The crate had obviously been used and returned. The metal was rusted in places and the plastic bottom tray was dirty. When I decided to return it, It was a challenge to get it back in the box. When I took it back to the store, I asked about a discount and received 15% off (the tax). I had previously bought one that was marked down by 50% because the box was damaged. I was quite disappointed in the whole experience. Apparently the merchandise was supposed to be checked if the box was damaged and that wasn’t done in this case.Janice

I've owned dogs for the last 40 years. I've used MidWest wire crates for my last 4 dogs. This iCrate didn't disappoint. It's sturdy and and easy to put up and take down. I use them when I travel with my dogs too. My dogs only use their crates for sleeping in at night or napping in during the day. During the day, their crate doors are left open. I close the dogs in at night. I don't have an issue with my dogs trying to escape from their crates, so I can't speak to whether or not this would be sturdy enough for a dog that's determined to get out of their crate. These crates are more than sturdy enough for my miniature Schnauzer, Havanese, and Wirehaired Pointing Griffon. All three of my dogs love their MidWest iCrates, as did my previous dog! They go in them voluntarily and when told to "crate up". My only concern with the current crate I ordered is that that one of the latches isn't lined up quite right so it's a bit tight when closing the crate door. I bent it slightly and it works much better. I haven't had that issue with any of the previous MidWest crates I've used. I'm a MidWest crate fan.Eddie09

We bought this in April 2022 for our Rhodesian Ridgeback mix puppy. He was weeks old when we rescued him. He was a Parvo pup and barely survived, so rest and his own quiet space was highly recommended for recovery. We first used the divider which was great. However, as he grew, so did his strength. It definitely is not strong enough for large dogs. Even for short amounts of time. At the moment he is 6 months and 60 pounds. Thankfully he did not get out nor hurt himself! I wish I could share photos of how bent up this crate is and the cracked floor liner. IWifeMomLove

This kennel looks great in your home. It’s much more decorative than a traditional crate. And for the price of why not? Well that’s easy. It’s not as functional as a traditional kennel. I read reviews before buying this, and a lot of those reviews stated that their dogs tore this kennel apart. But I thought my dog shouldn’t have a problem with that because she is crate trained. As a matter of fact she went into her old kennel willingly without anyone asking all of the time. It was her safe space I think. Never tried to break out. But the thing with this kennel is the material that it is made out of is weak and if you’re a pitbull, very soft. My dog chewed the bars out with ease and the fake wood was like bubblegum to her. I love this kennel because of the way it looks in my room but for how strong it is NOT, it is incredibly over priced.BrianaL02

This kennel will work for now but I fear over time that the weight of a dog laying against the side of it will make it fall apart. Easy to put together…the screws are literally plastic. When I searched for “wooden dog crate” this came up and I purchased it but it’s not wood lol.PorshaPants

I believe this is the best crate out there. It is flat on the bottom, not hurting your dog, it comes with a bed liner, it has plenty of doors to open for options, and the best is that it folds up and rolls away when you need it. Actually the best part is that it opens like a garage door on one of the bigger sides… leaving a very easy to use and comfortable access for your dog. My pup loved it from the get go… didn't even have to train him to use it, he automatically went into it since it has a huge opening. It is the best alternative. RILoveSunny

I purchased the crate to train my mini Aussie pup and to have as a quiet place to retreat and sleep. She loves it!! It was simple to setup and easy to fold down for travel. I really like having wheels to move it to clean my floor, rolls easily. Seems to be solid and sturdy. The latches to lock the doors, slide and lock which is nice. Overall I am very satisfied with this purchase. Would recommend for training new puppies.DixieRose

We are happy with most of the construction and design of the crate, however they could easily improve it and make it 5-star worthy. The fold out sides do not have adequate support so unlike the photos, the zipper section of each side hangs down minimizing the interior space. There are 2 support rods (one for the front and back edges) of the fold outs that are a bit ill-fitting; if a 3rd support was added to run behind the zipper and help support the mesh material I would love the crate.lisa

