This igloo dog house is absolutely the best thing on the market. Heavy, durable and withstands high winds, rain, and hail. I haven't been able to test in cold temperatures yet as I just received this recently. However, I have no doubts it will definitely hold up. I waited to give a review because I wanted to test out the weather conditions to truly give my 100% honest opinion. Does not come assembled but it's an easy process. The large is quite large. My dog is 60lbs and has plenty of room left in it to move adound. Provides a great shelter. It is constructed very well. You will definitely not be disappointed with this product! Those who have dogs that live outside this would be perfect for. Very well insulated and lining with straw in the winter will make it that much more insulated. We live in Pennsylvania so our winters can be brutal with sometimes 3 seasons in 1 day. I got this igloo-shaped dog house for our Shih Tzu which is 20 lbs. I got this to keep her cool in the warm months when we sit on our patio. It came in two separate pieces in a large box. The top part of the dog house has 4 brackets which easily snaps to the bottom half for quick assembly. I assembled it in our home and needed to carry it out onto our patio through the front of the house since it was too wide to fit through our sliding door. It is surprisingly lightweight for its dimensions, so it is easy to carry to different locations. The top of the house has a round vent with a paw print which can be turned to open or close it as needed for ventilation. Because of its design, there’s room for movement. The smaller opening in the front protects it from the elements such as wind and sun; although rain did get in through that front opening and not the vent. It disassembles quickly for cleaning or even to transport away from home! Although it is a large house, I feel that it is suitable for a medium size dog so that it can have enough room to move comfortably. Once assembled, my dog was confused and leery, which is to be expected since it’s something new! I gently introduced her to the inside and she was able to move around comfortable until she nested on her bedding. I highly recommend this house for any small to med sized pet to be used in the summer to keep them cool and winter to keep them warmer. Yet because it lacks insulation. I would not recommend it for permanent outside shelter in the winter. Additionally, I did notice that it got hot on the patio and thus I had to move it to a shady area to avoid overheating my dog. Bought this for our 7 month old Pyrador puppy, who has already outgrown one house. It was easy to put together, and the sturdist dog house we've ever seen. Plus being insulated is perfect for a cold Indiana winter. She's huge and still growing and loves it. The first night she slept in front of it despite dog treats inside. It’s a great doghouse. He’s already tried chewing the top roof corners off but it hasn’t hurt the integrity of the house. He also won’t get in it. I’m not sure why, because he did get in his crate when it was in his dog pen. He’s a 9 month old GSP. I’m hopeful once he reaches adulthood he’ll stop eating it and actually get in it. I’d totally buy it again though. It’s a great doghouse! I just have a strange dog. He also can’t get on top of it because there isn’t any grip and he slides off. That helps with him not jumping out of the 6’ tall pen.
We got this house for a new Boxador puppy so that it can spend most of its time outside. We found it to be a good product. It was easy to put together and does stay much warmer than the outside air. In rainy weather, it stays dry. It is a very large house which would work for a lab or other large dog. No problems with the dog using the door. Only suggestion: add nuts and bolts for the 6 screws. These are nice dog houses. They are light weight & don't look like they are very warm, but they actually do a good job, my border collies like these a lot. I bought my first about 20 years ago, then shortly after bought another. My dogs passed, so I gave them to a neighbor, which still has them in use. I recently got a medium breed puppy, so I went and got another since I had such good service out of the first two. I would highly recommend to anyone with a pet outside. We get some snow where I live and my dogs always stayed warm and dry.
I mistakenly bought the Large doghouse for dogs up to 90 lbs. But my 5 month old coonhound was too large for it. I returned it and ordered the X-large doghouse and it is the right size. Unfortunately, the doghouse was broken in two places, probably due to the way you ship. These doghouses are delivered without any protection and will crack or break when sliding into anything. It's not extra large, that's for sure. It's a large. My two Berner males at 94-lbs and 120-lbs don't go in because they can barely turn around in it. Nor my 88-lb Pyrenees. The material itself is great. But isn't the point that the dog can get in/out of it so they use it? My smaller 72-lb female uses her Ex-Lg. So is it really the size a medium dog should use? I own 6 of these quality XL dog houses for my Great Pyrenees dog, as well as, my pygmy goats. My goats actually prefer them to there fully enclosed barn. MINNESOTA Winter or Summer, they love to cuddle sometimes 2-3 per igloo. I have never needed to use the flap doors. I think the ventilation is more important. As a bonus they are a great climbing structure, even my guardian dog can be found balancing on top to get a better view of potential predators in the distance. One temporary drawback is the base can be difficult to disassemble from the top, for the first few cleanings. But a large screw drivers works well to pry them apart and they "break in" quite quickly. The directions were weak and adapter ( for large Igloo Dog house} didn't match properly. Had to go on to YouTube to figure out how to make it work. The Igloo is a constant curve making something that is not built for the curve turns into a little more work. The adapter did not compensate for the curve but I did get it installed and I am happy with it and my dog is also. The heat shield needs to be a little lager and more reflective the outside of the dog house gets hotter than I personally would like. I would still recommend it.cmswin
The bracket is supposed to fit an igloo style dog house. The dog house is curved the bracket is flat which makes it difficult to drill mounting holes for the bracket. The mounting holes on the heater were not in the correct location for the bracket (had to drill bracket for heater mounting). It came with a heat shield that did not mount correctly. Instructions were vague at best. Over priced in my opinion.ldduke1961
