Love the lavender color with the crate, the design and quality. I bought the treat spreads and the one I’ve tried, my dog loves it. He is conditioned now to hear when I open the freezer drawer. The only downside to giving this to him, is that it only lasts a couple of minutes (even when frozen), and it’s not quite long enough to calm him down in his crate. I have put different spreads in yogurt I have made popsicles and the product holds up. I still have a young puppy so I don’t know how this will hold up with a strong chewer. It does promote licking because that’s how your dog can reach his snack and it does calm them and it’s great that it goes in the crate but eventually when the spread or popsicle or whatever it is getting low a dog will chew because dogs are chewers. It’s not really that big of a deal you just have to supervise your pup and remove it. The really big issue with it is cleaning. I literally have to run boiling hot water over it and use a teeny little wire brush to get all the food off and then I run it through the dishwasher. That’s why it gets four stars.Angela K.

The medium size I got was a lot bigger than I thought which is a wonderful surprise. I’ve split it into 2 and the double doors make it possible. I am currently training my little pup to use the other side as a bathroom as he weathers his first Chicago winter. Love it! And the great thing is the large window on the side is able to be tucked in the top to keep one side always open. The other smaller door doesn’t tuck on the top but that doesn’t bother me because that door is against the wall and not an issue at all. Quality seems great. Have had it for a few weeks and I love it. And so does my lil 10lb pup in his medium crate (but it’s large for him!). I love Petco. So sorry I can’t give this kennel a 5 star rating. Love the style. Purchased “large” size for 40 pound female lab/hound mix, 17 months young; fit perfectly (even 75 pound male “cousin” slept curled up a couple of times, for novelty). She’s not perfectly kennel/crate trained. Visiting our daughter & didn’t want dog to run around unsupervised. 1st time used kennel successfully for a few hours. 2nd time unfortunately used a lot longer. She was observed on camera chewing/pulling on rear end and pushing way out of bottom (latched) small front door. She got minor abrasions on cheek and paw; was a TIGHT SQUEEZE out. MOST UNFORTUNATE! Ughhhh; other purchasers had reported wire weaknesses, but I truly wanted to believe that my dog wouldn’t be strong enough. I will talk to customer service now. We have a growing 7 month-old newfypoo so needed to upgrade our crate to a larger size. I chose this crate for 2 specific reasons: #1, the height and #2, the top-folding door on the side of the crate. My newfypoo needed the additional height so he isn't hunched over if he's sitting up. The height on this size has given him an inch or two of extra clearance and should still work when he's done growing. For the 2nd point, I LOVE the top-folding side door. Because of where we keep the crate, we only use the side door and it has been awesome not having to walk around a door that opens to the side and is in the way of the main flow of traffic. Even though the crate is noticeably bigger than our old one, it feels like it takes up the same amount of space because of that door. I can't speak highly enough of it. For more practical items, the crate is very sturdy and well made. There were no problems with shipping and other than needing a little muscle, the crate went together very easily. My newfypoo isn't one that will try to escape from a crate, so I can't speak to that, but I have been very impressed with the quality of this crate and how easy it was to get my big-little puppy used to it. I have not left her alone in this for long periods of time as a crate when I go out (still use a metal crate for that) as I don't know if she would try to chew on it being a soft crate and she's a puppy. Purchased this under the Doskocil name for a 1 year old Husky rescue. He had no problem bending the bars and/or braking the "welds". Properly done welds cannot be broken, so I assume that they are only brazed / tacked together. DO NOT purchase this product if you have a breed (ie Husky / Malamute) that are prone to attempt escape. The crate had obviously been used and returned. The metal was rusted in places and the plastic bottom tray was dirty. When I decided to return it, It was a challenge to get it back in the box. When I took it back to the store, I asked about a discount and received 15% off (the tax). I had previously bought one that was marked down by 50% because the box was damaged. I've owned dogs for the last 40 years. I've used MidWest wire crates for my last 4 dogs. This iCrate didn't disappoint. It's sturdy and and easy to put up and take down. I use them when I travel with my dogs too. My dogs only use their crates for sleeping in at night or napping in during the day. During the day, their crate doors are left open. I close the dogs in at night. I don't have an issue with my dogs trying to escape from their crates, so I can't speak to whether or not this would be sturdy enough for a dog that's determined to get out of their crate. These crates are more than sturdy enough for my miniature Schnauzer, Havanese, and Wirehaired Pointing Griffon. All three of my dogs love their MidWest iCrates, as did my previous dog! They go in them voluntarily and when told to "crate up". My only concern with the current crate I ordered is that that one of the latches isn't lined up quite right so it's a bit tight when closing the crate door. We bought this in April 2022 for our Rhodesian Ridgeback mix puppy. He was weeks old when we rescued him. He was a Parvo pup and barely survived, so rest and his own quiet space was highly recommended for recovery. We first used