Easy to assemble and take down. Love the expandable sides and zippers to service the sides. Fits well (with sides folded in) in the back seat of our car, with just a piece of plywood on the seat for floor stabilization. Good air circulation. We were able to take it into our friends garage, open it full out, and it served a safe little house for our cat. All in all, it is very convenient.anniesuncat

Not bad except for the quality of the zippers. They do not pull smoothly and can easily separate. Also, the padding is thin, polyethylene foam used more for packing. I loved how easy it was to breakdown for travel purposes. I have used mine for only a month and need to replace it.Msc

I love the small "escape proof" crate! Its a gem! The price is great especially with free shipping! my chihuahua figured out how to escape from her other crate and caused a huge ruckus in the apt complex. I cant say just how much this crate means alot to me and the neighbors (elderly). My longhair, chihuahua absolutly LOVES it!! Thank you even more for a quick delivery from Fed Ex. If you are needing to purchase a new dog crate, this is the brand and model I highly recommend. Midwest had several levels of crates but I have found that you cannot go wrong purchasing the Lifestage's model. They are solidly made and last forever. I always purchase the double door crates. They have cheaper models & more expensive ones too. I would not recommend their icrate as they are cheaper but they are also not had solidly made as the Lifestage's. Spend the extra $10-$15 and purchase the Life Stages model. It is well worth the money. I have had great success purchasing there crates at Petco.com. I always receive my items within a couple of days. It is also nice when you have a Petco store nearby where you live. If you have any issues with the merchandise you received, they have always been very accommodating and made sure they did whatever was necessary to correct the problem, return the merchandise at a full refund and/or replaced the item. I have been very happy with Petco and the merchandise I have purchased!!!Shari L

I just received this crate a couple of days ago for my Saint Bernard mix pup. The size is perfect and he has tons of room to grow in it. The doors latch nicely and the crate is very sturdy. We received this very fast! The only downfall I had with this purchase was that when we removed it from the box and set it up, there was a decent sized crack (all the way through) on the tray. I won't be replacing the tray as I've spent enough on this crate. And fortunately for me, my 5 month old pup doesn't have accidents in his crate, but I'm sure if others received this, they would not be happy.tsjackie

I had been looking at the end table style crates thinking that would look nicer and less bulky then the 4' x 4' X-pen I have in my living room. But, comfort is the main criteria and I wanted my Whippets to feel they could stand and dig through a deep pile of bedding, so I went with this crate. I like to rearrange the furniture so I bought the double door style to keep my options open. For my two Whippets I bought the 42" x 28" size which has been more then enough room for them to lay side by side or end to end. It arrives flat, but you just fold out the sides and it is ready to go. It came with a handle so it could be 'portable', but at this size it is heavy and I don't plan to take it anywhere, so I didn't attach that. I left the X-Pen up for them while they made the transition, but they hopped into the new crate the minute I put it up and haven't been back in the X-Pen (even though it still has more bedding in it). The black wire instantly looked better then the metal of the X-Pen and I'm staining a piece of wood I put trim molding around for the top (I had it cut to size at Home Depot) so I'll have an end table style look, but the height and comfort the pups want for their 'cave.' Very happy and buying a second one to have at the office for the days they come to work with me. Both crates and the wood top are costing less then the end table style crate, so all three of us are happy!psh1

We bought this cage just to give our little guy a slightly bigger bed, now that he is full grown. This is actually just a bed with a door, because he loves being in it, and goes in on his own, just to nap, with the door open. We have the black crate cover also, which I highly recommend buying. As far as durability goes, or security for that matter, I've seen better. If you have a large or rambunctious dog, I would think twice. Also consider the fact that there is only one door latch on each door. But that's what you get for the price.Sherry

This product has room enough to grow as your puppy grows. The divider provided with the crate is easy to use. The crate is great to set up and is easily folded down to move it take with you. The tray in the bottom is very durable and cleaning is a breeze. This product is everything it says it is and I recommend it to anyone. This is my first time with an extra large breed dog and it has made things easier for me and I am confident when I need to put my pup in it to go to work. I know he will be fine and comfortable.Char

