We have purchased quite a few items from PetSafe over the years and have always been happy with the quality. The idea of it is cool. Our pup likes to go the park but I always take the older car. The gray color of this is nice and it doesn't look too bad with my new car interior. It secures to the headrest and seats. The bolster is quite firm and supportive but it isn't my favorite PetSafe item by far. While inserting the bolster, my fingers kept poking through the fabric. I've dealt with the same type of fabric before with other beds and never had an issue. Once I got it in there, the zipper was stretched to the max. I was sure it was going to be the first thing to go. It says this bed is machine washable but I wouldn't. The actual fuzzy part of the bed has a cushion you insert too but even with it, there's no "bed" at all really. Very thin materials. It's not holding up well so far. If you have a smaller dog that doesn't move around much in the backseat it may work better. I just don't think it holds up good for big dogs like mine. My wife's car has leather seats and we noticed that the bed slips all over the place. No grippers on the bottom at all. I can't really recommend it.semiller3

We use to use a sheet on the back seat when taking the dogs for car rides, it would move around and not really protect the back seat. This car dog bed was so easy to install and our dogs love it. It was very easy to install and doesn’t slip around due to the bar that goes between the car seat cushions. It’s large enough for our 18lb dog and almost large enough for our 45lb dog but she loves small beds! Love it! I bought two after my German Shepard slipped halfway into the footwell even though he was strapped in with his sleepy pod terrain harness. We liked the first cover so much that a few days later we purchased a second one. The cover installs very, very easily, fits and covers the rear seat and the back of the front seats of our Subaru Tribeca perfectly, has flaps that cover the door-side edges of the rear seat, and stays perfectly in place. Spilled or tracked water beads up on the material and can be easily wiped off. At first our dog did tend to slide just a little on the new cover, but he soon learned to stand, sit, and lay just as well as he did before on the uncovered seat. The hammock portion seems like it might provide some little bit of protection in a sudden stop (our guy will chew apart any "doggie seat belt" type of restraint in very short order – so that option is out of the question for us). As to keeping him out of the car front-area – well, our long-legged Standard Poodle has no problem in still looking closely out the front windshield by putting his front feet on the center console – straddling the hammock – with no problem whatsoever. But we did discover that having the hammock in place does allow us to safely keep his water bottle and dish, his leash, and an old towel on the floor under the hammock – where he can no longer get at them (especially the leash and towel) to chew on them. All in all, an excellent seat cover.
We bought a black one and tan. The black is perfect for the dark interior and the tan is a little darker than my interior but is relatively invisible. I was concerned that my dog may be upset that he could no longer ride in the middle but I think he actually felt secure and because we got the hammock we no longer worry about injuries from him falling off the seat at times. I have two medium-to-large sized dogs who used to ride in the cargo area of my car, but when I switched vehicles I could no longer do that and need them to sit in the backseat, which means the backseat needed some kind of protection and I needed them to be somewhat confined and limit damage to the seat leather and the inside of the car doors. We have a similar product for my husband's truck, but this one is made better. I like the mesh opening at the front that allows for better ventilation; the fabric is not so slick that the dogs can't maintain their footing in it; the rings and clips by which the cover is held up on the sides are metal, not plastic, so won't break as easily as our other similar product. There is one downside to the metal, however; when disconnecting and unzipping the side flap so the dogs can get in and out, I have to be careful with the flap, or the metal rings will hit against the car paint. That's no bueno, but as long as one is mindful, it's not a problem. In an larger vehicle than mine (I have a Mazda 3), that's likely not even an issue, as the seat might be tall enough that the flap stays inside the car rather than coming a big outside the door when unzipped. Bought this and received days later (paid extra for expedited delivery). I was concerned with reviews I read elsewhere about adjusting and the front collapsing. No such issues. I had it out of the box, in the car, and our Pom in there in less than 5 minutes. Didn't have to adjust the lower belt at all. The top belt I adjusted to bring the seat down a little because it was too high. It's perfect. Lily loved it. Took her for a ride down the street without her harness. Now we'll get her in there with harness and hooked to the safety belt that came with this. This seat is safe, comfortable for her, inside can be removed to wash, easy to adjust, very sturdy, perfect depth for her to look out by either sitting or standing with her paws on the top edge. She loves it. Very good quality. Does not look or feel cheap. Money well spent.GaPom
First of all, I love the car seat. I have a 10lb shitzu mix who loves it too. I put it in my front seat and have also put it in my backseat. The removable liner is awesome. It took me a few minutes to learn how to remove the liner and put it back in, now it's done in less then 30 seconds. I've had this for about 2 years and I use it weekly. I do several road trips a month for work and my dog seems very comfortable. She can curl up and sleep very comfortably. The company is a bonus, I needed a replacement interior and it was sent immediately. Will definitely purchase more items from the Kurgo brand. Thank you!!Ariel