the divider which was great. However, as he grew, so did his strength. It definitely is not strong enough for large dogs. Even for short amounts of time. At the moment he is 6 months and 60 pounds. Thankfully he did not get out nor hurt himself! Adopted a black mouth cur from the shelter. Escape artist, separation anxiety to the maximum. First time I put the shirt on her, I left her in the car while I ran into the store (no, it wasn't hot out! and I wasn't long. but I'd be wondering the same, reading the above!) I tried to get my dog accustomed to it before putting it on her as the instructions stated but she ran away every time even when it was paired with treats and I was just holding it up. Despite this, I put the ThunderShirt on her the night of the 4th of July fireworks. I also added the calming spray to the area on the shirt as indicated. She was very anxious the whole night. However, the next night I put the shirt on her again and she calmed down quickly despite neighbors setting off fireworks. This was repeated the next night as well. We have not needed to use it since then but will use it when thunderstorms are predicted and when she needs to go in the car to see if that will help with her car sickness. I recently adopted 2 retired greyhounds and noticed my female would hide and pant before and during rainstorms. I bought these just a few weeks before July 4th since the firecrackers were already starting to explode in our neighborhood and my male grey refused to walk after hearing pops and getting spooked. I got 2 in XL: one in Camo with orange stripes and the sport in platinum which has a quilted weave and feels thicker so I could see if they had any preference since they both fit on either dog (they like them both). Just followed the directions for wrapping the shirts and it seemed to instantly calm my girl down to the point where she doesn’t want to take it off though eventually she lets me. I’m not sure it helps my male so much since it’s gotten so hot out that I won’t add an extra layer on them in this heat and cause them to have heat stroke but I put it on them during stormy weather and they both really like wearing the shirts which surprised me so I think he likes it too. Ive had this crate for my dog for over a year. Its easy to set up and tear down and light enough for a woman to carry. These soft crates are for crate trained dogs. If you didnt use a crate when training your puppy it will not work for your dog. I have a 56 lb. Goldendoodle. She has plenty of room in the 42 crate and is very comfortable in it. This thing is huge! And I love the fact that it comes with a divider so it can be adjusted for our puppy. We ha e a great pyrenees and she is growing like a weed! Being able to change the size is a life saver rather than having to buy a different one every few months for her! Super sturdy as well! As soon as we set it up, she got right on in and played down!
This wire isn’t as sturdy as other brands and the latches aren’t as secure. Thankfully my dog doesn’t try to get out of it. The tray cracked in two places just from his weight after one day, he’s 75 lbs. I had to go out to get a replacement tray, but haven’t had any issues since.Becca511

This kennel looks great in your home. It’s much more decorative than a traditional crate. And for the price of why not? Well that’s easy. It’s not as functional as a traditional kennel. I read reviews before buying this, and a lot of those reviews stated that their dogs tore this kennel apart. But I thought my dog shouldn’t have a problem with that because she is crate trained. As a matter of fact she went into her old kennel willingly without anyone asking all of the time. It was her safe space I think. Never tried to break out. But the thing with this kennel is the material that it is made out of is weak and if you’re a pitbull, very soft. My dog chewed the bars out with ease and the fake wood was like bubblegum to her. I was very curious when I got this for my pup because this is a unique type of dog treat that is great for dental health as well as allergies and the best part, all natural. I have never tried this brand before with Rosie but after reading more about the brand I love that all of Zesty Paws products contain only natural ingredients, and nothing artificial about it. My dog is a small beagle mixed breed but the bag says these are safe for small, medium and large breeds. This is a 25oz bag but it can be purchased in different sizes. These dental sticks will support the immune system, while relieving any seasonal allergies and also improving dental health. I was curious also about the special formula which contains EpiCor. This is antioxidants, fiber, protein, and vitamins. There is a hemp protein which provides omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids also supporting the immune system and helping to relieve any itchy or hot spot which I found fascinating because this is a supplement and medicine-free. With every treat, it helps to clear plaque and tartar from teeth as she chews, and has peppermint oil to eliminate bad breath. We mainly use the product for calming purposes for our three dogs. We have a 3y8m old 67 pound German Wirehaired Pointer, a 3y5m old 55 pound Small Standard Goldendoodle, and a 1y3m old 16.5 pound Havapoo. The dental cleaning aspect is an added bonus. We don't give daily. We give two to the bigger dogs, and one to the smaller one, and they seem to calm the house just enough. These aren't a magic fix-all, but, for us, it helps our pups relax enough when they are worked up over something. They also smell nice compared to other dental treats out there. What we don't like is that they are too easy for my bigger dogs to eat. So if you are getting them to help with teeth cleaning, your dog might eat them too quickly and not benefit from chewing on it.
