I bought this carrier for my cat 10 years ago. I still use it anytime I travel weather it's in the car on a plane on a bus or on a train. The soft carrier I got is very high quality. My cat felt as comfortable as a cat can feel he was calm cool and collected on my first plane ride. Not to mention that JetBlue has a great service for flying with pets. This brand's quality is TERRIBLE & kinda feeling like petco is for mailing one that's obviously coming apart ngl. Literally the mat was sized wrong, side not properly attached, the front clearly wasn't stitched right, or it's used?.. Poor stitching overall. Doesn't look used at first glance but it's coming apart. I'm not gonna post every picture, but this brand seems to be unreliable. Contacted petco but they need pics and can't tell me if I can get it repaired? Basically it's not their problem, they're contacting the company they got it from. If it wasn't the only carrier my rescue kitten was curious about instead of terrified of I wouldn't bother… It's sold out so I can't keep ordering it hoping for a good one. Can't use a carrier if the zippers pops open or it's falling apart… Checking more tailor type places locally but petco *couldn't* tell me if they'd cover minor repairs or if they had repair services?? Weird. Petco doesn't stand by this brand at all. No exchange options or recommendations. Altho it didn't work as I'd hoped, the SHERPA BRAND ONES ARE SO NICE (our other family cat got the basic one I bought, she actually started hanging out in it. There’s no way I bought the same carrier as the same people who wrote good reviews. The zipper broke the first time I zipped it. The shoulder strap makes it not sturdy. Not as large as I thought it would be and I bought the large. My cat takes daily trips to the vet so I was looking for something easier to carry. This is not it. I like that my kitten is visible when I placed her inside the carrier. I love the clasp that keeps the zipper from accidentally opening once my kitten was placed inside. It comes with a small cushion which is a plus! It is extremely light weight! There’s plenty of room for my pet to move around. I love the color too. The only con is the bottom is a little bit flimsy. I have a pretty picky kitty when it comes to carriers. He does not like hard plastic or metal bars. I got this Sherpa® Travel Original Deluxe™ Airline Approved Pet Carrier for up to 22 pounds to try and see if he liked it. I use it mainly for trips to the vet or visiting friends. It comes folded up (so you can store it under a bed easily) but is easy to fold out and put together. It comes with a stability board and faux lambswool liner that easily attach to the bottom with hook and loop strips. Also included is a shoulder strap. It has two openings: one of the top and one at the end. Both has zippers that lock. So kitty cannot escape. The is one small pocket on the back that could hold papers, or small toys or treats. Mesh sides provide plenty of light and air so kitty does not feel contained. I left my carrier out on the floor for him to investigate. He eventually went in and lay down. I did a test run just over to a friends house in my car. The carrier fit easily on my backseat. I was able to loop the shoulder strap over the headrest and also put the seat belt through the luggage band located on the rear side of the carrier. Kitty rode safely and for the most part, happy. He lay down and did not repeatedly circle. I love that the liner comes and out and is washable and that the entire carrier is washable. I love that the carrier is lightweight as Kitty weighs almost 20 pounds. I love that this carrier can be wedged into tighter spaces as it has a flexible frame.daisymae9624
I initially really liked this product. Its lightweight easy to carry. I kept it in my cat's comfort zone so he wouldn't be intimidated by it and he enjoyed laying in it and he relaxed quietly when being carried around. However it only took one 15 minute ride to the vet before this 11mo old cat became nervous and ripped it open at the seam. The hole was big enough to stick its head through and would have only gotten larger it I wasn't holding it shut (while driving). The product was listed for pets up to 16 pounds and my cat was not that big. The product does promote a 1 year warranty, however fine print states ***Worldwise will not accept the return of a bag that has carried an animal (yes you read that correct). SHERPA warranty covers manufacturing defects only. Pet damage of any kind is NOT covered under warrant. I purchased two of these Original Sherpa bags over 20 years ago and have used them until just recently. My kitty passed away and i just got two new kittens, so decided to buy two more of these bags new and donate the old originals, although there was nothing at all wrong with them. Just thought it was time to buy new. The old ones lasted many years of traveling every month on planes, in cars, hotels, and definitely got more use than the average pet I’m sure! They held up all these years without even a rip or tear, even being shoved underneath airplane seats for years! HOWEVER, I wish I did not get rid of them. The new ones I just purchased do NOT by any means measure up to the old ones unfortunately. The saying holds true, that they don’t make things like they used to! The quality of this bag has gone way downhill since the ones I purchased many years ago! I cannot see these lasting anywhere near as long as my old ones. They are making them very cheaply now, and they did away with the extra compartment that was in between the back zippered one and the bag. There was another wide compartment about one inch wide, which was so convenient. I used to put my kitties food, dishes, and treats in there. It was perfect for travel! They unfortunately omitted that compartment now. The old ones also came with the luggage tag attached which identifies your pets name, owners name, and contact information. I bought a large even though we have a 1 year old kitten. She weighs about 7 lbs and the carrier is quite big. But I love that she has the extra space. The straps are super sturdy! I highly recommend this for anyone who travels often with their pet. It feels like it will hold up for a very long time. The day after we returned from our trip, our kitty slept in the carrier all day. She's taken very well to the carrier. One note is that while we did not get push back from any airline staff, the carrier barely squeaked under the window seat and did not fit under an aisle seat. I blame this on the airline (United). Purchased the famous Sherpa, the one from Wild One as well as another off brand and I have to say THIS one is the ONE. Teddy is decently sized and very long. He weighs exactly 16 pounds and has long legs as well. This bag is absolutely perfect. He loved it. It's very comfortable, the straps are comfortable and it's just quality material. I purchased the large size for him and he has enough space in there to roll around and even extra space to fit some of his favorite toys. I would give it 10 stars if I could. It's perfect.F.M.
