This kennel looks great in your home. It’s much more decorative than a traditional crate. And for the price of why not? Well that’s easy. It’s not as functional as a traditional kennel. I read reviews before buying this, and a lot of those reviews stated that their dogs tore this kennel apart. But I thought my dog shouldn’t have a problem with that because she is crate trained. As a matter of fact she went into her old kennel willingly without anyone asking all of the time. It was her safe space I think. Never tried to break out. But the thing with this kennel is the material that it is made out of is weak and if you’re a pitbull, very soft. My dog chewed the bars out with ease and the fake wood was like bubblegum to her. It is flat on the bottom, not hurting your dog, it comes with a bed liner, it has plenty of doors to open for options, and the best is that it folds up and rolls away when you need it. The crate had obviously been used and returned. The metal was rusted in places and the plastic bottom tray was dirty. When I decided to return it, It was a challenge to get it back in the box. When I took it back to the store, I asked about a discount and received 15% off (the tax). I had previously bought one that was marked down by 50% because the box was damaged. I was quite disappointed in the whole experience. Apparently the merchandise was supposed to be checked if the box was damaged and that wasn’t done in this case.Janice
I've owned dogs for the last 40 years. I've used MidWest wire crates for my last 4 dogs. This iCrate didn't disappoint. It's sturdy and and easy to put up and take down. I use them when I travel with my dogs too. My dogs only use their crates for sleeping in at night or napping in during the day. During the day, their crate doors are left open. I close the dogs in at night. I don't have an issue with my dogs trying to escape from their crates, so I can't speak to whether or not this would be sturdy enough for a dog that's determined to get out of their crate. These crates are more than sturdy enough for my miniature Schnauzer, Havanese, and Wirehaired Pointing Griffon. All three of my dogs love their MidWest iCrates, as did my previous dog! They go in them voluntarily and when told to "crate up". My only concern with the current crate I ordered is that that one of the latches isn't lined up quite right so it's a bit tight when closing the crate door. I bent it slightly and it works much better. I haven't had that issue with any of the previous MidWest crates I've used. I'm a MidWest crate fan.Eddie09
We bought this in April 2022 for our Rhodesian Ridgeback mix puppy. He was weeks old when we rescued him. He was a Parvo pup and barely survived, so rest and his own quiet space was highly recommended for recovery. We first used the divider which was great. However, as he grew, so did his strength. It definitely is not strong enough for large dogs. Even for short amounts of time. At the moment he is 6 months and 60 pounds. Thankfully he did not get out nor hurt himself! I also like the zippered openings at the top and the side. It is easier to get the cat in from the top. The crate is very sturdy and I like the larger handles. I got this product for a cat carrier to go to vet appointments. First impression, definitely worth the price tag and super sturdy! We opened it and let both our cats explore and get comfortable in it. They fell in love and currently it’s still in my living room with two flaps up secured with the velcro. They have been fighting over whose “house” it is so I didn’t have the heart it to take it down since one compromised using the top net opening as a hammock! The colors are nice and so far it’s held up great! For size reference my cats are 11 and 16 lbs and both fit comfortably in it for a car ride to their appts or traveling. If you are needing to purchase a new dog crate, this is the brand and model I highly recommend. Midwest had several levels of crates but I have found that you cannot go wrong purchasing the Lifestage's model. They are solidly made and last forever. I always purchase the double door crates. They have cheaper models & more expensive ones too. I would not recommend their icrate as they are cheaper but they are also not had solidly made as the Lifestage's. Spend the extra $10-$15 and purchase the Life Stages model. It is well worth the money. I have had great success purchasing there crates at Petco.com. I always receive my items within a couple of days. It is also nice when you have a Petco store nearby where you live. If you have any issues with the merchandise you received, they have always been very accommodating and made sure they did whatever was necessary to correct the problem, return the merchandise at a full refund and/or replaced the item. I just received this crate a couple of days ago for my Saint Bernard mix pup. The size is perfect and he has tons of room to grow in it. The doors latch nicely and the crate is very sturdy. We received this very fast! The only downfall I had with this purchase was that when we removed it from the box and set it up, there was a decent sized crack (all the way through) on the tray. I won't be replacing the tray as I've spent enough on this crate. I had been looking at the end table style crates thinking that would look nicer and less bulky then the 4' x 4' X-pen I have in my living room. But, comfort is the main criteria and I wanted my Whippets to feel they could stand and dig through a deep pile of bedding, so I went with this crate. I like to rearrange the furniture so I bought the double door style to keep my options open. For my two Whippets I bought the 42" x 28" size which has been more then enough room for them to lay side by side or end to end. It arrives flat, but you just fold out the sides and it is ready to go. It came with a handle so it could be 'portable', but at this size it is heavy and I don't plan to take it anywhere, so I didn't attach that. I left the X-Pen up for them while they made the transition, but they hopped into the new crate the minute I put it up and haven't been back in the X-Pen (even though it still has more bedding in it). The black wire instantly looked better then the metal of the X-Pen and I'm staining a piece of wood I put trim molding around for the top (I had it cut to size at Home Depot) so I'll have an end table style look, but the height and comfort the pups want for their 'cave.' Very happy and buying a second one to have at the office for the days they come to work with me. Both crates and the wood top are costing less then the end table style crate, so all three of us are happy!psh1