Bought this for our older dog who now has to contend with the younger one pulling bedding out to position into sun. Now bedding stays in house, dogs prefer dog house now and they even smell better, not that musty smell. Extremely happy customer here. One of those products I should have bought earlier. I have 3 of these, I use them in the winter and my dogs LOVE them. Keeps them at a perfect temperature with out being too hot or too cold. If the dog is not laying on the mat, it doesn't get as hot as if they are actually laying on it. They fit perfectly inside the dogloo and the wire is surrounded in metal to discourage chewing. One of the best investments I have made for my furbabies are their dogloos and heating pads.erin.f

This is not as tall as i expected, but once i got over that, i realized it is just right for one, maybe two cats. It is not waterproof I believe, but it does provide protection from the elections. I took it out and it was already inflated so all i did was plug it in for 10 to 15 minutes to see if it heated up and it does. I wondered how warm it would be but then i realized that not only does the bottom provide constant warmth, the house itself seems to 'hold' the warm air in. This is PERFECT for a porch in winter for cats brave enough to be outside and in need of defense from the elements. I want to get one perhaps for the backyard cat, and to use t his i would want to put it on say some concrete sliders or granite blocks to keep it off the ground and from getting wet. Also would want to cover it in a waterproof tarp perhaps or stake one over it. IF you use the heated outside in the yard, make sure to wrap the plug in electrical tape to keep it from getting wet with snow and rain. To unplug, do it at the outlet. It doesn't appear to pull much wattage so I think the weight on the electric bill for a heated house will be minimal thanks to the warming bed inside and 'walls' that seem to contain the heat. If you don't get the heated, just build small enclosure and set this in, off the ground and that should provide some relief from cold weather.Carolynn
Although too small for my ‘chubby’ kitty! He's a bit SPOILED! But, I bought the next larger cat size and that warmer on his bottom is PURRFECT! I'm sorry. You knew I was going to have to through that in! Especially, because he's in the garage during cooler months. He loves it MUCH BETTER than the cold garage floor! I just got my dog house all set up and wow! It’s great! While my 50lb border collie is a little hesitant of it, I think he will grow accustomed to it! Assembly was not too hard and only took about an hour and a half, I liked the slide and lock mechanics of connecting the walls. The divider wall, heater mount, and hydraulic lid are great features. It is a pretty large dog house but I have a large dog so it is needed, it gives him room to turn around and lay down however he likes. Thanks lifetime!Jordo
This dog house is actually big enough to fit both of our dogs. It took about an hour and 15 minutes for my husband to put it together. The item is super sturdy but light enough that he could carry it and reposition it without any help. The top locks down and easily opens up for us to be able to put their bed in. I love the fact that there is a place to put a space heater for the times they need to stay out for a bit. We’ve had a doghouse before and it just didn’t hold up well after being out in the weather. Lifetime makes such great products that hold up season after season and I know this will be great just like our deck box.Cj C
This dog house was sent to me by Lifetime products to review and I have nothing but good things to say. This dog house is extremely nice quality and over all easy to build. I absolutely love that the roof is an easy to open lid that can be used when you're cleaning it out or needing to check inside. It's big enough to fit my 35 lb dog's bed in there and still have room for other things. The middle panel is removable which I absolutely love. Though I believe I could've built this on my own, having another person helped the building process even easier. Some of the pieces are heavy and big so it helped having another person being able to hold the other end. With 2 people it took us about 2 hours to put it all together. Tools are a must for building, I recommend having a drill and a socket wrench. I highly recommend watching the YouTube videos, they're easy to follow along and are a great visual. Everything is labeled and organized and written down in the instructions that come with the product. The written instructions come in handy when you need to know what items to use in each step. I absolutely love the quality that Lifetime brings to all of their products and the dog house is no exception to this.Madi

I just got this dog house and paid somebody to put it together. Only to find out that it is not extra large. I would consider it medium size. Won’t even fit my lab mix. The flooring and it is also raised and does not feel super sturdy. I would say this house in the size ‘extra large’ is for a 45 pounds and under dog. Will be returning. Very cute though.Aspensdogmom
We were looking for a dog house for our 75 lb German Shepherd & we wanted one he would continue to grow into. This fit the bill. Product arrived quickly and un damaged. Set up was painless and easy. Opening is big enough for him & plenty of room to plop down inside. In less than a year he did break one of the roof attachment rails. Working with New Age Pet wasn't a bad experience and the replacement parts arrived quickly enough. I wish the roof attachment rails were not plastic & were metal to withstand a bit more doggy & wind abuse. But other than that no complaints.CaptainCaveman78
I was looking for a dog house for my two dogs (one 50 lbs the other 60 lbs) to share. I am very happy with this dog house. It's not made out of flimsy wood like a lot of the other houses I looked at. The corrugated ecoflex material is very sturdy and this house is very simple to put together. Each piece is numbered and laying the pieces out in ascending order makes putting this house together a breeze. My dogs fit just fine inside the house and they'll be able to keep each other warm this winter. They are medium sized dogs so they're not very tall, if this house were to be purchased for a large breed the buyer MAY find this house to be too short. ex. A great dane would NOT be able to stand up and turn around in it. I've only had his house for a few weeks so I can not comment on the longevity of this product. The only downfall I've noticed so far is that it does get a little wet on the inside when it rains, I believe they make a plastic flap that can go over the door to help eliminate this problem, I just haven't looked into it yet.
