I used two other deshedding devices immediately before trying this for the first time and it removed PILES of loose fur that the other de shedders left behind. I have a German Shepherd, and I swear that my house, furniture, and clothes have more hair on them than she does. She sheds daily, but twice a year, she "blows" her undercoat. I have a 2 year old Newfoundland who sheds an unbelievable amount! Regular brushes help but they do not really grab the fuzz that is being pushed out as she blows her coat. The FURminator is a life saver when dealing with my Newfie, it gets all the fluff balls that get stuck in her longer hairs and end up causing matts. Every time I use it, I am able to really get her shed out well and without pulling and annoying her too much. The FURminator is absolutely a must for a long haired dog, especially one that sheds a ton. I generally would brush my dog at least 4 days out the week to ensure the product works and it does a great job to minimize the hair in returning. Our dog was going through anxiety, because, she loss her sister of 14 years old and passed away recently. Her anxiety was high, but using the FURminarator it minimize her anxiety. Plus I decided to take her to a new park where a portion is fenced for dogs and this helped with her recovery, but I am still taking her to the park, so she can continue to recover. Our small dogs or big dogs can’t speak when they are hurting and we need to recognize the signs and help them and one is to use the FURminator and any other options you’ve to help your pets’ minimize their anxiety and be that dog again, happy and playful. During the summer months I start with a shedding blade, then move to the Furminator deShedding tool. My dog is only 34 pounds, but his undercoat has an undercoat, which has an undercoat of its own. He's a Husky / German Spitz / Spaniel mix (mostly Spitz, thus the size). I can shed him for hours and still pull hair off of him. While this tool doesn't make short work of the job, it Does keep the hair together so I don't have to chase poofs around the yard. I also like the fact that it trims the undercoat so when the weather is confused he still has some insulation against the cold.It's an easy tool to use and while it does have a little bit of drag to it Momo doesn't seem to be bothered one bit. When I go over the same area for too long he'll shift his weight and that's when I know I was a little overzealous and it's time to move to a new section. The tool is especially nice for his mantle. It leaves the top hair long and pretty while thinning out the fluffy stuff underneath.

I have a 60 pound white boxer with short fur that sticks to and in everything. It really pours off of him like a waterfall anytime someone goes in for pets. I'm honestly surprised he's not bald with the rate he loses fur. I used two other deshedding devices immediately before trying this for the first time and it removed PILES of loose fur that the other de shedders left behind. This deshedding tool has become my absolute favorite! The Furminator is a must-have for me. I have a German Shepherd, and I swear that my house, furniture, and clothes have more hair on them than she does. She sheds daily, but twice a year, she "blows" her undercoat. While I love the original furminator for grooming and shed control, I find myself using this product more for a couple reasons. One, it brushes through my huskies thick double coats much easier than the other product and still pulls off some excess hair, but not as much. Which brings me to part two. I CANNOT use the original furminator inside my home or my wood floors would turn into a Husky carpet so I love that I can brush my dogs inside with this grooming rake and not have the pile up of hair in my living area. My two huskies prefer this brush as well. They sometimes try and walk away when I am using the yellow brush but they will let me brush them for days with the grey grooming brush.bri.b

Furminator’s rakes are a gift from up above. I have had so many different ones from cheap to expensive. Double take to single tape and they seem to go missing a lot? In all that trial and error none have even compared to how well this works. It goes through their undercoat so easy and grabs so much hair with every stroke it’s insane. Mine are great at being crushed, but like most Huskies have the patience of a 2 year old. So this allows me to finish where other combs had me chasing them around trying to finish. I bought this brush for my boyfriends cat about 2 months ago. The cat is a black domestic longhair, and his previous owner hadn't cared for his fur. My boyfriend bought him a cheap brush, and when he hated it profusely, my boyfriend just gave up. He had a large buildup of matts all over him, the worst of them on his lower back and hind legs. Working for about 5-10 minutes at a time, every 3 or 4 days, we gave him a good brushing all over. He tolerated it in the areas that weren't too bad, but since his matts were so bad that they pulled his skin, we had to hold his scruff for the tougher areas to keep him still. 2 months later and his body is 100% matt free, the only ones left are on his tail (his previous owners apparently had children that carried him around by his tail, so he's extremely sensitive to people holding/ brushing his tail, so we delayed the worst of it to the end of the de-matting process). After each session and his treats, he takes a moment to straighten his fur again and is then a visibly more happy cat. This brush not only helped to shave out the matts on his skin and desheds the excess fur to prevent the buildup of more matts, but its gentle enough that his skin is not at risk of being cut or scratched too roughtly. This brush is incredible and made our cat more comfortable in his own skin. 100% recommend for long haired cats with knots or matts, even with sensitive skin.Chris

