The animal must be saturated in this shampoo as skunk spray is an oil that penetrates into your animal's body and fur. I found it especially difficult to get the shampoo lathered up between the ear and eye area as I didn't want to get the soap in the eyes when rinsing off. My 3 dogs got sprayed. I used this once and the smell was gone. This shampoo smells good but it does not lather well. I used almost a full bottle on my dogs. Two have short hair, but my shepherd mix has a lot of fur. I left it on for several minutes as I rubbed it in their fur It rinsed off well. I received the 32 ounce bottle of "De-Skunk Odor Destroying Shampoo" and have used it on my dog once already. This shampoo has a very cinnamon/black licorice smell to it. It is a VERY strong smell which my dog did not like at all, she actually kept sneezing when I was bathing her and she has never done that with other shampoos before. This shampoo is not very runny which I liked because a lot of dog washes are and you tend to use way too much and waste it. This shampoo also lathered up very nicely with little effort. I liked how I was able to really massage this into my dog's coat. This shampoo left my dog's coat nice and shiny afterwards too. Instructions say to allow this shampoo to sit on your pet for 3-5 minutes before rinsing it off. I really liked the fact that this shampoo does not remove the topical flea and tick treatments that are used on the back of the dog's neck. This is a great shampoo for any dog owner to have on hand. We use "Natures Miracle" products regularly, but this particular product was a total failure for us. We first treated our dog with peroxide and backing soda, and that took most of the smell out. The next morning we purchased this product in an attempt to removed the remaining smell. We followed directions, and used it twice, but the remaining smell was unaffected. I didn't know what to think from reading the other reviews. Some swear it worked, others say it was useless. Here's my experience. When my Bernedoodle first got sprayed, I used the hydrogen peroxide formula you read about all over the Internet. Although, it got all the yellow stain off his coat, the smell was still horrendous. I waited a week thinking it would dissipate over time but there was no improvement whatsoever. Accordingly, I set out to purchase a commercial product and settled on Nature’s Miracle. Initially, I didn’t think it had worked at all – I was in the camp of the 1 star reviews. But then I noticed a small improvement the following day, maybe 10-20%. You might think it was just time not the product, but trust me, after living with the smell for over a week I could tell there was an improvement not related solely to the passage of time. I called the Nature’s Miracle support line to ask how often I could reapply it without harming my dog’s coat. The agent advised repeat applications were fine as long as I waited a few days in between. More importantly, she advised that I should not rinse him off before using it, like you normally do before applying shampoo. That was my mistake with the first application. I had assumed he had to be rinsed first in order for the product to lather up. In any event, after a second “dry-coat” application Nature’s Miracle got rid of at least 90% of the smell…hallelujah! So, follow the instructions, apply it dry and repeat if necessary…it will work. My only advice to the company is to add “Do not rinse first” to the instructions. It just seems natural to rinse before shampooing your dog, washing your car or whatever so adding that little tidbit of information should help customers like me to apply it properly the first time.Hombre
Wow….I've had 3 dogs in my life, 2 that passed away about 7 years ago, and 1 hellion and beautiful lover lab who came into our lives six years ago. My two Westies got skunked for the first time. Without any remedy on-hand, I used the peroxide/baking soda/detergent recipe. That worked somewhat, but both dogs still had a strong odor, especially when they got wet. After trying two more treatments, I got the Skout’s Honor product. It’s not a shampoo, but almost like water. The odor dissipated a bit more, but there’s still a faint smell left. I expected complete elimination, but maybe I’m wishing too much. So the dogs got sprayed again tonight, which gave me the opportunity to use Scout's Honor on the dogs. I was able to 100% remove the skunk smell on the three of them that got sprayed. TIPS for best results: 1. Fill up a spray bottle with Scout's Honor, don't try pouring it right from the bottle that it comes from. That way you can spot spray directly and deeply into the fur to the skin. 2. Spray directly onto dry fur like the directions say. Use a washcloth to scrub hard at the areas that got a direct hit. Spray and scrub, spray and scrub. 