My Lurcher Heidi had to have a mammary tumour removed. She was terrified wearing an Elizabethan collar. So I got her a Buster collar but being long nosed Sighthound and with a flexable neck she could reach her stitches. The "Suitical" vest I got her from D forDog was absoulutley amazing. Comfy, stretchy and easy to wash and dry. It covered the area allowing healing . For toileting I just un-did the press studs and took her back legs out of the garment and rolled the Suitical back to her shoulders. Then when she had been to the toileting area I simply rolled it back and put her back legs through and did the garment up. It was similiar to a childs body suit. I can't praise this garment enough. I bought this in a large in the blue color for my 65 pound Pit and it fit him perfectly! It was really easy to put on him and he seems very comfortable in it, I also love the zipper on the bottom because it makes it so much easier for him when he goes to the bathroom. I typically use when we go for hikes to prevent ticks since he has dark gray fur and they are difficult to see. I think the fit is probably ideal for certain types of dogs but not others. The zipper made me nervous that it would be easy to accidentally pinch her skin and I’m not sure she could go to the bathroom wearing it, even unzipped. We ordered this to give our old girl something to keep a growth under her chest from wobbling while she walks, and to keep her warm as she ages. At 13, she still has the need to walk. My Doberman Pinscher "Harry" had broken his front right "pinky toe" bone rough housing. My vet Took care of him with a specially made splint and wrap. They suggested I get this splint which would eliminate all the gauze wrap etc. He wore it for three days and started walking normally. Well after about the fifth day, Harry would have it on just going out for walks. By weeks end, it's back in it's original packaging and mailing envelope. Probably won't need it again but just in case, keep it in his medical box. Nice product. The extra padding I purchased, I used a little bit to make a slot for his carpel to slide down into. This is so the carpel didn't get squashed between his leg and the splint. He seems to be doing fine now, back to chasing squirrels in the trails.Alden
The product is very well made and easy to put on. It does not work for my dog because he has no feeling in his leg. I bought it to use as a splint for his foot contracture. I bought this because service dogs amaze me and I had to read this story. This is a great story, it does jump around a bit form the actual 911 attacks back to his childhood and back and forth. Once you get used to that it is an easy read. I am almost finished with it and I am very glad that I bought it, it was interesting and immersed you totally into what was happening that tragic day.smokey17033
Their are those moments you remember in life for the rest of your years on earth. Those big moments that stay with you weather good or bad. On September 11,2001 is a day everybody always ask where were you on that day and it's one you know exactly where you were. It was the day terrorist took down the world trade center and killed hundreds of innocent people. In this book we go through the day from the view of a man that was in the building and lived to tell his story. His story is different though,his name Michael Hingson and he was born blind. I learned so much from this book. He goes back between telling of that day in the stairway coming out of the trade center and back to his childhood and growing up blind. He tells us what it was like growing up with no sight. This book made me think of what it must be like to grow up and live never seeing anything. Now take yourself to that horrible day and imagine trying to get out a falling building with no sight. He tells of him and guide dog getting out and one story touched me in it. A lady was afraid they were all going to die in the stairway and a group gaithered around her and gave her comfort and his guide dog nudged the womans hand and she petted the dog. It makes you truly see how smart dogs are and what a wonderful comfort and help they truly can be to people. This is a great read and one of the best accounts of a person who survived 9/11. Thunder Dog is the story of Michael Hingson, who was blind from birth and was at the World Trade Center when it was struck on September 11, 2001. Michael was a district sales manager for a data protection company that was located on the 78th floor of the World Trade Center. Through this book you will learn of Michaels acount of escaping the World Trade Center, but also of his life of being blind since birth. Michael was never taught that his blindness was something that prevented him from being successful in life, but that he instead could do just about anything he wanted in life. Michael was never thought of as different from the other kids that he grew up with, but instead participated in almost all the activities that friends took part in. Michael discoved ways to prevent his blindness from limiting him and eventually, with the assistance of his guide dog, escaped from his workplace after it was attacked on 9/11. This book is more than just an account of one man’s escape of the Twin Towers on the day it was attacked, but also of how we cannot let things that hinder us, hold us back. There are ways around the obstacles in our lives and we have the ability to be successful even if we have what other people may call “limitations” or “dissabilities”. It was a terrific book to read and it was a great source of inspiration.