I just got it very recently and used once for my two cats. One has thick short hair and the other one has average shot hair). I was able to remove large amount of hair from the cat has thick hair. Worked good for thin hair cat though I got weigh less hair out than the other cat. Just be aware this product is heavier than comb or brush and be careful not to drop it on cats or hurt them accidentally. I was scared to use my cats' throat or abdomen. I was not able to use my cats' whole body well, and I need to get used to use this furminator little by little every week. I have a chonk. Enough said. He is a big boy, so naturally I took him to the vet and was informed that he wasn't grooming properly. Which makes sense, he probably cant reach like he should, most likely. I always noticed he had excess "fur" laying on his "fur" but didnt think much of it until the vet said he also had dandruff. The FURminator is -an excellent tool to use on your dogs to remove excess hair,and keep it off. I generally would brush my dog at least 4 days out the week to ensure the product works and it does a great job to minimize the hair in returning. Our dog was going through anxiety, because, she loss her sister of 14 years old and passed away recently. Her anxiety was high, but using the FURminarator it minimize her anxiety. Plus I decided to take her to a new park where a portion is fenced for dogs and this helped with her recovery, but I am still taking her to the park, so she can continue to recover. Our small dogs or big dogs can’t speak when they are hurting and we need to recognize the signs and help them and one is to use the FURminator and any other options you’ve to help your pets’ minimize their anxiety and be that dog again, happy and playful. has been my lifesaver at home for my fur baby. She's a Golden Retriever with some Labrador mixed in and sheds her undercoat like there's no tomorrow! This has reduced the need to sweep daily at home and also the amount of floatie hairs you get when they shake off. It's easy enough that with 30 minutes of grooming every 1-2 weeks reduces the amount of undercoat insanely, without taking too much of the upper hair layer so she's fresh in the warmer days (in photo 1 you can see her first brush of the year). My family got this for our two yellow English labs, one is 11 (90lbs) and the other is 8 months (45 lbs). If you don't know labs shed not only constantly but a TON so we had high expectations. After numerous uses, I have to say this thing works!! We have other undercoat rakes and stuff and even after using those this thing still gets even more hair off! It does take some time as it works best with short strokes, so it would probably be quicker / more efficient on a smaller dog. But even with our big boy if you take the time it gets the job done! Note: as I said Labs shed constantly so while this works great and helps get rid of a ton of hair. It will not completely get rid of or stop shedding. Purchased for my calico kitty. It's heading into spring and hopefully this will be helpful for her shedding season. I really like the handle grip on this brush, each side has a grip that feels really comfortable. As a heads up, don't expect this to be similar to the Furminator de-shedding brushes — this is more of a traditional brush than something to get into a pet's undercoat. I was really hoping this could get into her undercoat, and it doesn't, which is why I'm giving the product four stars instead of five. The advantage here, though, is that you have two sides, a wire brush to get all your pet's shed hair, and a smoothing brush that helps distribute oils to keep your pet's fur looking healthy. This is a smaller brush, so it may not be helpful for a large dog owner. This is perfect for Bella, my cat, however. She likes this brush, she can be skittish about new things — including brushes — but she didn't run away and judge me from a distance (her usual reaction). During the summer months I start with a shedding blade, then move to the Furminator deShedding tool. My dog is only 34 pounds, but his undercoat has an undercoat, which has an undercoat of its own. He's a Husky / German Spitz / Spaniel mix (mostly Spitz, thus the size). I can shed him for hours and still pull hair off of him. While this tool doesn't make short work of the job, it Does keep the hair together so I don't have to chase poofs around the yard. I also like the fact that it trims the undercoat so when the weather is confused he still has some insulation against the cold.It's an easy tool to use and while it does have a little bit of drag to it Momo doesn't seem to be bothered one bit. When I go over the same area for too long he'll shift his weight and that's when I know I was a little overzealous and it's time to move to a new section. The tool is especially nice for his mantle. It leaves the top hair long and pretty while thinning out the fluffy stuff underneath.

Furminators are a must for me now. At least once every few months we have a proper groom (when my labs start to shed) and this is the tool for the job. I would warn though that due to the size, it’s not easy to get into small places and can be tricky to wield around wrinkles/bumps- so I have a little one I use for tricky bits (and our cat) and I leave the legs and face to a softer brush. This thing is made for buisness! That means you have to be far more careful than with some tools. It grabs fur really well so it’s important to slowly go from the top to the undercoat, or you may end up pulling your dog’s skin. Similarly too much pressure can scratch the dog, although our’s have never bled/visibly been hurt- so it may just be uncomfortable when it’s too close to the skin. Being light is very important- you get used to the motion to lift the hair off by raising the wrist at the end of the stroke too. I have had three Furminator tools like this over the years and two of them have lost a tooth each- I haven’t a clue when but it’s something to be aware of. They’re great quality and the grips/button are similar to a really nice bike’s handles. I can’t recommend them enough. Just go easy with how often they’re used- our black lab looked like the night’s sky for a while with the amount of dead skin I was brushing to the top of his coat every day. Habe mir etwas mehr für den Preis vorgestellt. Er funktioniert soweit nur geht leider auch die Klappe (wo man die Haare raus nimmt) beim reinigen ständig auf. Ansonsten erfüllt er so wie günstigere Hersteller seinen Zweck. Nur, dass er stabiler und schwerer ist, ist ein Pluspunkt mehr.

