Caution: The failure mode of this item may set your house on fire. I have several of these that I use indoors on either a brick fireplace hearth or concrete floor. They have only been used a few months during winter time for three years now. Just by chance I felt the heat coming off one of them and immediately yanked the plug out of the socket- it was about to go nuclear as in a total melt-down. Please see attached photos showing the melted state of that unit. It was very hot to the touch and the faux sheepskin cover was stuck to it in spots– it was that hot. This is a very uncomfortable and alarming situation. My solution was both of them went out in the trash. The pets will need to use sunshine or our laps to keep warm. Otherwise, they did work nice and the pets loved the heat provided. I just want to make sure they also have a house to live in.W.
I wasn't satisfied with how hot this heating pad got but it did work, it just doesn't get that warm. I tested it with pillows and it got warm and then I laid on it for a couple minutes and didn't get much warmer. I don't know if it will keep my dog warm enough or not. Hopefully it will. It's a hard mat so it's not gonna be comfy. I took the cloth piece that goes over it off because my dog would chew it up in one night more than likely. It's overpriced if you ask me. I bought the identical heating pad in 2005 for my desert tortoise. I am to blame for it not continuing to work after almost 17 years because I carelessly got it wet near the cord entrance while washing down the tortoise house. My 75 year old tortoise that has been in the family for well over 50 years could easily live another 25 years. With proper care, I know the heating pad will last.

The largest size was perfect for doghouse. We have a giant breed dog, and it is difficult to find dog beds large enough for him, but this fit the bill. In the past I've had 2 different brands of electric heated pads for his house, but each only lasted one winter, and I think one even shocked him after he had gone swimming. So, a warming pad without electricity was wonderful to find, and this topper is easy to throw in the wash, and keeps the bedding underneath from getting dirty, as well. It's also soft and the brown color does not show dirt. Exactly what we needed to add warmth, as his regular bedding/pads underneath tend to retain the cold. This pad will be great for the winter . It's currently scorching hot during summer but freezing sometimes below 30 Temps during winter we lose quite a bit of chick's during that time. The directions were weak and adapter ( for large Igloo Dog house} didn't match properly. Had to go on to YouTube to figure out how to make it work. The Igloo is a constant curve making something that is not built for the curve turns into a little more work. The adapter did not compensate for the curve but I did get it installed and I am happy with it and my dog is also. The heat shield needs to be a little lager and more reflective the outside of the dog house gets hotter than I personally would like. I would still recommend it.cmswin
The bracket is supposed to fit an igloo style dog house. The dog house is curved the bracket is flat which makes it difficult to drill mounting holes for the bracket. The mounting holes on the heater were not in the correct location for the bracket (had to drill bracket for heater mounting). It came with a heat shield that did not mount correctly. Bought this for our older dog who now has to contend with the younger one pulling bedding out to position into sun. Now bedding stays in house, dogs prefer dog house now and they even smell better, not that musty smell. Extremely happy customer here. One of those products I should have bought earlier. Yes it's a snug fit correctly so, just makes it difficult to slip over the pad. Maybe two zippers meeting at the corner would make it a little easier to slip on and for reading the temp. Or a window cut out for viewing the temp. But over all very happy and would buy again.4346deals

This is our 3rd pet bed warmer from KH. We had an extra large one for our senior Lab who had chronic arthritis. We put it right on top of his orthopedic bed and he loved it. This new smaller one is for our cats. We put it on a shelf in the office and one of the 3 cats is usually laying on it. We also got the A Frame cat warmer which they love too. We put the A Frame on top of our bed and when we take it off the bed it leave a nice warm spot for us which is nice on a chilly night. I bought a heated house for my (4) cats – it was set up in my unheated workshop. I noticed that one cat liked being inside, while 3 did not seem interested. Over the summer, I disassembled the house to clean it, and to clean the cover on the heated pad, and noticed that all of the cats were comfortable with just the pad. So, I ordered several more pads, and now have the house, plus several pads, placed in the shop, as well as happy, warm cats. The only 'downside' I can see. Several of the cats like them so much on cold winter days, that they don't go outside as much. They act as if they are almost drugged by the comfort of the pad, and sleep much of the day away. 🙂 (And, now, I am going to buy another one, for our dog.)Colliam7
I bought this last week for my outside dog. She is not a fan. I would not recommend this product at all. The product has flaws that need to be corrected. For example the cover that comes with it is a joke, dog moves one time it’s off. It should be like a pillow case with a Sherpa top. The squeaky material makes my dog and the neighbors dog shy away from it. Personally there is nothing soft about the plastic. This may work for cats but I find it hard to believe that dogs like it at all. I will be taking it back for a full refund Almost $100.00 and a 1 1/2 hour drive very very disappointed. My newly adopted dog needs hip surgery (we knew this when we adopted him), and I ordered this bed based on the reasonable price and good reviews. I was not expecting much, but I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the foam insert and the nice cozy topper. I love that the zipper goes fully halfway around the insert, so the cover is easy to remove and launder. I've washed it twice already, and it still looks like new. It fits perfectly in our travel crate, so it's great for the car – no more sliding around in the crate when we're on the move.
