I don’t love this cover. There is nothing to hold it onto the crate so it slips about. I am going to sew some ties onto the bottom to help keep it in place. I do like the option to open different parts of the cover for different doors on the crate. The pattern is nice and also.Little cat dog
The cover was just as I expected. Light weight, durable and easy to care for. The oy recommendation I can .American is to add velcro/hook&loop fasteners to keep the top of the cover in place. This would prevent the occupant from chewing and keep the cover in place. The for is drab but it gives the crate a dark den appearance so the occupationt is calm and content. I have found over the years that animals naturally respond favorably to a darkened environment. They are more relaxed and calm. Babies in a crate with natural, artificial, even greatly reduced lighting remain alert, peering into the darkness. They often whine, whimper, or bark, but cover the crate and within minutes, they unwind and are off to sleep. For this reason, I have put dark cloth or a blanket over my crates. Quality product at an awesome price. This crate is heavy duty enough for my 2 year old, 160lb Great Dane. She is able to stretch out and stand up. When she does her pawing at the bedding at bed time it doesn't shake or rattle. Its easy to open and close. Wondering if we were sold a used unit. Missing 3 of the 4 rubber feet the one was already attached. Video shows they shoukd be in a bag and how to install. All 4 corner top supports were there 2 were in plastic bag that was ripped open previously and other 2 were in bottom of crate. Looks like part of the paint was worn off on the corners were the supports go. One of the sliding doors squeals as you slide it closed. Couldn't return it as we sold our previous crate already. Tried to call the manufacturer as it states do not call store have not heard back after 5 messages to them.Brad63126
The packaging of this item was very good. There is a plastic tray in the bottom of the cage, but it is well protected in the box. I took out the crate and it was all one piece, except for the divider. I laid it on the floor and unlatched the obvious clips that were holding the crate in a flat position. There are instructions that come with this crate, but it was so easy to figure out how to fasten the sides, I did not need them. I did review the instructions after and they are very easy to follow and understand. The crate wiring is very sturdy. I have a 45 lb Springer Spaniel and he has no chance of bending the wiring. The latches will not shake open. They fold over and my dog would have to be a magician to open them. There are two entry points. On large area on the lengthy side. And a slider set of doors on the wide side. Both sides have the same type of latches. The tray is very sturdy plastic and can be cleaned very easily. The crate comes with a divider. It is made of the same wiring material. Very sturdy. I only have one dog, so I won't be using it. But it is easy to install. The weight of the crate is not too bad. It comes with a handle on top, but the width of the crate is a bit large to be carrying around far. It is mainly used for repositioning. You won't pick up the crate with your pet inside. But it makes it easy for lifting into my van without my dog inside. I cannot think of any really bad things about this crate. It is a very quality item. Very easy to use. Very easy to fold and stow away when not in use. All in one piece. To get my dog used to using it, I put some treats in the crate. He went right in and was checking it out. Springers love to be in a cave, so I put a blanket over the top and he enjoys his privacy 🙂Charlie
I really like my Lucky Dog Sliding Door Dog Crate. I am disabled so I thought I would have to have someone help me assemble it. But the hardest thing about putting it together was getting it out of the box. Once it was out, it literally took me less than a minute and that was without instructions. It was so easy to see what needed to be done: lift one wall, lift the ceiling and the other wall falls into place. One end has a door with three lift and slide type handles. You can use one, two, or all three. And the front has the sliding door which is nice for a larger animal or for putting the bed in, etc. There is a heavy duty plastic bottom so you don’t have to worry about puppy accidents. There are also plastic sleeves to go on four corners on the bottom to keep it from being fully in contact with the floor, so there’s air flow underneath. This would also protect the floor in the case of the crate moving during use. They also included four corner protectors so that you don’t bang into a sharp edge and injure yourself or damage something. Good thinking. And a really nice feature is the wire wall that locks into place if desired, making the crate a haven for 2 animals or a smaller space for a smaller dog- for instance a puppy that would be overwhelmed by such a large crate now but would need every inch of it later. No need to buy 2 crates- just insert the divider wall now and remove it when the dog has grown enough to use the space. And if I don’t need to use the crate or I need to store it, it folds flat just as it came. Brilliant! I’m sold on this crate! Only downfall is my dog is exposed to whatever is going on around him so I would have preferred to have had this to begin with. The crate had obviously been used and returned. The metal was rusted in places and the plastic bottom tray was dirty. When I decided to return it, It was a challenge to get it back in the box. When I took it back to the store, I asked about a discount and received 15% off (the tax). I had previously bought one that was marked down by 50% because the box was damaged. I was quite disappointed in the whole experience. Apparently the merchandise was supposed to be checked if the box was damaged and that wasn’t done in this case.Janice