3. Keep at it until you can't smell any of the worst areas. Then rinse with warm water, dry the dog as much as possible with a towel, and then sniff again. This time you'll be able to hone into the small areas that still smell. Spray and scrub with the washcloth, spray and scrub. Rinse again. Do the smell test. Get your nose right down into the fur so you can identify those remaining areas. Spray and scrub. If the dog was directly sprayed, this process may take 30 minutes but IT IS SO WORTH IT!! This was an ok cleaner for pet related messes. I bought the one that has enzymes that is suppose to help neutralize the smell. I have a small chihuahua and even though she’s trained to go to the bathroom outside or on a pee pad, she still sometimes loves to go on any carpets/mats we have lying around our house. This spray helped with cleaning that up but I honestly didn’t really notice it helping to eliminate or neutralize the urine smell. It got most of the stain out but to get rid of the smell or to prevent her from going back to that same spot, I still have to take the carpet and wash it in my washing machine. This time we did the home remedy of 1 quart hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda and a teaspoon of dawn. We did that twice, then use a full bottle of Nature’s Miracle Skunk Odor Remover. Instead of using dog shampoo like the product recommends after sitting in the dogs for 5 minutes, we really worked in baking soda into the fir before we washed off this product. This is absolutely the best skunk shampoo ever! Although Nature's Miracle skunk shampoo works just as well, Skunk Off has a wonderful fragrance to it. It's not overpowering-just, well, fresh and clean and great. I usually just have to use it one time, and the skunk smell is virtually gone. If my dog had been hit close, I will bathe him with it twice. Just as with the Nature's Miracle stuff, DON'T rub it in like you usually do with shampoo, just smooth it on, and then wait five minutes, and wash off with warm water. My two Westies got skunked for the first time. Without any remedy on-hand, I used the peroxide/baking soda/detergent recipe. That worked somewhat, but both dogs still had a strong odor, especially when they got wet. After trying two more treatments, I got the Skout’s Honor product. It’s not a shampoo, but almost like water. The odor dissipated a bit more, but there’s still a faint smell left. I expected complete elimination, but maybe I’m wishing too much. So the dogs got sprayed again tonight, which gave me the opportunity to use Scout's Honor on the dogs. I was able to 100% remove the skunk smell on the three of them that got sprayed. TIPS for best results: 1. Fill up a spray bottle with Scout's Honor, don't try pouring it right from the bottle that it comes from. That way you can spot spray directly and deeply into the fur to the skin. 2. Spray directly onto dry fur like the directions say. Use a washcloth to scrub hard at the areas that got a direct hit. Spray and scrub, spray and scrub. 3. Keep at it until you can't smell any of the worst areas. Then rinse with warm water, dry the dog as much as possible with a towel, and then sniff again. This time you'll be able to hone into the small areas that still smell. Spray and scrub with the washcloth, spray and scrub. Rinse again. Do the smell test. Get your nose right down into the fur so you can identify those remaining areas. Spray and scrub. If the dog was directly sprayed, this process may take 30 minutes but IT IS SO WORTH IT!! If the dog still smells like skunk the next day, it's because you weren't patient enough to identify the sometimes very small areas that you needed to spray and scrub again.kfitzz77
Our family pet is a fox. The odor of her urine is very strong. Like 3 week old litter box mixed with skunk spray strong. This product is the only one that gets rid of the smell completely and quickly. No second or third treatments needed. I have been through a multitude of odor removers (some quite expensive) and this is simply the best. It leaves behind a slight citrus scent but not overpowering or unpleasant. I ordered this for our little Yorkie who got sprayed face on, in her mouth and down the front of her (none in her eyes thank goodness). We used this shampoo as directed and when she was dry there was a pleasant odour of coconut. As soon as she got wet in the rain the first time after being bathed there was the horrible smell of skunk mixed with the smell of coconut . So after she is bathed in this and dried she is ok until she gets wet again and then there is skunk. We have tried several things on her and nothing seems to work I don't think we are going to be rid of the odour until her hair grows out and is cut off. I have 2 dogs and have used furry freshness on dog urine, vomit, and poop stains on our rug and bed and love how it works to remove odor and leave behind no frangrance or odors. I’m so happy to have found a product that removes odors and stains so well. Just spray to saturate and let it dry. I do feel the need to keep pets away from product while it’s drying but that’s a small inconvenience compared to the results I’ve gotten.