My little dogs like to ride together, so we got the medium Dog Car Seat and customized it with their name. They love it AND it looks good in my car. It’s comfortable, classy, well-made, easy to install and what really matters, is it’s safe! I’ve tried other car seats before and have always found them flimsy or difficult to install. But this one is built to last! I was advised by GW Little to purchase a containment strap made for the console car seat because the one that came with the small lookout booster seat was way too heavy. I did, for another $17. I wish it had been suggested when I originally ordered so that I wouldn't have had to pay for shipping. I haven't received it yet, so can't comment on how much lighter the clip is. I do think, however, that the containment strap that cam with the booster seat I ordered is also too short. My 5-poound dog must sit with her back against the back of the booster seat, with the strap extended to its maximum length. Both my dog and I love the booster seat, but the strap and clip have definitely been problematic.Sophie
I bought this for my 6lb chihuahua because I drive a lot to new York and Florida. Walter is very good in the car but after a while he wants to sit in my lap, and then when he's board he wants to look out the window. It's dangerous and distracting to me as well especially if I have to stop suddenly. This car seat fits very secure in my small sports car and he loves it! Once I put his favorite blanket in it he just cuddled up. It is also high enough for him to look out the window which he wry much enjoys and makes it a more easy going trip. I have been using these car seats for many years now, have even given them as gifts. Absolutely the best product out there. I currently have a 5 lb. Yorker who loves hanging out the window. The tether that came with the car seat broke when I was adjusting it after only one use. The seat itself kept shifting to the side, even though my dogs' combined weight was half of the published weight limit. Overall it was a disaster on every front. GW Little arranged for us to get a full refund–great customer service as always! We had to pay to ship it back to the manufacture, which was about 1/3 of the purchase price, but at least we got a refund. I have since learned that Snoozer seats fail crash tests and do not provide your dog with the security they would have you believe. Please go to the website for the Center for Pet Safety and watch these videos for yourself and learn of safer options for your beloved pet. I know that they all love to look out, but wouldn't you rather they stay alive in case of an accident? GWL: The tether strap should not have broke, especially from only making an adjustment. We'd love to know what broke on it. The seats need to be secured tightly by your car's seat belt, otherwise it could slide around. Snoozer seats never claim to be crash-proof. Harnesses are the safety devices, not seats. Using a Lookout car seat, and tethering your dog provides safety by keeping them restrained and not distracting the driver. They make no claims against protecting your dog in case of an accident. There's a big difference and still a great deal of research needs to be done on providing a safe environment for pets in case of a crash.Susan
I have been using the lookout car seat for years. I have purchased them AND recommended them to many friends with new and old dogs. This was a replacement for one of my older carseats whose side foams were starting to break down from taking the covers on and off over years and washing them. I like the improvement in the nicer fabrics that has a nice zipper bottom. Previous one has the basic elastic edges so it pulled alot at the sides when trying to get back on. Of I have had the medium seat I am replacing for probably 8 plus years. I like this microsuede OK but i think I prefer the upgraded fabric covers I purchased in last 2 years or so. I think they are a bit nicer which is why I gave it a 4 instead of a 5. Positively I had a friend who had a 10 year old poodle that HATED car rides. I loaned my small snoozer to her and her dog was a different animal. Keke loved it and my friend purchased one. Overall a very worthwhile product.Alexandra P

We purchased the Kurtz Wander Hammock for a road trip with our rescue pup. Overall quality is good (compared to a lot of products on the market), but overall design and engineering has some serious flaws! Whoever though of putting a zipper in the middle of the hammock that doesn’t lock and/or stay closed has never travelled with a pup! I have a labrador that enjoys car ride. I was looking for a replacement for the slinguard and thought to try something new. When the new kurgo hammock arrived, I was excited then it came crashing soon after I opened it. Its not sturdy and for the price I was expecting more. I think it will be suitable for smaller furbabies. I will still go back to slinguard (aussie owned) and the price isnt bad too for $170. The bright side, customer service is quite good. We just got back from a SF->Seattle round trip car drive for Thanksgiving and this product worked great for our Acura TSX wagon and 55# Standard Poodle. The dog refuses to stay in the "way back" of the wagon, so this provided her a place to chill out and watch out the window. It prevents her from falling into the footwells during a sudden stop, and still allows her to be close to us and stare out the window for the 36 hours of driving. I like that it has seatbelt access, as I was able to install a tether and harness to keep her safer in the event of an accident. One tip … install it in your car a few days before, and if you can leave your windows open in the garage, as the product does smell a bit when you first install it (kind of like new material and plastic). I used to drive with my yorkie on my lap which I know isn't safe and rather uncomfortable for me as well. I wish I had found this pet seat years ago, it's a game changer!! I was a little nervous after reading some of the reviews about the size but I bought the small and my 6.5 pound yorkie fits with plenty of room! I wasn't sure how he would be in it but he's super chill and looks very comfy! I also love that it's made in the US! The only thing I would say could stand some improvement is the clip on the leash…it's crazy hard to open(clip/unclip) and I struggle with it every time. My 14-pound Chiweenie loves his seat and the rack for food and snacks. The only thing that's problematic is my seatbelts don't "lock tight" unless you need to hit the brakes. The first time I realized he was out of his bed, I thought he had strangled himself because the strap should not have allowed him any leeway! Once I figure out how keep the seatbelts taught, it will be better. The height is perfect for Dublin to see out the windows and he sleeps like a baby the rest of the time. I use it in the middle seat in the middle row in my car because I don't want an airbag going off if he's up front and we were to be in an accident. For those who wonder, "Is the small big enough for my dog?" Dublin is a pretty long, short-legged Chihuahua-Dachshund, 14-15 pounds (depending on his snack intake, LOL ) and he has plenty of room. I would think this would work for any dog up to 18, or even 20 pounds. We traveled 900 miles over 3 days and he enjoyed every minute. We parked right in front of a restaurant we went to and he could see us through he window from his high seat and he was perfect.Anonymous