I purchased two of these "KennelMaster 24" Folding Black Wire 2 Door Dog Crate" and have had them for several months. What a great buy! Super easy to set up: they come preassembled and all folded up. They unfold and set up in a minute. I have one for each of my dogs: a Maltese/Bichon mix and a Chihuahua mix (who looks just like a small German Shepherd). We use their crates for the night time and when we leave the house. These crates are made of very nice thick metal. Incredibly sturdy. The latches are well made and smart-doggy proof. I like that the bottom is solid and can be easily removed and sanitized. My dogs have scratched and nibbled on the bars daily and the crates have held up like new. There are two doors on each crate: one door on a long side and one door on a short side. There's also a handle on top which makes it really easy to move around when I am relocating it, transporting the dogs, or just moving the crates to vacuum and clean underneath. My crates also came with some additional wire dividers that I don't use. I believe they are for making the crate smaller when you have a puppy and removing it as your dog grows. Crates can be really expensive so I was glad to find these at such a bargain price, especially because they are so well made. I know these crates will last many, many years. I have no negative things to say about these dog crates. I would highly recommend them! Please note: I do not put both dogs in the same crate, though they do both fit. After reading all of the other reviews I thought for sure that my escape artist husky would not be able to get out of this. And boy was I wrong, it took her a total of about 10 minutes to figure out how to pick the locks and let herself out. I had to wrap a big steel chain with a pad lock on it to prevent it from being opened. For the price, save your money for a better kennel thats actually going to do the job as advertised. Love it. My daughter has a golden that has eaten through 1 wire kennel and 2 air plane Kennels. Hes not getting through this one. Haha. I would have liked the top tray where the dog sleeps to have been solid. The wire slots let the paw slip through. Other than that perfect kennel.carljo_56

This guy can break a caribiner off a cage, just about every time. This cage is between genuine heavy duty to medium crate. All panels bolt down w 2 bolts top n bottom, for a total of 4 bolts per side. Great crate! Large crate!
I would have rated the cage with 5 stars but unfortunately there were a few bends in the frame from shipping when it arrived. After carefully straightening that bends the cage is just what I wanted. It was already pretty much assembled you just had to unfold the sides, attach the wheels and top then tighten the bolts holding the sides to the bottom. We have a powerfully built 40 pound mutt who can muscle her way out of her old crate by popping the single latched door open. We had to add an extra clip to the door to keep her in the crate, which is a pain getting the clip on and off to let her in and out. She can’t gorse the door on this crate open due to the double latches AND the extra “hook” on the tip that holds the latches in place. My little bulldozer can’t open this crate by force and go counter surfing, much to her dismay.TKettle

