My sister purchased these and sent me a pack. I have a female cat that is constantly urinating over the edge of the litter box. Well let me tell you these pads trap the urine and keep me from constantly cleaning and hoping I get rid of the smell. For those of you that have cats this can be very difficult. I have the extra large pads. I place one with the white pad on the floor and another one with the white pad up (like you normally would) to catch it. I dont think I really need the extra one on the bottom. But until I feel comfortable that one is enough I will continue to use two. She doesnt do it every day but at least once every couple of weeks. It also keeps her from tracking the litter all over. When it gets soiled I just roll it up and toss it. I dont know why I never tried them. I will never be without them going forward. These pads really lock in the moisture! I have tried many brands of pet pads and they are NOT all made the same. Some are very low quality so that unless the urine is directly in the middle of the pad, it leaks everywhere. That wasn't the case with the Hartz Home Protection pads. They did a FANTASTIC job locking in wetness and not leaking. We use these for both our dog and our cats' litter boxes. We have a female cat that does not like to "squat" in the cat box like a normal female cat! She sometimes misses the box which can cause a HUGE mess! These pads are wonderful for that, too! No wet floor, no cleaning, no odor! The urine has NEVER spilled off the sides of the pad which is a problem we have had in the past with other brands. I also like that they are unscented as our dog is a bit picky about those kinds of things. If the fragrance is too overpowering, she won't use them at all!! Tried the Hartz Home Protection Odor Eliminating XL Pads and have to safe that I wasn't impressed. These pads did not do a good job of absorbing the urine. My dog stepped in the wet spot a few minutes after urinating and tracked urine paws prints all over the house. This is a purchase that I can conclude as a lesson learnt. I purchased this product because it was smaller than my other pet unit which allowed it for portability when traveling. The turf itself is okay quality, easy to clean and drains correctly. However, the middle draining tray is not designed at all to work at all. The urine just collects on top of the drain tray because the holes and bumps aren't in a functional area and it barely drains to the lower tray. It is made from a texture that soaks up the urine instead of allowing it to flow off and threw, therefore it collects oder, collects urine that won't wash/scrub off, it can't be cleaned properly and all that waste causes the material to break down. When I say break down, I mean in ever sense. It starts to break off in pieces. Every time I clean the product, more peices fall off and it gets smaller and smaller. Basically, this product does not work. I learned that I should stick with what works and not take chances of cheaper off brand products. Even though the size of my other potty unit is less portable, it actually works! My dogs hate it. they won t go near it. it elevated off the ground which is really weird. my dogs are very small so it s difficult for them to even conceive of getting up onto it. It moves to easily on the tile floor, so even if the dogs were to get up on it, which they won t, it moves which scares them so they jump right back off. I need to return it . I don t like it at all
Received in original packaging, was not in a plain box. They just slapped a label on the box the item came in. Anyone could see what was sitting at my door after it was delivered. After opening box, very strong plastic odor. Still very strong! Our dog will not use it, and has no interest in it. Sits to high off of floor, could be lower. Design isn t bad, but could be lower to the ground.

While I didn't love the smell of this, it fulfilled it's purpose. My significant other I adopted a puppy last summer, and her previous owner clearly made no effort to train her. We had to start potty training from scratch, and nothing was working until we got this spray. Anytime she had to go she would just drop to pee wherever she was. Got this from Petco and was shocked at how bad it smelled. I read the other reviews and thought maybe it would fade but not only didn't it, the smell was on my hands bec the bottle leaks. The smell of this stuff is absolutely oppressive. Before we even opened the package we could smell it. It's like… stale horse urine that's been roasting in the sun. HOWEVER…. IT REALLY WORKS. Our 8 week old puppy took to this immediately. We live in a condo so we needed a solution to let our puppy ***** safely before she's fully vaccinated. There's no "Safe space" outside where we can take her that other dogs wouldn't have gone already. I had no idea if it would be hard initially to get her used to it, but we plopped her down on it as soon as we brought her home and she went *** right away. We had to re-direct her a couple of times during the **** sniff, but after a few times she knew this was her ***** spot. Doesn't mean she was ***** trained that quickly 🙂 but she knew when we put her there that it was her spot to go. 3 weeks later, this is the best thing we could have done. Having to take a puppy out every 15-20 minutes living in a condo would have been a nightmare. We keep it on our patio which is fairly large, and I never smell anything. I've ordered a 2nd one to keep in my car so when I take her places (carrying her only ), I can stick her down on the "safe grass" so she doesn't have to hold it the entire time. I will probably keep one on our patio well beyond when I can take her outside also, for early morning and late night *****'s, until she's old enough not to go so frequently. My 6 year old long-haired chihuahua Choco is pad trained, but we've been having this issue where he steps on his fresh *** and tracks it all over the apartment floor, making me mop the floor multiple times a day. *** pads also don't do a great job with odor control, so it was time to look for an alternative. I have bought The American Kennel club training pads before and I am buying them again. I have 2 senior dogs and they both use them. The scent is not strong or over powering and each pad holds the urine so it does not drip or run over the sides. I also have a 13 year old cat and I have seen her use the pads also. We bought the medium size for our 20 lb poodle. I was concerned it would be too big, it was definitely the right size – any smaller and she wouldn't have been able to circle. It's stable and she feels comfortable getting on it. The design allows the urine to drain away so no more wet feet. We followed another person's suggestion of lining the urine collection bin with saran wrap and then filling that with a couple scoops of kitty litter.