We decided we needed an extra crate for up at the cabin….since it was "last minute" I ran to my local national chain pet store and they had one brand of folding crates like this one…..their pricing was ridiculous…..the size I needed was 3X what Dog.com was charging, even with shipping. No brainer, we ordered this one & it came standard shipping super fast & over Memorial weekend (like 2-3 days-we were still at the cabin!) and it's exactly like our other crate we bought from this site 4 years ago. Great quality….very sturdy and easy to fold & set back up. Also comes with a divider if you have a puppy or want to have two small dogs share the crate. Good quality heavy duty cage for my Doberman puppy. The chewed the wires off the regular cage. Only concern is the tray goes under the metal grate at the bottom of the cage. Not good at all. He got his foot pad/toe caught in it. Also his collar caught in it. I forced the tray to go into the cage on top of the grate. Problem solved. Need to have an option of where to put it. Would recommend with supervision of your dog. No collars on when grate is not covered. Good tough cage. Neighbor bought same fir her bull dog puppy same age as my dobie. She likes it also. *The price was very reasonable and the size/construction was surprisingly sturdy. *As an added bonus, our cage has a side door that wasn't advertised. We almost didn't purchase this one since it appeared to only have the one door at the end. But our cage has a second door that swings out from the side panel. *We have always taken small (4" size) zip ties and secured the corners of our cages to provide added strength – in case dogs paw at the cage. I would still recommend zip ties although the cage seems to snap in place tightly. Of course, if you frequently fold down the cage, replacing zip ties can become cumbersome. *The plastic pan on the bottom is thinner than our last cage, but our dogs have not chewed or scratched at them previously, so this won't be a problem for us. *The carrying handle appears strong enough to lift the empty cage and will be useful. *Upper and lower slide latches are provided on each door. All latches have a rod bent at the end to help secure the latch. In the past, our dogs learned to shake the door until the latch slid over but this new design prevents the latch from sliding open.KYMom

I bought one of these and liked it so much that I just purchased another one. Both are the 42 inch size.I have 2 older 42 inch similar type kennels but they are a different brand and I paid a lot more for them. I think that the BestPet brand wire pet cage/crate/kennels are just as good as the more expensive ones that I have. In fact I was able to purchase two of the BestPet kennels for what I paid for one of the older kennels I have. I like the latches on the Best Pet kennels. They have a little "crook" on the end that prevents the latch from sliding open accidently. But it is easy for a human to open and close. I am an older woman and the kennels are easy for me to move around to the areas I desire to put them. They are sturdy, but easy to handle,and have the plastic slide out tray at the bottom for easy cleaning, I was unsure about this Brand at first because the price was so GOOD that I figured something had to be flawed with this kennel but I was very wrong. I do think it is a good idea to buy a couple of extra plastic trays or if you are crafty cut a piece of heavy duty plastic to have on hand when you change out a tray for cleaning. Plastic is just plastic so a heavy dog could cause damage to the tray .But the trays I got with my kennels are not flimsy at all. The kennel comes with a plastic handle that can be attached at the top. I live in a rural and at night the coyotes and other undesirable critters come out and I have had problems with Tom cats just mauling my young cats. So now I can put my kittens or young cats and puppies in kennels at night and I don't have to worry and fret about what is happening in the dark to them. Also, this will save me money in Vet bills. The cost of just one of the large kennels is about the cost of an office visit to the vet so I am very pleased to wake up each day and know that all of my "babies" are safe and happy. Included with the kennel is a wire divider that can be put in the kennel so you can keep pets separated from each other. I had one particular cat that had an injury that seemed to outsmart me and escape from any cage I tried to keep her in. She can't get out of this Best Pet kennel. I will buy a couple more of the 42 inch size kennels to have on hand because the price and quality is so great and I plan to buy a couple of the smaller wire ones to transport cats and pups to the vet in. I find the plastic cat carriers to be attractive but not so practical when you have a heavy cat or a "wild" cat or unhappy dog that needs an injection from the vet before it can be removed from the carrier to be tended to. I’m giving this 2 stars because the packaging SUCKED big time. The instructions was not in the box so I had to look on YouTube to figure out how to open the cage and then after I received my answer the instructions was in the tray which is at the bottom covered by paper. It was the dumbest thing ever because you cannot access the instructions until you put the cage together which hello defeats the purpose. Horrible!!!! Hopefully this cage is durable because one of the entry handles doesn’t seem secure when locked.Colneshia