My dogs love them! I have 2 large dogs (155 lbs & 130 lbs) so I wish the sticks were bigger, but they just love them as a tasty, little snack. If I give them more than one treat, they always choose the calming dog chews first. I think it's even helped with their doggie breath too. I'm sure it helps with calming, but since I just give them one and because of their size, I'm sure they would need more for it to be really effective. So it's hard to say definitely if it's helped my pups with that, but I feel based on the ingredients that it should/does.Kristine P

I had a perfectly pleasant experience with this company, but the product itself has only caused my puppy to act out. I'm not sure why, especially after reading so many positive reviews, but these "calming bites" trigger the opposite behavior in my dog. He has far more energy and it's all destructive/aggressive. Every time I've given him a full tablet, he has stayed up later than usual wanted to play (think midnight instead of 9 PM). So these bites aren't for us. These calming pills are great. We use them for our 60# pit bull who is afraid of fireworks and thunderstorms. If it's around a holiday or we see a storm coming in, we give 2 beforehand and it takes the edge off of her fear. She is still scared and will hide and shake a little but it is much less stressful then it would be without the pills. We will follow up with 2 more later that night if the storms go longer or the fireworks might continue. We also use it for some of our foster dogs- over excitement in the car, before a vet visit or any other really stressful event. Takes the edge off so the dog isn't bouncing off the walls or throwing up in the car and helps us and the dog enjoy the experience more. Compared with lots of other brands and this is the best deal around and actually works.
I have a Huskie/German shepherd female dog . About 5 months old, 60 lbs. My fur baby is extremely hyperactive . From the time her feet touch the floor she is a go getter . I turned to this product for my cat after everything else failed. She has a chronic sinus infection that did not respond to multiple rounds of two different antibiotics. I bought this item knowing that it was not going to be as sturdy as some of the other options. The price reflects the quality of the material and that must be considered for the review. I do not have an issue with my dog chewing on the crate, trying to escape, or anything of that manner, so to spend double this price for a higher quality one couldn't be justified in my mind. I simply needed a larger crate for him to sleep in at night so he doesn't jump on me while I am in bed. I bought this knowing that it would only be used for 7-8 months (while I am pregnant) and that it would be rarely used after that time frame. The order came in a reason time frame. It was simple to put together. I do suggest using a blanket or something on the bottom to avoid excess noise due to claws. It serves it's purpose and was easy on my wallet. It does have a divider for multiple dogs, but we do not need that. Both doors (front and side) work correctly. I would suggest this to anyone looking for a standard, budget friendly cage. We bought the 36 inch long one and it works well for our black lab. He has enough room to stand up, walk in a circle to re-position himself, and can stretch his legs out while laying sideways.JackieR
The metal is well constructed and the two doors are really convenient. The plastic carrying handle is frail and I don't think would last long under a heavy load. The plastic tray seems a little too thin but adequate. Supplied are rubber feet in the form of rubber tubing cut to about 1.5 inches long and split lenghtwise and are simply placed at the corners over the wire on the bottom of the cage. As I was assembling them on my carpet, they kept sliding off so they would not stay long under real conditions. I simply wrapped them in electrical tape and they now stay on.Mike
I received the kennel and took it out to place it in my car. Much to my dismay after going through all that trouble, I noticed this had to have been a return which was not inspected. The bottom front, outer leg had ben bent significantly with a pliers or such, you could see the teeth marks and the vinyl coating was off. Needless to say, the other side was pulled out of alignment and the floor tray was broken. Not a happy camper! Returned it to Walmart and to my dismay once again, they did not carry this particular cage in the store!! The ones they carried in store were twice the price!! I purchased two of these "KennelMaster 24" Folding Black Wire 2 Door Dog Crate" and have had them for several months. What a great buy! Super easy to set up: they come preassembled and all folded up. They unfold and set up in a minute. I have one for each of my dogs: a Maltese/Bichon mix and a Chihuahua mix (who looks just like a small German Shepherd). We use their crates for the night time and when we leave the house. These crates are made of very nice thick metal. Incredibly sturdy. The latches are well made and smart-doggy proof. I like that the bottom is solid and can be easily removed and sanitized. My dogs have scratched and nibbled on the bars daily and the crates have held up like new. There are two