Overall, I am pretty happy with the Fresh Wave odor eliminating spray and air freshener. I think the 8 oz. size is a good amount and will last quite a while. I feel like it really does work almost instantly at removing odors. I wasn’t too sure about it when I first opened the bottle because I thought the scent was pretty strong and a little too woodsy and outdoorsy for me. However, while it did have a pretty strong smell when I first sprayed it, within minutes, the smell was much more muted and the odors were gone! I used it in my kids’ bathroom first because I knew that would be the best room to test it on. I have used it on the furniture, rugs and carpets and just in the air. I got this to mask over or eliminate pet and kid odors for when I have company. I do not care for the sprayer at all. Most sprayers you can hold the sprayer itself and squeeze the handle to spray out the liquid. With this one you have to hold the bottle and reach your fingers up to the trigger to spray. It's just plain awkward and uncomfortable. It's different and unique, which is why I think they did it, but it's just not as functional as the tried and true spray bottles. So I spray around the house including the furniture and air. It smells like potpourri, not much different. It's not horrible, but it's not particularly pleasant for my taste either. At least it's natural ingredients, so there's that. I did feel it was safe enough. However within a couple of hours you would never know I sprayed. The scent didn't linger, and it did not get rid of the smells I was hopefully eliminating with it. I guess it's better than nothing, but I've used other products that seem to work better. I was very eager to try out this Odor Eliminator spray and see how well it works/or doesn't work to get rid of the stale odors in my small apartment. After having the apartment closed up and the a/c running all summer, things tend to get stale and stuffy. I also have pets which contribute to the less-than-fresh odors. I have to admit that, at first, I was hesitant to use the product because it doesn't smell like the lavender scent that I ordered. After using it all throughout my home, I went out for a while and when I came back inside, everything smelled fresh and clean. I purchased this product because it was recommended by "Dr. Debra's" cat and dog information site as well as an infomercial. I decided to give it a try. I have many cats and I'm constantly cleaning the litter box. However, where my biggest concern was, are the trash cans in which I discard the litter. Please keep in mind, that all discarded litter goes into two plastic well sealed bags, thus, I try to prevent odor and leakage from occurring. Keep in mind it is summer, and there is also household trash in the trash bins. So, there is regular household trash, discarded kitty litter, and summer heat, not to mention the trash bins are picked up once a week. The odor was too much to bare! I saw an infomercial about how effective Zero Odor was and decided to try it. I sprayed the interior trash bin lids and the inside of the bins with the trash it in. THE ODOR DISAPPEARED! This one is the best I've used! I first used this one last summer. I bought another brand this summer because where I went didn't have the simple green & it was a waste of money; didn't eliminate any smell! So I went back to Petco & picked up a gallon of the simple green! It has a pleasant scent right away which is a plus AND it elminated the "barnyard" smell I had going on! I had a small pool in my back yard (that from trial& error I've learned to put tarp down first so the bottom of the pool didn't get funky, stinky). Because of the pool sitting in the grass not aerating the funk from my dogs waste festers and when you pull the pool up the stench will knock you out. Just bought this yesterday (5/14/18) to rid our back yard artificial turf (AF) of the urine smell our new Labrador puppy has been leaving. I followed the instructions on the package, and waited until the sun went down so the AF would be cool to apply the product. I used the whole bottle on an area that is about 25ft. x 25ft. When it's being applied, it smells nice, like a deodorizer. After I applied the product, I lightly misted the area, as recommended on the bottle. This morning, I woke up, took my dog outside, and the lawn still smells. It wasn't even sunny out yet, which typically causes the AF to heat up and "activate" the urine smell more. Unfortunately, this product did not work to eliminate a Labrador's (9 weeks old) urine smell. For the price I paid, I would think it would do the job. I live in an apartment that has a small yard attached. Due to the size it doesn't take long to start to have an odor. I have tried all sorts things to eliminate the smell. I ordered commercial strength kennal cleaner that shelters and dog boarding places use. That would cover the smell while it was wet and that was it. This stuff is AMAZING. Sprayed it all over the grass and the next day there was absolutely no smell around. It used very little of the actual product, results will vary depending on size of yard (mine is about 6×10). When I brought two new ferrets in to join my other 4 I noticed how bad their waste smelled like ammonia. Within 3-4 days it went away once they drank the water I always use this product in. I am going to buy the gallon now, as it is $20. cheaper than the 32oz.x 4= gal. The young couple I got them from only had them 2 mths. I am sure this is one of the reasons they got rid of them. I am now up to having used 3 of the 32oz bottles in the last year of having my ferrets. The bottled last a long time and we ocassionally squirt it on the food but mainly use it in the water bottles. Their waste and urine still smells quite bad but may not be as bad without it, I am unsure as I have