Found Green Pet Shop looking through another pet site. I was searching for a cooling mat for our senior dog Xena. The cool pet pad has some great reviews so decided to order. The site is easy to understand and navigate, ordering was easy and we received the cool pet pad as expected. We ordered the medium size and it’s perfect for our 39 pound senior girl (pictures below to show size) We were pleasantly surprised when our senior pup took to the pad almost immediately. I bought two of these for my Rough Collie. He was about 70-75 pounds and very old. I needed something to keep him off the hard floor. He road 1500 miles in the back of my car on his bed and was super comfy the whole way! We had them in the bedroom and in the living room for him. He loved them a lot. My dog loves this mat – at first he was a bit stand-offish about it, but soon he went over and laid down on it and it was immediate acceptance. It is a bit slick to the touch, and I think that was what he didn't like at first. We spend a fair amount of time outside on the deck and in the back yard this time of year, and it gets hot out there. I put this pad under a table for some shade and the dog heads for it every time we go out there. I also tested it myself – it is cooling to the touch, and I put it in my living room chair to try out it's ability to deliver on it's claim of being a cooling pad. Normally after a couple of hours watching TV this chair gets very warm, but not this time. It stayed cool and so did I. This works – and your dog will thank you for it.CrashTester
The cooling mat is a good idea, but I think most dogs won't like that it is stiff plastic. I have a boarder collie who gets very hot and loves the coolness of the tile floor. However laying on the hard tile floor is very bad for her joints and makes her stiff. I thought she would definitely go right to the mat as it is cushiony and she seeks out cool places to lay. But she would NOT use it, no matter where I put it (any of her favorite cooler places). The mat is a great idea – it is cushiony and cool, but if your dog is at all finicky, it probably won't like the "plastic-ness" of it. I also noticed after my dog layed on it for a longer period of time it had actually become warm. If your dog would not mind the stiff plastic, it would be good for keeping your dog cooler for short periods of time.Cathy9
Last year I saw cooling pads for dogs on Groupon. The price was good. It matched this one! But, I doubted they really worked. I was wrong. They work great! My dog will often get up from where he is lying and go over to lie on his cooling mat, even in winter if the house is too hot for him! Sadly, the gel on those mats didn’t last long. I noticed mostly because my dog started scratching at the mat and moving it around trying to find the cool spot. With the gel gone, so was the nice cooling affect. So, I went looking for another one. When I came across this large mat on sale here on BB&B, I was already sold. The price is terrific, and, as a member, I got even more off. My dog is very happy to have his cool spot back. I bought several last year, and they are all gel free now, and needed replacing. I keep a pad on my bed for my dog, too. These are longer than the ones I got last year, and Not quite as wide. I have been trying to snag one of these since the temperatures started rising here in Miami. My pup likes what she likes and turns her nose at anything she doesn’t. She loves this mat!! She didn’t need to be trained to use it and happily rolls, rubs, scratches, and sleeps on this. I have put the cooling piece in the freezer but not too long. It stays cool even when not in the freezer. My dog is 18 lbs and long so she can stretch out. It’s flexible enough to fold in half for storing and travel. Def worth it!thatnadiagurl

I’m really disappointed because I’ve bought 3 of the large size cooling pads and they all end up leaking through the side seams. After reading the 1-Year Warranty, I see that I need to have receipt or still have the product in order to exercise warranty. I don’t save all of my receipts and I threw the pad out when it started leaking. So now that? Am I just s.o.l.? Beware of this product. We bought this product for our 3 month old sheepdog puppy. She loved the product, however, one very early morning, around 4am she was in her crate and starting whining. So I got up and took her outside to relief herself. She came back in and went into her crate. I didn't realize she was wet from the dew on the grass. In the morning around 8am when we took her out of her crate we discovered we had a "blue" dog. Her white legs, underbelly and chest were blue. Smurf blue! We tried bathing her and it didn't come out. I mixed up some peroxide with some shampoo as I am a hairdresser and tried applying that without gloves to make sure it wouldn't burn her. Even with that mixture very little blue come out, it had definitely stained her coat. We took her to the groomer they tried but ended up shaving down her legs and underbelly not to the skin but short. She is still a silver blue and we will have to wait for her coat to grow out a bit more and trim it again. It's NOT coming out… Do not purchase this product! I found an AKC cooling mat, its much nicer and its beige, so there shouldn't be any color issues.PuppyBlue
My husband & I were strolling through WalMart and he happened to see this mat on a shelf and pointed it out to me. We do not own dogs. However, I have issues with night sweats and have tried almost everything including adding a window ac unit to our bedroom. I thought, what the heck. the mat is inexpensive enough that if it doesn't work, I can donate it to a rescue group. It works very well. As a matter of fact, I slept with it, and didn't notice that it had quit cooling until almost 4:00 in the morning! I am usually in a constant state of movement trying to find the cool spot. I may go back for another one. Right this very instant, I am sitting on it in my office! It doesn't seem to be slick and although it is draped over the seat because it is too large, I do not have gel issues, yet. I have been sitting on it for 3.25 hours.