I use them when I travel with my dogs too. My dogs only use their crates for sleeping in at night or napping in during the day. During the day, their crate doors are left open. I close the dogs in at night. I don't have an issue with my dogs trying to escape from their crates, so I can't speak to whether or not this would be sturdy enough for a dog that's determined to get out of their crate. These crates are more than sturdy enough for my miniature Schnauzer, Havanese, and Wirehaired Pointing Griffon. All three of my dogs love their MidWest iCrates, as did my previous dog! They go in them voluntarily and when told to "crate up". My only concern with the current crate I ordered is that that one of the latches isn't lined up quite right so it's a bit tight when closing the crate door. I bent it slightly and it works much better. I haven't had that issue with any of the previous MidWest crates I've used. I'm a MidWest crate fan.Eddie09

It definitely is not strong enough for large dogs. Even for short amounts of time. At the moment he is 6 months and 60 pounds. Thankfully he did not get out nor hurt himself! Other than the people who recieved damaged or warped crates, I'm not sure why there are so many reviews claiming it is difficult to assemble. I'm 4'11", 90 lbs, had 3 kids under 5 in the same room, and I assembled it alone without any real difficulties. The aforementioned children are in one of the review photos to show the enormity of the crate. The 9 month old Great Dane is in the other photo. Luckily for me, besides a slightly warped top piece, none of my pieces were bent, warped, or broken. Took about 30-40 minutes to assemble. Certainly would have been faster if I'd had someone helping, like the manual recommends.Brooke

We have a 6 month old cane corso/pit bull mix, he was 55 lbs and he loves his cage! He's got plenty room right now but so far this cage has paid for itself! He hasn't always loved it. Very nice and easy to assemble. Unlike most of the other crates we have used, could only find one sharp edge which, of course, I cut myself on. But I love the how the gates lift up and slide down for extra security on the latch mechanism. Also, the tray is perfect and does not slide around once the crate is assembled properly. Our puppies love it! By the way, have two Frenchton puppies. Their combined weight is about 18 pounds. They travel very well together in this crate. We got the 24 inch.E.

My husband and I got a puppy from the pound. She was only 2 months old when we brought her home. Using this crate for the first year help us keep our home intact! she would only be put in the crate when we were gone, that way we knew she was safe and not getting into trouble chewing furniture or peeing in the house. those two door design is fantastic! I have two of this size (one door model). I have had these things for ohhh, 10 years…I raised three rotty's in them and kept various rescues of all animal kinds in them until I could get them off to rescue people over the years. They did duty in the barn area for poultry for most of the last 6 years and got messed on all over the place, were damp in the winter and were used like tables with a board on top. Ended up with another rescue that might stay…looked at em all poultry encrusted and dusty and cobwebby and shook my head thinking they're done. They have been through the wringer the last 6 years. I realized I really don't have the money to buy new so decided to try to clean them up as a futile attempt to not have to buy more. I had to at least try. 2 hours ,a bucket of warm soapy water, a scrubby , washcloth and a hose later…OMG. They cleaned up GREAT. The handles of the latches were slightly slightly rusty here or there where the black coating flaked off (about the only place it has flaked off and then only small spots), the metal tubes that connects the panels together a little dull, pitted and slightly rusty here or there and that is IT! They still work just fine and they look award winning good considering where they have been. If not for the latches and the connector pieces they could pass as gently used items despite what they have been through. So essentially, if you want a solid, quality crate that is priced reasonably and WORTH every darn penny….go with precision crates. One precision crate could very likely last you all of your adult life if you stayed with the same size dog. As it is now we have the two x lrgs, 1 mediumish, and 2 for 30 lbs or less dogs. And because I am so impressed with what I have,….I'm going to be buying this X-lrg 2 door version to fit in a spot where a single door crate won't work in my house. Remember- Don't throw away an extra crate that is in working order, donate it to someone who can't afford a crate or find a rescue group that needs it (crates are good for lots of different animals).Windchyme