always been using this stuff. The price at local pet stores is outrageous for this stuff and this website has the lowest price I have seen. I got my coworker to grab a bunch of this item as well for her ferret and she enjoys it also. If you have a ferret, you know that they can be smelly. They stink up anything they play in and some people (relatives) really can't handle the scent. I particularly needed a good air freshener or odor remover for a relative's nursing home room. After I received this Fresh Wave Odor Remover Gel, I placed it on the counter in my home to get an idea of what it could actually do. I didn't sense any fragrance emitting from it while in the house. After it had been in my home a couple of days, I ran an errand and upon opening the door to my home I sensed a freshness. Not a true "scent" or fragrance, just a freshness. Then I replaced the seal under the lid to prevent spillage and took the jar to the nursing home. I placed it on the floor of the closet to keep it out of way and left it. I returned about 3 days later to visit and to determine the effectiveness of the Fresh Wave product. I again did not have any sense of a fragrance. I did notice the "nursing home scent" not as strong and unpleasant. So I have hope that over time this will continue to help with a cleaner, fresher scent to the place. Fresh Wave Odor Removing Gel, 15 oz Canister- I RATE 2 STARS! This odor remover is plant based. I am happy it is easy to open and I don’t need to touch the actual inside gel. I unscrewed the lid and removed the foil seal and replaced decorative lid with open flower design. I also noticed the Safer Choice emblem that it meets the U.S. EPA Safer Products Standards. The canister , label, and all the awesomeness just seems to good to be true. I was checking the ingredients on the label and it states that it is a proprietary blend of water, natural and plant oils, and other ingredients. Ummm okay! I attempted three different locations and three different times of day to see if it was working well to remove my odors for my cat which by the way it says it is safer for people, pets, and the planet. Keeps working on your odors up to 60 days. Also, please keep this away from children of all ages. This Fresh Wave Odor Removing Gel basically looks like ice or candy so please keep it away from children. We live in a house that was built in the '40s, and I tried the gel in a bathroom that we don't use that smells kind of musty. After 24 hours, the bathroom didn't have a smell. After 48 hours, you could smell the scent of the gel slightly. It smells like menthol to me, but it's not an overwhelming smell and you can't smell it strongly unless you are about 2 or 3 ft away from it. I removed the gel from the room and it was back to smelling musty again in 24 hours. The gel claims that it removes odors, but I can't really say whether or not it does that based on my trial of it. It may just be that, that bathroom needs better air circulation, because the room that it is attached to smells neutral. The bathroom doesn't have any water turned on in it right now, the humidity is controlled, so I can't necessarily say that there is something that is causing the odor (like mold) that would need to be cleaned or removed in order for the gel to permanently remove the standing odor. Based on the fact that I couldn't smell anything after 24 hours, I would guess that it does permanently remove odors. I included a picture of myself holding it in my hand. It's not a huge container, so it's a convenient size for small spaces and won't take up much room on counters and can fit on the back of a toilet. After 10 days of use, you can see that the gel pieces that were all the way at the top when it was opened have shrunk down about an inch. Based on that, if it continues to shrink down at the same rate, I would say that their estimate of this 15 oz. container lasting a maximum of 60 days is accurate. I think mine looks like it's probably going to last about 6 weeks.BB

We've reviewed before, but still amazed with the Z-Skunk-R shampoo. It's worked like magic on several of our dogs including twice on our daughter-in-law's Siberian w/all that hair! IT'S AN AWESOME PRODUCT. Our entire family keeps it on hand in every household and our cabin at all times. I was generously awarded this product as a sample and so far I think it is a great product. I used it on my grey horse without scrubbing him for the last AQHA show and he looked really nice. The foaming sprayer attachment adds just the right amount of shampoo and is easy to use. I recommend this product. In the future I will purchase for my other animals, but on big grey, still nothing beats purple shampoo.Brittany
20. Odormute 15 Oz – Unscented
Product Details:
The solution must come in direct contact with the source of the odor in order to eliminate it. odormute will not harm people, pets or plant life. mix at a ratio of 1 tablespoon odormute powder to 3,78 litre of warm water. mix odormute with warm water until completely dissolved. for best results, dissolve odormute in a 0,5 litre of warm water. allow 5 – 10 minutes, mixing occasionally, to make sure all powder is dissolved. then, add this solution to the rest of the water. enzymes are activated by adding warm water. once activated, enzymes must be used within 4 hours for best results. water temperature must be between 45° f to 140° f, with the optimum temperature between 70° f and 90° f. freezing will not harm enzymes, however, temperatures above 140° f will destroy them.

There are a lot of products to help remove urine stains but in 20 years, I have never seen the need to try any other product than Odormute. It's powdered so you mix only what you need and reactive with warm water to mix the strength you need for the job. IT WORKS!Valerie, Pet-Care Advisor
