This toy is used indoor. The ball part of it is larger than I expected but my dog had no trouble grabbing it in her mouth. She started carrying it around by the cape and i would roll it around and she would chase it. It is a fairly heavy toy. Unfortunately as with most toys, after a few weeks she found a little extra room in the fabric around the ball and started picking at it. She will pick it until she gets a hole in it. This toy was very different. Out of the box, we could tell it was extremely strong. It claims to have a squeaker in the middle for strong enough jaws, but my husband and I couldn’t test it because it’s so strong. I’m happy to take their word for it. One of our bigger dogs had it for 5 minutes with no signs of destruction. Got this toy on a whim from the store and my guy (40lb all-around-mutt) loves it! I filled it with dry treats that are a good size that wouldn't fall right out and he had the BEST time trying to work it out. He shook, tossed, chewed, and flung this toy all around the living room and it kept him busy for at least 20 minutes. Not the longest compared to others I'm sure, but a world record in this house! My dog loves puzzle toys and loves to work for it, so your dog will have to be like that as well. Let me start off by saying my partner and I LOVE West Paw! Great company with a great mission and amazing sustainability practices. We love the Toppl and wanted to love the Rumbl, but unfortunately on the very first use(we purchased size small), it got stuck on the bottom jaw of our 16 pound King Charles Cavalier. If you have a small to medium size dog with a small, narrow jaw, then I would not recommend this toy. The tabs in the top of the mouth got stuck to his little teeth and hurt him a bit to get off. We will unfortunately be returning this one and opting for another puzzle toy for feeding. Luckily, West Paw has a great guarantee policy so we will continue to be customers for life! I love all the nylabone products and hate, I know it's kind of a harsh word but it's the only one that fits my feeling, rawhide anythings. I had a husky/lab mix several years ago. She was about 10 years old at the time. She was chewing on a large rawhide bone in my mom's room and I was next door in my room. Suddenly, frantically my mom yelled for me to come into her room. I ran in and saw my dog choking. With no thought to the fact that she could have bitten my arm off I immediately opened her mouth and pulled out the rawhide bone she was chewing on (one side got soft so she must have thought she could swallow it without thinking about the rest that wasn't soft which I grabbed on to), pulled it out and threw it right in the garbage. That was about 10 years ago. I basically saved her life that night. I dread the thought of what might have happened if I weren't home that night. She lived another 5 years (until age 15) after that incident which the vet said was phenomenal for as large a dog as she was. Then I found the nylabone products and these are the only items that I feel safe leaving down for my dog or any of my foster dogs when I go to work. I have a variety of shapes and sizes. I even recommend these products to everyone I meet who are considering rawhide. I am very disappointed in this variety pack. While the blue chew with nibs looks just like the smaller version in the picture, these are hard as rocks and my 10 lb dog refuses to even put them in her mouth. She has worn out her old blue one that is identical to this one but says it's for small dogs. I thought this was going to be a replacement but sadly, I wasted money on these and now I have to find another like the first one that was somewhat flexible and felt good for her to chew. While this one was a waste, I highly recommend the small value pack or the pink or light blue but NOT this variety pack unless you want this extreme chew. It would have helped if they weren't the exact same color and design; I would not have confused them.
My fault as I did not realize the product was such a hard plastic feel. I'm so torn on this – the first time I gave it to my pup, it entertained her longer than any other chew I've given her, which prompted me to order the refills right away. After 8 pop-in treats, it's looking pretty rough, and the treats don't stay in as long. The pop-in treats packaged with the bone are easy to put in the bone. The refills are terrible and some will not pop-in at all. My dogs are heavy chewers and will chew on anything…literally. They enjoy chewing on these but do prefer some other products I’ve bought. I don’t buy these too often but when I see them for a good deal I pick them up. Good news is that they last a good while. Drawback is that don’t have these around kids or anyone with bleeding disorders or elderly people. I have two German Shepherds. One is a little easier on her toys but the younger one is definitely a power chewer. Because of this Nylabone is a staple in our house. At any given time you’ll fine no less than four in various states of “chewed”. I bought one of these with the rubber in the middle thinking it would brush their teeth a little more but ended up taking it away because pieces of the rubbery part were coming off way too easily and I was afraid they’d swallow one. Nylabones wear down gradually but the softer “dental” portion of this one just wasn’t holding up.