The medium size I got was a lot bigger than I thought which is a wonderful surprise. I’ve split it into 2 and the double doors make it possible. I am currently training my little pup to use the other side as a bathroom as he weathers his first Chicago winter. Love it! And the great thing is the large window on the side is able to be tucked in the top to keep one side always open. The other smaller door doesn’t tuck on the top but that doesn’t bother me because that door is against the wall and not an issue at all. Quality seems great. Have had it for a few weeks and I love it. And so does my lil 10lb pup in his medium crate (but it’s large for him!). I love Petco. So sorry I can’t give this kennel a 5 star rating. Love the style. Purchased “large” size for 40 pound female lab/hound mix, 17 months young; fit perfectly (even 75 pound male “cousin” slept curled up a couple of times, for novelty). She’s not perfectly kennel/crate trained. Visiting our daughter & didn’t want dog to run around unsupervised. 1st time used kennel successfully for a few hours. 2nd time unfortunately used a lot longer. She was observed on camera chewing/pulling on rear end and pushing way out of bottom (latched) small front door. She got minor abrasions on cheek and paw; was a TIGHT SQUEEZE out. MOST UNFORTUNATE! Ughhhh; other purchasers had reported wire weaknesses, but I truly wanted to believe that my dog wouldn’t be strong enough. I will talk to customer service now. We have a growing 7 month-old newfypoo so needed to upgrade our crate to a larger size. I chose this crate for 2 specific reasons: #1, the height and #2, the top-folding door on the side of the crate. My newfypoo needed the additional height so he isn't hunched over if he's sitting up. The height on this size has given him an inch or two of extra clearance and should still work when he's done growing. For the 2nd point, I LOVE the top-folding side door. Because of where we keep the crate, we only use the side door and it has been awesome not having to walk around a door that opens to the side and is in the way of the main flow of traffic. Even though the crate is noticeably bigger than our old one, it feels like it takes up the same amount of space because of that door. I can't speak highly enough of it. For more practical items, the crate is very sturdy and well made. There were no problems with shipping and other than needing a little muscle, the crate went together very easily. My newfypoo isn't one that will try to escape from a crate, so I can't speak to that, but I have been very impressed with the quality of this crate and how easy it was to get my big-little puppy used to it. This kennel looks great in your home. It’s much more decorative than a traditional crate. And for the price of why not? Well that’s easy. It’s not as functional as a traditional kennel. I read reviews before buying this, and a lot of those reviews stated that their dogs tore this kennel apart. But I thought my dog shouldn’t have a problem with that because she is crate trained. As a matter of fact she went into her old kennel willingly without anyone asking all of the time. It was her safe space I think. Never tried to break out. But the thing with this kennel is the material that it is made out of is weak and if you’re a pitbull, very soft. My dog chewed the bars out with ease and the fake wood was like bubblegum to her. I love the small "escape proof" crate! Its a gem! The price is great especially with free shipping! my chihuahua figured out how to escape from her other crate and caused a huge ruckus in the apt complex. Putting this together – I would say that the plastic is a good construction, the clasps and screws are great, and the metal bars for the windows look to be a decent quality. They ship you extra clips and screws in case you have a problem. I personally don't like the wheels (on any crate), so I'll leave those off and the pet bowl might be okay if I was sending the dog via airplane. The Large size isn't very large in my opinion. A dog should be able to stand up, turn around and lay down. I think this crate is more like a 50 pound max than 75. My 10 week old Golden Female Retriever will likely outgrow this kennel in 6 months and be in that weight range. In a way I'd like to exchange it for a bigger one.RichH

So thankful for this crate set. It came just in time for us to take a last minute 8-10 hour round trip. I was glad to be able to leave our pup at home with food and water! Purchased the 48” and the bowls are giant! Great for lots of water but silly looking for only 1-1.5 cups of dry food. The cover is nicer in person, I was afraid it was going to look like a tarp or plastic garbage bag but it’s good quality. Super easy setup, this is folding even though it’s not in the title. My pup does try to chew it a bit but so far no damage. I did have to remove the bed because he was clawing it and eating the fibers that he pulled off. I did wash the bed and lay in sun to dry. Washed well. Divider easy to use. This is my first ever wire crate. The least likeable part is how easy it is for my kids to open anytime they want. Wish there was a child lock! Haha. My pup is a Lab/Border Collie/hound mix. Went with 48” because I have no idea how big he will get. The height is perfect because he is super tall.