I bought 3 of these carriers for my family’s move. Two 11-14lb cats and a 11lb chihuahua mix. The carriers were a great fit for each of the pets. Roomy enough to turn around in, small enough to fit under airplane seats (basic economy, Alaska). While I was acclimating the pets to the carriers, my two cats actually preferred to cuddle in one carrier (see picture). The handles are sturdy, which I like, but the rope design is quite bulky. The longer strap was at an odd length, at least for my height. It was difficult to find a comfortable way to carry my pet, for me and the pet, using the shoulder strap. I would have liked a longer strap. The construction of the carriers is great, the materials are nice and they held up well against three travel days. My chihuahua was able to chew a small hole in the mesh of the front panel, but she was very anxious on this trip and doing her best to escape the carrier. On that note, I really appreciated having the top panel opening as we were able to have it open after takeoff so my dog’s head could stick out and we could calm her. There is only one zipper on the front panel. I would have preferred two, as getting the cats in and zipped up before they squeezed out was quite the feat. The small pocket at the back of the carrier is a great feature. I was able to fit pet snacks and other items there for easy access at the airport. Overall, I do recommend these carriers. I have used cheaper carriers and their durability and security has always been lacking. On this trip, I felt reassured that my pets weren’t going to be able to escape, and that they were comfortable and secure. I’m happy I went with these.K.P.

Upon bringing him home it literally fell apart and he got loose outside and had to be chased down. This kennel is strong. The tie-down holes, one per corner, go through both the top half and the bottom half of the kennel, which is an excellent improvement over no tie down holes. Another improvement over the old version is that water cannot collect on top since there are no bowl-like indentations on the top. The door is heavy construction, and can be mounted as Left or Right swing. I put the kennel on the passenger's side of the vehicle so that I can use the empty space behind the driver for carrying a jug of water, leashes, and other stuff. The advertised length is 40", but be aware that the usable length or "inside" length is 33". This is adequate if your dog is 33" or less from the top of the tail to the end of his front nails, while lying in the "sphinx" position. ONE CON: There are no drainage holes in the bottom half. I plan to drill my own (well, get the hubby to do it). A suggestion for the manufacturer: Make a Truck Version of the kennel. It would be the same as this except for two changes: (1) Add drain holes, and (2) Make the top rear panel (opposite the door) from transparent acrylic, so the driver can see through it. This would be a safety feature, as the blind spot would be reduced.Karen
Excellent dog kennel/crate, easy to assemble and relatively lightweight, but strong. Came with extra fasteners for the top and bottom sections, which I have put aside for possible future use. Also has nice hand hold areas underneath the rim on both sides of the kennel for carrying/lifting.