I have a 60 pound white boxer with short fur that sticks to and in everything. It really pours off of him like a waterfall anytime someone goes in for pets. I'm honestly surprised he's not bald with the rate he loses fur. I'll admit that I rarely brush him to begin with, so I am convinced that any sort of regular brushing would have been effective in managing his fur waterfall. But, I do believe the Furminator does a great job in getting the undercoat, especially at this time of year (late spring/early summer). The Furminator has changed by brushing habits for two reasons- 1. My dog seems to love it, and I can tell the daily brushings are effective. We collect less fur each day. 2. The guilt I have over spending $35 on a comb forces me to use it, thus establishing effective grooming habits. It has been the only tool that has caused me to stick to a routine. Solid brush, very well built, effective for short haired dogs, the click-to-cleanout feature is great. Four stars ONLY because it does a fantastic job of loosening fur, but doesn't always remove it from my dog. I make him do zoomies around the yard to get the free floaters off.AllieCamp
Well I thought that the dog had to be long-haired to be able to benefit from the furminator. However, a friend told me that she had a short-haired dog and that it got a lot of loose hair. So based on that I went online and bought one. I discovered that there is a type specifically for short-haired dogs. dk if labs really qualify as short-haired. But it amazed me how much fur I got out. So from now on every time my dogs are clean I'm going to use it to get a couple of hands full of fur, so it is not always in the carpet! I love Southern AG. Really good brush that my dog actually enjoys! Other brushes seem to “hurt” her or make her uncomfortable, but when I use the furminator, she doesn’t want you to stop brushing her! LOL I also really like the button that releases the hairs making it quick and easy to clean the brush and continue brushing her or store for the next time. As far as the brush itself, it DEF brushes her and gets rid of her winter coat- she’s a pit mix and I’m always amazed at the amount of hair that comes off the brush! Def helps keep shedding to a minimum- last thing you want to to pet your dog and have a hand full of hair! So far, have had this for 3+ years now and it’s still going strong and works just as well. It is a little pricey in comparison to other brushes on the market but it’s high quality, durable and something my pup actually enjoys so to me it’s worth it! Highly recommend.phoebe.c

I have a 2 year old Newfoundland who sheds an unbelievable amount! Regular brushes help but they do not really grab the fuzz that is being pushed out as she blows her coat. The FURminator is a life saver when dealing with my Newfie, it gets all the fluff balls that get stuck in her longer hairs and end up causing matts. Every time I use it, I am able to really get her shed out well and without pulling and annoying her too much. The FURminator is absolutely a must for a long haired dog, especially one that sheds a ton. I still use regular brushes for other grooming tasks and to maintain a healthy coat then use the FURminator when she is blowing out her coat. Excellent product and great price.yogaflow2014

As a Certified Dog Trainer for a pet/pet supplies store, I have access to all of different kinds of brushes; and I had tried every single one! (Which was a LOT.) Buy it. Just do it, if you’re looking at this review it’s because your dog is shedding and you’re tired of cleaning up the fur. It’s worth it. I used two other deshedding devices immediately before trying this for the first time and it removed PILES of loose fur that the other de shedders left behind. It works so well beyond the competition that there is truly no comparison. It is a hefty price tag, but worth the investment. Also, my dogs actually enjoyed this one, whereas they would try to squirm away from the others. It must feel like a good scratch to them. It also removed the dander along with the loose fur.Victoria
This deshedding tool has become my absolute favorite! The Furminator is a must-have for me. I have a German Shepherd, and I swear that my house, furniture, and clothes have more hair on them than she does. She sheds daily, but twice a year, she "blows" her undercoat. The fuminator has been a life-saver for me. Since I have started using this on my girl, her shedding has cut way down. I use this on her 2 or 3 times a week normally, but during the coat blowing I use it pretty much daily. It really get down into her undercoat and grabs hold of all that loose hair. My girl doesn't mind me using this on her either. Most undercoat tools seem to hurt her, but not this one…she actually seems to enjoy this one. OMG TAKE MY MONEY! I had the original furminator years ago. I now have a Pomsky. I have to brush him every day otherwise its a fur storm in the house. My daughter was playing with his brush and lost it. UGH! I went out an picked up the furminator today to see if it was any better than the slicker brush and comb I was already using. HOLY MOLY!!! Seriously! The hair!!!! 10/10 recommend! You will be amazed at all the hair coming off your double coat breed. Its nasty.
