This kennel looks great in your home. It’s much more decorative than a traditional crate. And for the price of why not? Well that’s easy. It’s not as functional as a traditional kennel. I read reviews before buying this, and a lot of those reviews stated that their dogs tore this kennel apart. But I thought my dog shouldn’t have a problem with that because she is crate trained. As a matter of fact she went into her old kennel willingly without anyone asking all of the time. It was her safe space I think. Never tried to break out. But the thing with this kennel is the material that it is made out of is weak and if you’re a pitbull, very soft. My dog chewed the bars out with ease and the fake wood was like bubblegum to her. I love this kennel because of the way it looks in my room but for how strong it is NOT, it is incredibly over priced.BrianaL02

Got the kennel together put our 50 pound pup in it. Left to run some errands. Came back he was still locked up but had destroyed the door, bent the wires. It is a thin type of material. The sides and such are put together with plastic screws, not metal. A big minus for me was the bottom for the crate. I am using to created train a puppy, I was hoping it had a pan like the metal crates with sides to catch urine. Instead it is just a flat piece that fits inside, leaving gaps around the edges. This crate is great for a dog that enjoys being kenneled. The walls are held together with eight plastic screws and the whole thing can be lifted easily by one adult… couldn't be more than 50lbs. There is a warning on this product to only start the screws with a power screwdriver. My advice is to use a hand screwdriver ONLY. The holes are drilled too large for the size screws that are used where even tightening by hand will strip the hole. Also, the many of the holes where the screws are hidden by plastic plugs are drilled too large where I had to shim the holes to get the plugs to stay in. Sad, because the design is attractive and the size is perfect for our dog. So long as it stays in one place, it shouldn't loosen up. However if I do see it loosening, I will simply disassemble it, apply wood glue to the joints and screw it back together with clamps until the glue dries. The manufacturer should be held accountable by LTDC for correcting these issues!BobD8487
I guess I should have figured it was poor quality with the price.As other sites were more but they seemed bigger so tried but not a good choice.The holes didn’t all line up. A couple started to split. Didn’t use power drill like recommended probably would have destroyed it. Back panels are a very thin and if pushed on by dog will break or pop out. Latch doesn’t stay closed so dog could figure out how to slide it open. And if using in house as end table anything you put on it will scratch it or spot it. Looks cheap.The pressed board pieces have a dull & shiny side which all don’t match. Going to have to repaint it with a paint that will hold up and maybe a piece of real wood or veneer on top to make it look presentable. Purchased the dog crate because it seemed functional but attractive. The crate actually is finished nicely. But as we were putting it together we realized one of the back panel was not included. At that point we had the crate almost completed. I called Lakeside to inform them. They had me to take apart the crate, box it and send it back to them. They told me they would then send a replacement crate after they received the defective crate. I only needed one back panel. They informed me that they could not send just a part. I'm not much into writing reviews, but the ease of assembly for this dog house is ridiculous. Everything you need is in the box (about 6 pieces). It took me literally 5 minutes. Normally one might equate simplicity with poor quality, but this thing weighs a substantial amount. Mahogany finish is beautiful. Also has nice slats for your dog to peek out of. The only caution flag I would say is be careful when lifting–make sure you lift from the bottom, not the top, as the top may come off in the process.JMA
"Okay lets just start by saying I'm CHEAP and to spend even 1/3 of this cost on a dog crate was crazy! However, I will say that this DenHaus TownHaus is AMAZING!! SOLID WOOD…yes you heard right..not cruddy particle board or plastic that will break in a few months or years….were talking SOLID!! The ease at which it snaps together is amazing…add to that you can easily slide the wood front out of the door and your dog can go in and out at their own desire. The latch on the door appears to be solid brass….beautiful and STRONG and STURDY!!! This thing is beautiful and you can't tell its a dog crate at all!!!! If you have a pet and need a nice way to crate them without ruining your home's esthetics….I promise this is the one you want to buy!! It's painful for me to say its worth every penny….but I will tell you to not have a big ugly cage in my home….and to have a solid wood piece of furniture instead….well it is one of those ""you get what you pay for!"" Invest because we all understand that this is not a 1 year investment for your pet but a 10-20 year investment…this product will hold up and stand the test of time….I'm very impressed and I'm very hard to impress!!! +++One last thing….we have a very small dog (Bichon Puppy, less than 5lbs) and we did get the SMALL TownHaus but the inside is small and should be fine to her projected 12lbs but it will be tight with blankets and bedding, so whatever your ""Normal"" size you might want to consider going to the next size up (we would have gotten a Medium had we known)….to be safe and have something that will LAST A LIFETIME!!"J. I am so completely happy I got this beautiful crate! It was sent and delivered the same week I ordered it which is amazing in itself. I found the directions for assembly very easy to follow, aided by the fact that the pieces were all marked clearly. I put it together alone and it took me just under two hours. I bought this crate because I was honestly too lazy to build another for my dogs. The look is clean and I like that it is tall enough for my dogs to not have to hunch over if sitting and looking out. It was also easy to assemble if you have basic build knowledge/ screw driver experience but there are a couple poor design qualities: 1) The designers supplied two latches to be installed INSIDE the crate living space for one door to be able to latch closed to the frame. Yes, this is essential but my dogs like to dig and fluff and get comfy and my pit has very easily scratched skin. There is no doubt my dogs would eventually get scratched on the cheap metal latches supplied. That paired with the fact that I don’t have time to reach into the crate while my dog is attempting to exit out of one side of the door. They’re too big and will need both doors open to exit. I will be altering this design to latch on the outside. 2) The actual door latch. Being placed in the middle of two hinged doors makes a weak attachment and the latch to secure your dog in the crate should attach to the crate frame to be secure. This ties into the above issue but again, I will be altering to make it more secure. If you have little dogs that can’t put much weight against the door, you’re fine. But with medium sized dogs, I’d rather not risk getting the particle board split on accident if my dog leans her fat butt against the door. 3) Its particle board. So price is a little high just for that. 4) the door handles are fragile. Will be replacing. A few easy alterations to secure the doors and I’ll be perfectly happy with this crate. The large is good more medium sized dogs. I have a 25lbs border collie mix that it is perfect for and my fat 50lbs pit will be able to use it as well since she likes to curl up. Also, for those asking about where the pee goes… this is a dog crate for house trained dogs and is not meant for a dog to live and potty in. The removable tray is there and easily slides in and out in case of an accident but hopefully you’re able to let your dog out to go potty before an accident happens.88JenS
