Kong Chew Resistant Heavy Duty Pillow Dog Bed Grey For Sale (Feb 2023 Update)

This is a well made dog bed. Easy to put together, very comfortable for my dog, stays cleaner than other dog beds, easy to remove and wash. I have a labrador retriever and initially got the large size, but exchanged it for the jumbo. The large size was a good size, but upon watching him sleep, i found out he likes to stretch out. Yes the jumbo size is very large and requires a lot of space in your room, but it is worth it to see him stretch out or curled up in his very comfy bed. A little pricey but he is worth it. I tried other beds and they are of inferior quality and won't last long. I highly recommend it. For your reference my dog is about 73 Lbs and measured 40 inches when laying down and lightly curled. Two dogs could fit in the jumbo bed if they decide to curl and lay next to each other. But not for stretching in a hot summer evening.Love Labradors 2

My 13 year old Lab was going for spirited 2 mile walks 4 months ago but alas, age it seems has finally caught up with my dearest and closest friend. His hips and knees have been noticeably troubling him, especially in the morning after a long sleep. He’s always had doggy beds but now more than ever I want him to be as comfortable as possible. This bed is FANTASTIC and my good boy loves it! He is 74 lbs but tall and lanky. The large measurements were too small for him, if you look in the picture the golden retriever in the large has zero room to stretch out. I am so glad I went with the XL. My sweet boy can lounge and stretch and get as comfy as his heart desires. I ordered the brown color but have a small blanket draped over it in the image. I couldn’t be happier with this purchase, the side pillows are icing on the cake, my boy is in high heaven!Babyduck

My cocker uses this as a play mat in the living room. Since he is not allowed on the sofa or carpet, this pad is for him to sit/lay comfortably while he hangs out with the family. It's padded enough to keep him comfortable and happy on the hard ceramic floors of our house. I've noticed that it's not padded enough for him to sleep comfortably through the night. After 3 or 4 hours, he'll go to his plush bed to get real sleep. My dog loved the mat as soon at it arrive. He knew it was his right when I was taking it out of the box. The mat arrived quickly and packaged well. No damage and in perfect condition. Once I took it out of the plastic and set it on the floor, it was ready to go. As a play mat, it can't be better. it's stain and odor resistant. My dog has oily skin that tends to be on the smellier side and I don't really see it affecting the mat much. The mat is black so I can't see the oily shadow that would usually appear on other dog beds I buy for my dog. The bottom is slip resistant. My cocker sheds and I like that the hairs don't stick to it. I can easily vacuum the mat with the crevice tool on my vacuum. I've had it a month and other than the rawhide/saliva marks that are left on it after a couple long chewing sessions, the bed still looks new. I just take some water, a toothbruch, and baby wipes to the rawhide/saliva marks and after some light brushing and wiping, it's clean again. I want to get a smaller one for my car. Excellent product. Have Midwest brand crates for greyhounds and no previous crate beds compares to this one. I have four of these beds now and am very pleased with overall quality. Perfect fit, doesn't move around, dogs love the bumper sides, and can be made more nest-like with addition of soft blanket. This size washes nicely in commercial machine and air dries rapidly in the event of an incident. Definitely would purchase again.Carolyn

The bed is well made, washable and durable. But it stays "inflated" to the point that my dog is afraid to step on it. The inner filling creates an air pocket and the solution to making the air pocket deflate is to leave the zipper open and push out the air. But as soon as I zip it back up, the air pocket is there again. Not sure the answer but my big dog doesn't like the instability or wobble created by displacing the air pocket. I put a different filling inside and the problem resolved.Robyn S

Very pleasantly surprised. It arrived much more quickly that I expected. The bed cover looks to be quite durable. The filling has held up well for each of our dogs — one 75-lb. and the other 100-lb. We've bought several kinds of dog beds over the past 3 decades; this one meets or exceeds the quality of previous purchases, and the price is less than I'd have guessed for a product of this quality.Anonymous

Our puppy loves her waterproof round dog bed! At first, I was worried because she dug at it repeatedly. I thought she was going to ruin it quickly. Nope! It's find and she eventually stopped the digging. You can see some of her nail marks but maybe those will disappear when washed. If they don't, it's fine—I was just thrilled there was no hole from her! She naps on it daily on our breezeway and I don't need to worry about it getting moldy when it gets rained on. She also loves jumping down on it when she has gotten herself on our bench and isn't sure how to get down. Great product! Very happy with the brown color.Anonymous

