The directions were weak and adapter ( for large Igloo Dog house} didn't match properly. Had to go on to YouTube to figure out how to make it work. The Igloo is a constant curve making something that is not built for the curve turns into a little more work. The adapter did not compensate for the curve but I did get it installed and I am happy with it and my dog is also. The heat shield needs to be a little lager and more reflective the outside of the dog house gets hotter than I personally would like. I would still recommend it.cmswin
The bracket is supposed to fit an igloo style dog house. The dog house is curved the bracket is flat which makes it difficult to drill mounting holes for the bracket. The mounting holes on the heater were not in the correct location for the bracket (had to drill bracket for heater mounting). It came with a heat shield that did not mount correctly. Bought this for our older dog who now has to contend with the younger one pulling bedding out to position into sun. Now bedding stays in house, dogs prefer dog house now and they even smell better, not that musty smell. Extremely happy customer here. One of those products I should have bought earlier. I bought it for my old dog's house, I put a sheepskin in there but it still needed more heat, This worked perfectly in our outdoor dog house. At -15°C the inside of the house was 0°C. We mounted it on the ceiling which was at a 75° angle and it worked perfectly. This heater on Low gets very hot to the touch. I would not mount it on the side of a dog house where a dog could fall asleep on it. I bought a remote digital thermometer so I could monitor the temperature in there. It gave me such peace of mind knowing my old girl was warm and safe. PS, use sheepskins in the dog's house, the skin part prevents moisture from passing through into their bodies!LHunt

Purchased the hound heater to place in a insulated dog house in my outside 4 dog kennel in Michigan. Had a below zero cold spell, but the dogs were tucked inside sleeping any time we went to check on them. Warm and dry. I installed it myself without a problem. Pleasantly surprised at how much warmer the dog house is! We put our dogs out in kennels when we leave the house and they already have heating pads in their houses, but this makes it even cozier! Ohio winters get cold, so this should keep them even more comfortable when they have to be outside. Only thing I wish was the control was easier to get at to turn it up and down. Its at the top of the unit and once installed, you cant see it, unless u have a roof that comes off. Make sure you have some sort of door over the opening to keep heat in. I was apprehensive about this product during the ordering but found that it works better than I could have imagined. My dog loves her insulated dog house with this unit on in the cold weather. Had an excellent experience with this heater. The first one arrived broken due to handling, MPC kindly and promptly sent a replacement. We moved our 5 week old chicks (mostly fathered) outside (mid January, temps can get down into the teens where we are) and use this heater at night when the temperature drops below freezing. I have this model Cozy 200W panel heater mounted to the rafters in my coop (6.5' H x 6' W x 4' D) directly over the roost bars (about 2ft above the nearest roost bar, allowing the chickens to move to lower bars if they get too warm) on the high setting and connected to a digital thermostat for more precise control and so far it's doing a great job providing comfortable and gentle heat. It doesn't blast the heat over a small area like a heat lamp, more of a gentle and even warmth across the width of the panel. From about 1 foot away, I can just notice the warmth on my bare hand when the ambient temp is in the 30s. I currently have the t-stat set for 50 degrees F and this panel has maintained the upper part of the coop to around 49 degrees when the temperature has dropped to 34. I leave one of the coop windows cracked open to provide constant fresh air, and the temperature is still stable in the upper part of the coop for the chickens.Daphod74
There is no way to control the temperature of this brooder other than switching from brooder to heater. I do like that it can be used as a coop heater if ever necessary; however, it is way too big for the brooder tub I have. When it is horizontal like a brooder, the chicks get on top and poop all over it. We ended up using it more in heater mode to keep them warm. I would not buy this again. I would buy a heat plate with temperature control to maintain appropriate temperature based on age. I also would want it to be smaller and have a dome on top so the chicks can't get up there and poop on it anymore. I'll probably end up buying one like that elsewhere, then I'm stuck with this dud. I compared the Little Buddy heater with the Portable Buddy Heater for $20 more. I was planning to use it in a tent, and based on the sq ft heating capabilities thought the smaller one would work fine. The Little Buddy heater is VERY topheavy–as soon as I took it out of the box I immediately put it back in and ordered the larger unit. This option felt like it would be unsafe in a tent. I've used the larger option ("Portable Buddy") once and it worked great for what I needed it for. I've been using this buddy heater quite frequently for 2 years now. It puts out a lot of heat, lasts between 5-6 hours as advertised, and it's pretty compact for the ice hut. The only issue I have with it is it doesn't light the way Mr.Buddy tells you to light it. The pilot light heats up the small electrode and allows propane through but unless you lightly lift the little buddy up and down once the propane is flowing, the pilot light won't actually be close enough to the gas being released to light it. It can be tricky because you need to lift it up and down enough to ignite it, but not too hard or the auto shut off will kick in. Usually I can get it the first try, but it does seem to be a tiny design flaw/manufacturing flaw. Doesn't stop be from loving it and using it.Gerry

We have an outside cat that is wild and will not let anyone close to her — we have "fixed" her and feed her but wanted to make her as comfortable as we could with the cold weather. The heated bed fits perfectly into the bed she sleeps in which is in a protected corner of our porch. With the weather here being in the teens and 20's she has spent a lot of time on the pad — so I know she is comfortable. I bought my first about 20 years ago, then shortly after bought another. My dogs passed, so I gave them to a neighbor, which still has them in use. I recently got a medium breed puppy, so I went and got another since I had such good service out of the first two. I would highly recommend to anyone with a pet outside. We get some snow where I live and my dogs always stayed warm and dry.
I mistakenly bought the Large doghouse for dogs up to 90 lbs. But my 5 month old coonhound was too large for it. I returned it and ordered the X-large doghouse and it is the right size. Unfortunately, the doghouse was broken in two places, probably due to the way you ship. These doghouses are delivered without any protection and will crack or break when sliding into anything. I will have to repair it to hold it together since I don't trust you are able to send another one without the same issues.Daniel