We are happy with most of the construction and design of the crate, however they could easily improve it and make it 5-star worthy. The fold out sides do not have adequate support so unlike the photos, the zipper section of each side hangs down minimizing the interior space. There are 2 support rods (one for the front and back edges) of the fold outs that are a bit ill-fitting; if a 3rd support was added to run behind the zipper and help support the mesh material I would love the crate.lisa

I bought the medium sized carrier for my 20 year old 19 pound Siamese cat. Other reviews said that the medium sized carrier was acceptable by most airlines and I needed it for our trips to Florida on Frontier Airlines. It is a tight fit but it does fit under the middle seat. Did not try the aisle or window. The main complaint that I have is the difficulty of access. There is a metal bar that separates a zippered lower opening and a zippered upper opening. It appears that the bar is used for stability, which is fine, but it greatly reduces the accessibility to your pet when you have to take them out for the TSA inspection at a crowed airport security checkpoint. It is very convenient to carry my dog in a backpack while going through security. Then pulling up the handle and being able to roll her to my gate. I have a 7 lb chihuahua and I bought her the medium carrier. She is a little longer in the body than the average chihuahua. She fits beautifully and has plenty of room to move and lay down in both the upright position and when the carrier is laying down. I would definitely suggest you put in a soft blanket because there is no cushioning, I also went and bought a soft waterproof material and velcroed it on the Part of the carrier that she would lay on under the seat. I took my now 5 month old kitten (4 LB 6 oz) to the vet yesterday and decided I should get him a different carrier, one that would be more comfy for him and easier for me to carry too! Again, he is a 5 month old kitten, unfortunately he JUST fits into this carrier. Also, the shoulder/crossbody strap is impossible to latch on because the plastic on the latch has no give. I've had other Sherpa pet totes in the past and I wish this were made in a similar manner, providing strong support on the bottom but it does not. I am concerned after reading other reviews about kitties clawing their way out. I would be mortified. It seems to be of decent quality in terms of the fabrication and stitching. I do not want to return but feel the size is a major issue and for $30. I'd rather not have a carrier that can only be used for a few months. My GSD pup is crate trained. I purchased my first PetMate plastic crate in 2004 and never had an issue. When my GSD got too big for his wire kennel, I upgraded the size and got a PetMate Ultra (for its airline approved status). For three solid nights and any day time crate use highly distressed my dog. No one in the house slept. He was quite agitated (barking, clawing at the crate bottom, etc). He could not sleep or lay down in the crate. On the fourth night, I put him in the crate with the same result. Ten minutes later, I took out the old 2004 crate (flat bottom, no injection mold markers) and popped him in it. He sat down and gave the biggest sigh. I finally understood he had been in distress because of the new crate. On inspection, I discovered these round things under the bottom, pressed into them with my forearms and immediately felt the pressure points/pain. Who thought this design was a good idea? Did PetMate even try it? I beg designers to sit in it, lie down in it, press their forearms on to these circle things. Question your motives. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a cheap excuse and terrible quality. I’ll be cross-posting this comment on multiple pet store sites. I’m so unimpressed with this design. The incredible distress my dog endured because of shoddy design is unacceptable. PetMate needs to do better for the pets you aim to help. PetMax shouldn’t sell this product; they should ensure the pets they serve do not experience stress or injury.Ginn
The plastic has gotten more brittle than it used to be. Already has stress marks on corners and not even used. The sky kennels I have from 20 years ago are still functioning. Most of all, our dog took to it the first time. We had the S, same company. Uma is getting big now. Of course, we chose the same company and same product, just L in size. When a puppy, accidents do happen. It is easy to clean. Uma is about 20lbs now and can stand up in the kennel. Still plenty of height room. She may become 30-40lbs and this kennel will be all we need. Our use is for nighttime and when we go out. We have the gray which does not stand out. It is a neutral color and looks good in your kitchen, bedroom or where you keep your dog. The kennel also provides a rectangular cage on both sides on the top half so the dog can look out. We've got two adult cats, one of which is a really big guy at 17 pounds (he is overweight which we're dealing with, but he's also just a very large framed cat). The big guy has stretched a supposedly hard sided carrier to the point that the door pops out. Obviously, that doesn't do us much good with keeping him secure for vet visits. When I saw these soft-sided carriers, I wasn't positive they would work for us, particularly since our other cat has all of her claws and that mesh didn't necessarily look too sturdy in the picture. These were on sale for a deep discount on Easter Sunday so I took a chance and snapped up a couple of them to try with our critters. I was pleasantly surprised to find the quality to be pretty high and as soon as as zipped them up into their carrier shape and set them out with the doors open, both of our cats immediately climbed in them just to hang out. The size is perfect for even a larger adult cat — not too small that he can't move around or turn around, but not big enough for either cat to be sliding around on the journey. With the long shoulder strap, they were easy to carry to and from the car without jostling the cats around too much which I appreciated since our female cat is pretty skiddish about taking trips anywhere. I will admit to being afraid that the zipper would hold up to 17 pounds of cat hanging off of it, but so far so good. I can't speak to the durability of the mesh when pitted against claws because our little one was too scared of where she was going to really try to escape, but it seems like it would hold up to casual abuse at least. There was a slight new material kind of odor when I first got these out of the package, but I didn't notice it after airing them out for a bit and the cats didn't care so it wasn't an issue. All in all, these are great carriers that I think should work fine for both smaller and larger sized cats and in my tiny house, I love that they fold up almost flat for storage. Worth it at the sale price I paid, worth at the regular price as well.asps

I tried a couple different styles of packs to carry my Shichon dog Louie with me on my motorcycle. I never felt really comfortable till I found your site. He loves it! He gets all excited when he sees me grabbing it and makes it easy for me to get him in it. We travel all over the place.