One of my great danes is 7 1/2. He threw out his poor old back a day before I ordered this bed it was absolutely awful to see him hurt so bad. It was his old bed. I ordered this after his vet appointment and I was relieved to see big barker shipped it the same day, the Friday before memorial day. Memorial weekend passed and we got it on Tuesday. I also want to mention that I appreciate a product made in the US, I buy what I can American made. He laid on it for a few days and then quit and then I realized it was because it didn't smell like his stinky old blankets that he enjoys so much, so after I put his favorite smelly blanket on the bed he took to it immediately. We got the XL with 1 side that has a pillow. He hasn't seemed to care about the pillow much so he avoids it. Only one dane can fit on the bed but he is a big beefy euro dane. I absolutely plan on ordering again for our 2nd great dane but getting the flat XL version, maybe swapping them out for the boys. Reggie my injured dane was hand raised by me with love, he was a rescue that I fostered at 2 weeks and we fell in love with him so we were fortunate to be able to adopt him. I used to kangaroo him because he was so small and ill he couldnt retain his own body temp. So safe to say I love my dogs like they're my own children. Very glad I decided to give it a shot. It was expensive but so is an emergency vet appointment with a hurt back. Well worth the money if it makes his final years earthside comfortable.Jessi

It's been 3 years since I first experienced a Big Barker that was generously donated to a special needs dog at the rescue where I work in Missouri. 18 mo. later we bought one for our 80# Akita/Shepherd Knarly after I saw how that donated bed stood up to the wear and tear of daily shelter use. That was 18 mo ago. We lost him in February to what looked like cancer, but it was a fast end to a big life full of adventure. He loved this thing. I love this thing. It kept me from waking up every 40 minutes when he got uncomfortable crammed onto our queen sized memory foam mattress (we're not small people either) and hopped stiffly down to the carpet, then got back up with us a little while later. I miss the big, comfortable sigh he'd give us every night once his chin hit the pillow. And he slept HARD, with his bad leg hanging off the side. I miss our dog. The bed's still going strong under our 60# pit mix, though. He likes to hang his rear end off, elbows on the bed, and stretch his back legs out with his toes all spread out, then belly crawl the rest of the way onto it, draped over the middle of it. Pitties are weird. At least mine's weird and comfy! I think, nostalgia aside, what's impressed me the most is that there's NO WEAR to this bed, the foam *or* the cover. Other than the seasonal shedding fur right now, it looks like it did the day I took it out of the box. I can't find human products that stand up to the beating our dogs give things, so I feel like I've gotten my money's worth out of this bed already. Knowing it's designed for 10 years of use just means I've invested in all of my dogs' health for a good while longer. I'm here today getting a Lg Sleek for our Rottie mix's crate. Knarly's bed did so well for him, and keeps going strong for for Kenny, that Firework gets one too.Becky Trainer

I’ve been buying beds for my big old man for a long time. He’s about 100lbs, and he’s 14 years old. Now he’s hurt and doesn’t walk well, so he spends the majority of his time in bed, and it’s even more important to have a good bed. To get a halfway decent bed, it’s usually about $150+, and I’m still disappointed. The memory foam is thin or goes flat. Some beds actually have thick foam, but they’re not memory foam, and they’re too dense and firm. The last bed I bought said that it was 5” thick with dual foam. It seemed nice enough when I sat on it, but exactly a year later, when I laid on it for an hour, my joints were all killing me. I felt almost like I had been lying on the floor. Every review said that this was hands down the best bed. I was really looking for something more in my budget, but I couldn’t find anything even half as good as this one, and I had just paid $180 for the other one, and had to replace it after a year! If I had bought this one a year ago, my pup would be happier, and I wouldn’t be buying another, so it’s a sound investment. I didn’t really have the money for it right now, and didn’t want my dog to have to wait for a new bed, but then I read that they offer Affirm, which acts like a payment plan! So I could have the bed now! I was sold. OMG, I’m so glad I bought it. This bed says it’s 7” thick. The old bed said 5”, but the Big Barker is at least twice as thick as the old one! I don’t know if the Big Barker measurements are modest, or if the other bed’s were inflated, or if that’s how flat it went over the year or what, but the Big Barker immediately exceeded my expectations. It’s super comfy – the right amount of support and squish. My dog is happy. It’s the best quality bed I’ve ever bought. If you’re thinking about it, just do it. This thing is going to last. Two things I would change, though. One, I wish the covers were available in green. My dog has become incontinent, so I wish that the outside cover was waterproof. I know they sell a waterproof membrane for the inside, which is good. I wish there was an option for a super tough, durable, waterproof cover. One of the beds I had before had that, and rather than having to constantly remove the cover, wash, and replace it, I could leave the whole cover on, and soap/hose it down really quick. It was also chew resistant (not a problem in my house, but sure kills two birds with one stone). Anyway, it’s fine, I wrapped the bed including the cover in a 6-sided waterproof encasement, and I have multiple waterproof blankets, so I layer one of those on the bed, and then put down a couple of washable waterproof pads too, so it’s protected. As such, his photos don’t show off the bed as well as they could.blackviolet