This crate was perfect for my dog when he was a puppy. It had 2 doors to make finding a space for it easy and convenient. It also folds up so it can be easily tucked away when not in use. He slept in this every night and would lay in his crate when I left the house until he was potty trained and could be trusted alone for longer periods of time.jennifer.n

I purchased two of these "KennelMaster 24" Folding Black Wire 2 Door Dog Crate" and have had them for several months. What a great buy! Super easy to set up: they come preassembled and all folded up. They unfold and set up in a minute. I have one for each of my dogs: a Maltese/Bichon mix and a Chihuahua mix (who looks just like a small German Shepherd). We use their crates for the night time and when we leave the house. These crates are made of very nice thick metal. Incredibly sturdy. The latches are well made and smart-doggy proof. I like that the bottom is solid and can be easily removed and sanitized. My dogs have scratched and nibbled on the bars daily and the crates have held up like new. There are two doors on each crate: one door on a long side and one door on a short side. There's also a handle on top which makes it really easy to move around when I am relocating it, transporting the dogs, or just moving the crates to vacuum and clean underneath. My crates also came with some additional wire dividers that I don't use. I believe they are for making the crate smaller when you have a puppy and removing it as your dog grows. Crates can be really expensive so I was glad to find these at such a bargain price, especially because they are so well made. I know these crates will last many, many years. I have no negative things to say about these dog crates. I would highly recommend them! Please note: I do not put both dogs in the same crate, though they do both fit. I was skeptical tht it would be what I wanted but OMG. I was so excited when I saw the size of it and not only does our biggest dog fit comfortably, but all 3 fit into this spacious kennel. This item did not disappoint and in fact, exceeded my expectations. The demensions are perfect for where we keep it and the side door is super convenient. I got it on sale for half price and honestly, I regret not buying one sooner, sale or not. It is fully worth it to not see a big dog sitting halfway up and hunched over cuz he is too tall. His smile is huge cuz he is a GSD that needs the space. The advertisement pic with the Golden Retriever for a size comparison seemed fake to me but there is no exaggeration on the size. It's fine as long as you keep the door closed. The one thing I really dislike is the door doesn't swing open all the way so, unless it is closed, it sticks out into the room for us to trip over. It should open 180 degrees so it sits flush with the side of the crate. This was true of our last crate, which also made it very simple and quick to remove and re-attach the door if we wanted it off completely. This crate does neither so we live with it sticking out into our walkway, constantly in the way and, when we bump it, swinging closed so our dog cannot cannot get into her crate. She used to enjoy her crate during the day as well as sleeping in it at night. It's her safe space. So, we want her to have 'in and out' privileges all day but this door makes it tough. Frustrating.HCHM

Had to adjust(bend) the bottom catch so wall would not give my dog the opportunity to find a point of egress. He does not care for it. Hoping he will adjust to it. Usual trading methods not working. Since he was mistreated, I assume a cage was used as a means of punishment. Please don't do that to your dog. If you feel he needs punishment, it's most likely your fault and you shouldn't have a dog. They live to please you but need to know what you want through positive reinforcement!Judy Trudy

