I knew about this product for several weeks, but I delayed in getting it. I thought I'd give the puppy a chance with regular training methods (treats, praise, verbal corrections) before I started futzing with a special collar and have to buy it in two sizes. That was really stupid. I wish I would have bought it sooner and spent the money on the two sizes. I got this one in a size Medium and it fits perfectly with just an easy adjustment of the buckle. Our little man is a Labradoodle, now at about 32 lbs and expected to reach a 60-ish weight probably. He is VERY high energy, very strong and very smart, but our little darling is no longer little and I have been finding myself struggling with his 32 lb self pulling on the walks. I cannot imagine when he is full grown, so I decided finally to nip this in the bud and I ordered the gentle leader. It arrived today and I was amazed at how he has NO power to pull AT ALL. I even noticed that in many situations like when he would normally lunge at something, he didn't, maybe that is just from the novelty and will eventually wear off, but for today, it was as if he had a total attitude adjustment. It was like magic. He is none too pleased about the new situation, for sure, but I am pleased as punch. Will take a few days of working with him to get used to it so he stops trying to pull it down with his paws, but even when he was trying he couldn't get it off successfully unless I let off on the tension to the leash altogether which I was able to correct for easily enough. I have an 18 month old standard poodle. I’ve had her since 9 weeks old. She’s full of energy and gets super excited. I’ve trained her well on a typical lead but I was having issues controlling her when she would get excited by people and animals. Fostering a Catahoula right now that has broke 2 of these collars in a total of 5 days. She needs this to keep her from scratching her ear while she heals. One of them she tore a nine inch long 3 inch wide chunk out of. The other she split from the outer edge all the way to the neck. More fiddly to undo than the previous version. Particularly difficult when the dog is rubbing his face trying to get it off after a walk. It fastens with a plastic snap buckle now. You have to slide a little tab to release it. However this tab isn't obvious that you have to slide it. Front strap is attached via a plastic sliding holder. Easier to manage than forcing the end of a clip through the hole in the strap as before. Other than the updates the muzzle is the same material etc. He managed to get the old one off during the rain & I couldn't find it, so had to buy a new one I would like to see the loop for the collar made bigger, as my dog's collar is a tight squeeze to thread through. I did notice they come in brown, blue, pink & black now. I do think it's better not to only have black available. I'm guessing the baby blue & pink ones look a lot softer on the face. At this price they only had black so I stuck with it. His snout is black so it doesn't look too bad. This style is longer than the original Baskerville. They are quite a bit too short for my dog& definitely no room for a headcollar. You can fit a dogmatic under this style comfortably & there is still room to pant. Exactly what he needs.maddoghouse11
I use these Baskerville Ultra muzzles for my family dog training business for the dogs that may bite. You may have to take some yarn and wrap it around the parts of the muzzle usually on the dog's nose that might otherwise get rubbed. All in all, it's a pretty good muzzle. It is possible for a dog to still bite while wearing this muzzle, but you also need to have some leash handling skills to prevent this. You also need to size your muzzle correctly…they should be able to open their mouth as wide as necessary to pant while wearing one of these. I know several breeds that have to wear a muzzle so I have to agree with you above. They aren't the only dogs that have to wear a muzzle. I have a dog right now that is Weimaraner and Australian cattle dog and some pit and for some reason today she is wanting to bite people. So I am getting this until she settles down.Barbara

This is a very nicely made unobtrusive muzzle for my female Dober. Her snout circumference goes from 8.5" above the canines to 10" at the widest point. Snout length is 4.5". This fits VERY well. She has room enough to open her mouth slightly to drink but not enough to nip when frightened. I use a muzzle for only a few minutes while she learns that a new behavior (picking her up, examining her paws) does no harm. This is my first muzzle. Like others say, just putting a muzzle on and calmly talking to the dog seems to stop fear aggression in it's tracks. Every other Dober I've had for over 40 yrs. laid down and calmly let u take care them. I have to wonder what has been done to this young girl to make her so scared of routine maintenance things. Even tho it doesn't state it on this package, this muzzle is made of a medium nylon cloth on the outside with a waterproof nylon on the inside. It is sturdy yet looks better on the dog than it does on the package 🙂seachild123
I don't like it when I have to use it on my husband's dog but when were in a big city and not in the country well let's just say my husband taught her bad stuff she cost us a $3,000dollar fine the last time we were in Texas because she went after another ladies tiny dog and we can't have that so when were the city we use this so it won't happen again this does fit snug so she can't pull it off her head but she can still lick and drink water with this on so if a full grown pitbull can't get it off then you should be good with any other size dog they have sizes that would fit any type or size dog.brittney.t
Theres are mixed reviews on muzzles. Looks like some big dogs can tear the materials on different brands. This xxs or size0 works perfectly on my puppy yorkie. Cant pull it off and keeps him from biting the older Yorkie with one bad leg causing him to not be able to walk while recuperating. Also calmed down the puppy yorkie realizing he cant terrorize the other one.. TWO THUMBS UP!!!ford9ers2780