Every time my 4 year old Bullmastiff started feeling warm and fuzzy would start chewing on the corner of his bed. I tried several beds, from which pieces of stuffing still remain forever floating around the living room. I scoured the internet for his "Very Last Last Chance Bed". His derriere was going to be sleeping on the floor for all of eternity if he chewed this one up. It's been several days now since I received his new bed……..several days longer than any other bed has ever survived. He loves it…….or he just hasn't felt that warm and fuzzy bed destroying feeling yet. I am thankful I can now spend my time scrubbing the drool slings off the Windows. Santa brought us this pet bed for Christmas. My 13 pound chi weenie fits in it comfortably, as well as my smaller dogs. It is made of memory foam covered in velour, with a nice plush pillow cushion for sleeping on. The cushion is machine washable. My dogs like it because they like to be protected when they rest. Its one of the best-made dog beds Ive found. Adding to that, it is adorable!simmons1840

Love these, the dogs, love them!!!! They have there bed that came with it and it has the double cover so it stays dry if there are accidents, but I added there pet beds on top they push them on or off if they want them there they love these. I love the fact I can put a lamp on it and hide the remotes and other things so it looks less cluttered.Jenny

We bought 2 of these dog beds. When we got home we noticed only one of the beds actually had the foam mattress, the other was cut up foam pieces in the bottom of the bed. We returned the faulty one and the rest available were the same. We could not find the bes that actually had the one piece foam. Are the beds supposed to have the solid orthopedic foam or just pieces of what appears to be cut up foam? Beware of when you buy this that you get the correct one.Annette

I like the zipper feature to wash the outer bed fabric and the egg crate padded sleeping area. My cat new it was a present for her and took to it, immediately. I placed the bed in one of her favorite cat napping spots. Enjoy.LJ

Perfect Bed for my puppy! I was needing to replace a bed similar that he would chew up the foam on the bottom. This bed cover completely covers the foam bottom, so he cannot destroy the foam.Deborah2003

Very nice appearing, fits in well in my living room! My dog loves the raised edge and uses it for a pillow quite often. 🙂 I only gave it a 4 because it wasn't as cushioned as I was expecting for an orthopedic bed, otherwise it's great! I did not care for this bed at all and interestingly enough my dog does not recognize it as a bed either. He is a creature of comfort Boxer and usually loves to snuggle in a bed right away. With this bed he treats it like a huge object to drag around the yard and will not lay on it. I feel the bed is too hard and a little slippery for the dog to lay on. Would not purchase again. By the way, I have a small boxer only 60lbs and he is a tripod and this bed was too small for him. So although I am a huge Ruffwear fan, I am sorry I wasted the money on this bedSandra D.

For $130 CAD this product is a poor value and doesn’t seem to stack up to what you’d normally expect from Ruffwear. It’s a really hard base and doesn’t appear to be comfortable for our dog. I have to take issue with the measurements too. It’s claimed to be 28” x 35” but yet the tag on the product says 26” x 34” but even that is misleading. The actual padded surface of the bed is closer to 32” which leaves it feeling small even for our 40” mini Aussie Shepherd. All in all, a great disappointment which we’ll be returning. Come on Ruffwear, you can do better.Cole F.

fully satisfactory. This is the second version of the same bed. The top fabric is not as durable as I would like. Large Labrador (73#) scratches around while setlling down and the top ultimately gets torn and no replacement "bag" is currently available…fairly pricey unity to replace on 6-8 month cycle. Suggest you make replaceable covering available allowing re-cycling of intenal bedding.Brad S.

My Lab, Mack Henry, absolutely loves this bed. He now has two since there are two places he likes to hang out. They are a bit pricey but worth it for his comfort. Since he lays on his bed to watch out the window, it keeps the hair off my oriental rug. I have washed the cover on one bed twice. It looks like new. Mack is comfortable and I am happy. Perfect size for our 95 pound Golden Retriever. The outer fabric is denim and very durable and washable. Inner waterproof liner protects memory foam. Our dog is very rough on her beds…she likes to pick up and shake and toss her beds around. This bed is heavy and not easily tossed. I think it will last her a long time. Very pleased with the purchase. It arrives in a small package because the memory foam expands upon opening.redhead