doors on each crate: one door on a long side and one door on a short side. There's also a handle on top which makes it really easy to move around when I am relocating it, transporting the dogs, or just moving the crates to vacuum and clean underneath. My crates also came with some additional wire dividers that I don't use. I believe they are for making the crate smaller when you have a puppy and removing it as your dog grows. Crates can be really expensive so I was glad to find these at such a bargain price, especially because they are so well made. I know these crates will last many, many years. I have no negative things to say about these dog crates. I would highly recommend them! Please note: I do not put both dogs in the same crate, though they do both fit. I got this product for my little shorkie who hates the car. She's only 2 months old and we're trying to get her used to go in places. But she shakes, pants, wines and won't be still. I gave her the recommended amount of drops about 10 minutes before we left the house. We drove over 45 minutes away and we were at my brother's for about 3 hours and we came home. And to my surprise my Princess Snow survived the trip that took even longer than usual due to heavy traffic. She started with a small amount of foaming when we arrived but she didn’t vomit. There are so many awful crates/kennels out there! From the craptastically-made ones that double as end tables to the ugly, wiry kind… This Richell kennel is most excellent. The 4 wheels make it easy to move from room to room (and you can lock the wheels, too), assembly is easy, and the top opening is the best feature of all that I never thought about needing. This is a very solid, thoughtfully-designed, carefully manufactured crate for small and medium dogs–though I can't speak to how it would hold up to an obsessive chewer. Also great is that if you change your mind, just return it to your local Petco 🙂MCSZ
Beautiful and a roomy size for small or medium sized dogs. I've only had it for a while, but so far, very sturdy too. The tabs inside are great for pressing the edges of potty pads to keep them from scrunching up. The wheels are convenient, but unfortunately you can't lock all 4 and it slides on hard surfaces. The open doors are great also. I wish it had a slide out tray like the large black wire cages. It is hard to get yourself down and inside to wipe the floor of the kennel clean. This crate is great! I have a recent rescue that is not fully housebroken. I needed a crate that I could keep in my living area that looked good and didn't take up a lot of space to use when I leave the house for more than an hour! He loves it. I did some research on the Variocage dog crate. I recall they crash tested it for all 3 types of crashes. It showed several of the straps breaking, and I thought that was a bad sign. But according to info from a video posted below, the straps are only designed to keep the crate oriented in the rear of your car prior to the collision, after that the straps can break, but the crate is designed to protect effectively. The angled part of the crate abutting the rear seat disperses the force of a rear end collision over the largest surface as opposed to a square regular crate which contacts the rear seat at the point of its corner. The corners of the crate where the dog doors are (I bought a 2 dog medium crate) are blunted- that is to conform to the crumple zone of the back of your car in case of rollover- thus creating its own crumple zone. Lastly the telescoping bars allow force to be absorbed, but still protect your dog inside. The Swedish designers have outdone themselves, The cost is around $1,100 but you get what you invest in. If your goal is to get one of the safest crates for your dog, Variocrate ranks among the top 3 in my research. I picked it over the other choices because it fit into the rear of my vehicle the best. I had very good assistance before purchasing regarding size — of my dogs and of my car–and ended up with a Large Double for two English Labradors. It's a good size for them and fits just perfectly in my Subaru Outback. I found the assembly not too difficult (the video on the website helps to supplement the paper instruction sheet). The dogs have plenty of room but the space is smaller than what they are used to, so I left it set up in the house for several days so they could practice going in and out. They both seem very comfortable riding in it, and I LOVE having them safely contained — especially when they are wet (and/or muddy) from swimming. I also like that it doesn't hinder visibility for driving very much – something I was worried about when I started looking at some other crates.Robin R.
I like the Variocage products. I have the Variogate and divider In our other car. However, positioning some components to get proper bolt alignments was very challenging on this assembly. One side flange of the rear lower panel was so far out of alignment that it had to be bent to fit. Other components required clamps to achieve alignment for bolts. If I had time to wait for replacement parts, I know that they would have been gladly provided. Since I was so far along with assembly, I decided to soldier on. Once assembled, it is a very nice crate, however.Scott H.