Wondering if we were sold a used unit. Missing 3 of the 4 rubber feet the one was already attached. Video shows they shoukd be in a bag and how to install. All 4 corner top supports were there 2 were in plastic bag that was ripped open previously and other 2 were in bottom of crate. Looks like part of the paint was worn off on the corners were the supports go. One of the sliding doors squeals as you slide it closed. Couldn't return it as we sold our previous crate already. Tried to call the manufacturer as it states do not call store have not heard back after 5 messages to them.Brad63126

The packaging of this item was very good. There is a plastic tray in the bottom of the cage, but it is well protected in the box. I took out the crate and it was all one piece, except for the divider. I laid it on the floor and unlatched the obvious clips that were holding the crate in a flat position. There are instructions that come with this crate, but it was so easy to figure out how to fasten the sides, I did not need them. I did review the instructions after and they are very easy to follow and understand. The crate wiring is very sturdy. I have a 45 lb Springer Spaniel and he has no chance of bending the wiring. The latches will not shake open. They fold over and my dog would have to be a magician to open them. There are two entry points. On large area on the lengthy side. And a slider set of doors on the wide side. Both sides have the same type of latches. The tray is very sturdy plastic and can be cleaned very easily. The crate comes with a divider. It is made of the same wiring material. Very sturdy. I only have one dog, so I won't be using it. But it is easy to install. The weight of the crate is not too bad. It comes with a handle on top, but the width of the crate is a bit large to be carrying around far. It is mainly used for repositioning. You won't pick up the crate with your pet inside. But it makes it easy for lifting into my van without my dog inside. I cannot think of any really bad things about this crate. It is a very quality item. Very easy to use. Very easy to fold and stow away when not in use. All in one piece. To get my dog used to using it, I put some treats in the crate. He went right in and was checking it out. Springers love to be in a cave, so I put a blanket over the top and he enjoys his privacy 🙂Charlie

I really like my Lucky Dog Sliding Door Dog Crate. I am disabled so I thought I would have to have someone help me assemble it. But the hardest thing about putting it together was getting it out of the box. Once it was out, it literally took me less than a minute and that was without instructions. It was so easy to see what needed to be done: lift one wall, lift the ceiling and the other wall falls into place. One end has a door with three lift and slide type handles. You can use one, two, or all three. And the front has the sliding door which is nice for a larger animal or for putting the bed in, etc. There is a heavy duty plastic bottom so you don’t have to worry about puppy accidents. There are also plastic sleeves to go on four corners on the bottom to keep it from being fully in contact with the floor, so there’s air flow underneath. This would also protect the floor in the case of the crate moving during use. They also included four corner protectors so that you don’t bang into a sharp edge and injure yourself or damage something. Good thinking. And a really nice feature is the wire wall that locks into place if desired, making the crate a haven for 2 animals or a smaller space for a smaller dog- for instance a puppy that would be overwhelmed by such a large crate now but would need every inch of it later. No need to buy 2 crates- just insert the divider wall now and remove it when the dog has grown enough to use the space. And if I don’t need to use the crate or I need to store it, it folds flat just as it came. Brilliant! I’m sold on this crate! Only downfall is my dog is exposed to whatever is going on around him so I would have preferred to have had this to begin with. This is a nice looking crate and it is substantial. It is also easy to move around. The main problem with it is that the clips to open and close the doors are annoyingly difficult. Also the side garage style door is difficult to operate as well. Sometimes I just leave the top open and take my little schnauzer out the top – it's easier.Joyce

Well this item is not easy to assemble, I hope that once I get it together it feels stronger than it looks. I purchased this for two small chihuahuas when going to the vet or the groomer. This item do not come with good instructions, if I can not get it together in the next day or so I will return it.field mouse

This product is a good product that can use some minor adjustments. I was surprised at how thin the pillow is. The crate has a hard bottom so the pillow should have a little thickness to it, but it does not. lf l had to guess, the pillow might be only milimeters thin. Another adjustment should be the ease of closing the side door and the sturdiness of the product when it's assembled. The side door sticks on one side of mine and the crate feels like it could collapse at times, although it never has. 0verall the product is good though and l still recommend it for its versatility.Heidi