There is a warning on this product to only start the screws with a power screwdriver. My advice is to use a hand screwdriver ONLY. The holes are drilled too large for the size screws that are used where even tightening by hand will strip the hole. Also, the many of the holes where the screws are hidden by plastic plugs are drilled too large where I had to shim the holes to get the plugs to stay in. Sad, because the design is attractive and the size is perfect for our dog. So long as it stays in one place, it shouldn't loosen up. However if I do see it loosening, I will simply disassemble it, apply wood glue to the joints and screw it back together with clamps until the glue dries. The manufacturer should be held accountable by LTDC for correcting these issues!BobD8487
I guess I should have figured it was poor quality with the price.As other sites were more but they seemed bigger so tried but not a good choice.The holes didn’t all line up. A couple started to split. Didn’t use power drill like recommended probably would have destroyed it. Back panels are a very thin and if pushed on by dog will break or pop out. Latch doesn’t stay closed so dog could figure out how to slide it open. And if using in house as end table anything you put on it will scratch it or spot it. Looks cheap.The pressed board pieces have a dull & shiny side which all don’t match. Going to have to repaint it with a paint that will hold up and maybe a piece of real wood or veneer on top to make it look presentable. Purchased the dog crate because it seemed functional but attractive. The crate actually is finished nicely. But as we were putting it together we realized one of the back panel was not included. At that point we had the crate almost completed. I called Lakeside to inform them. They had me to take apart the crate, box it and send it back to them. They told me they would then send a replacement crate after they received the defective crate. I only needed one back panel. They informed me that they could not send just a part. Seems they made me jump through hoops to resolve this situation. I won't buy anything else from Lakeside that has parts or needs to be assembled.Minnie2069

The cover was just as I expected. Light weight, durable and easy to care for. The oy recommendation I can .American is to add velcro/hook&loop fasteners to keep the top of the cover in place. This would prevent the occupant from chewing and keep the cover in place. The for is drab but it gives the crate a dark den appearance so the occupationt is calm and content. I have found over the years that animals naturally respond favorably to a darkened environment. They are more relaxed and calm. Babies in a crate with natural, artificial, even greatly reduced lighting remain alert, peering into the darkness. They often whine, whimper, or bark, but cover the crate and within minutes, they unwind and are off to sleep. For this reason, I have put dark cloth or a blanket over my crates. Please be aware that this product will take weeks to get. Bass Pro advised an arrival date, and that date came and went. I contact them, and they advised if you scroll down it states that it is a drop ship item. So it was in the fine print, but should be shown during checkout/shipping. Bass pro advised that I would just have to wait, and nothing I could do to track it. The customer service lady was very nice, and stated this problem happens and nothing is done about it. I then contacted Owens direct, and they were able to locate it via the Bass Pro order number. Just a headache I wish I was aware of, and hope you are now too.BeAware

There are so many awful crates/kennels out there! From the craptastically-made ones that double as end tables to the ugly, wiry kind… This Richell kennel is most excellent. The 4 wheels make it easy to move from room to room (and you can lock the wheels, too), assembly is easy, and the top opening is the best feature of all that I never thought about needing. This is a very solid, thoughtfully-designed, carefully manufactured crate for small and medium dogs–though I can't speak to how it would hold up to an obsessive chewer. Beautiful and a roomy size for small or medium sized dogs. I've only had it for a while, but so far, very sturdy too. The tabs inside are great for pressing the edges of potty pads to keep them from scrunching up. The wheels are convenient, but unfortunately you can't lock all 4 and it slides on hard surfaces. The open doors are great also. I wish it had a slide out tray like the large black wire cages. It is hard to get yourself down and inside to wipe the floor of the kennel clean. Over all, it is attractive and comfortable for puppies and small dogs.selket
This crate is great! I have a recent rescue that is not fully housebroken. I needed a crate that I could keep in my living area that looked good and didn't take up a lot of space to use when I leave the house for more than an hour! He loves it.
