I wanted to wait to review this sofa after we had used it for a couple weeks. We shopped around for a sofa for months because we have two shedding dogs. One of them will not let us cut her nails. The first sofa we had was a fabric sofa that was “made for pets” it was ruined after a couple months even though we regularly cleaned it. I decided to get a leather sofa because of the shedding and upholstery just is too much upkeep for something used as much as a sofa. This sofa is amazing!!!!! The leather is amazing quality. I already conditioned the leather after a month and it made it look brand new. The dogs scuffed it up a bit and I was worried but those scuffs buffed up after using a gentle leather conditioner. I would highly recommend this sofa to anyone!!! Especially dog owners. I will update this review after our 6 month mark. I ordered one of these around a year ago and it has been a game changer. My old couch was microfiber and it was destroyed by kids and always covered in my dog fur, switching to leather was the best decision for my lifestyle. The couch has held up (knock on wood) and is easy to clean, it is comfortable and looks awesome. I love the look of this couch and it’s relatively comfortable. It’s important to note that it has a low back height. It doesn’t give the look/feel of a big, comfy couch that you would want to lounge on for hours, but the size and appearance is great for our purposes. My concern is that, at just under 3 months, the couch is already starting to look sunken and almost wrinkled on the cushion that gets sat in the most. I purchased this couch sight unseen, and will NEVER do that again. It is extremely uncomfortable, and the cushions are very slippery on the underside, and slide off repeatedly. (As an aside, this couch does not appear to have been designed by Joanna Gaines. The box the couch came in had an entirely different name on them. It was not the “Timothy” couch. I actually thought I’d received the wrong couch.) I’m just so very disappointed. We saved up to purchase this couch, and had it shipped all the way to Alaska for our new house, and now have a couch I hate. For this kind of money, I expected so much better.
I have admired the Timothy Sofa for over a year, and was thrilled to finally have a space that would fit it. I ordered it expecting the standard 5-8 week shipping time, but it shipped very quickly (on 3/22). It has since been two weeks and as of today (4/5) it shows the couch has only travelled as far as Dallas, or 95 miles from it’s original location. There is no ETA listed on the carrier site and I have attempted multiple times to reach both the carrier and Magnolia and only received voicemails, where my messages have gone unreturned. I have 3 kids and though we haven't had it long, the small scratches and marks of life with little kids have not taken away any of its beauty. It was so easy to put together! The box it arrived in was massive, though, so even though I was hoping for delivery inside my front door, there was no way it was going to fit in a traditional single doorway. OBSESSED! In the middle of our kitchen + family room (the most active part of our home), and under the traffic of 4 people and 3 dogs, and constant company, we were hoping to find a sectional that would hold up under our real lives and not require that we treat it with kid gloves. ONE YEAR LATER! Let me just start by saying that this couch is the centerpiece of my very tiny one bedroom NYC apartment and not only I am obsessed with it, but so is everyone that comes into my living room. I want to give this sofa 5 stars SO bad! The value & design are 5 solid stars, but we’ve had this sofa for about 2.5 years & on the one side of the sofa the foam has completely migrated away from the edge & you literally only feel the wooden frame. This also causes this side of the sofa to sag in the front. I’ve added photos to show where the couch sags in the front, where the leather juts out much more than the opposite side. I’m sad because I want this couch to last at least 10 years & currently I’m doubting whether that milestone will be reached. We contacted Article & they suggested we flip the sofa over & move the foam back into place, which we did. This worked like a charm for about 3 days & then the issue came right back. I feel it’s important to note that we don’t have children & my husband travels 4 – 5 days a week for work, so 2 adults are not even using this couch heavily on a daily basis. I weigh about 124 lbs & my husband weighs about 200 lbs. We also don’t “flop” onto the couch. While this sofa is a great value in the realm of leather sofas, it’s not great if the sofa only lasts 3 years max. I love the way the leather has aged & it’s big enough for my husband & I to lay side by side when we watch movies at night. Ideally I’d love to find a solution for this foam so we can keep this gorgeous couch for 10+ years!Michael Z.
I cannot speak to longevity since we just got them but very happy with the quality of the couches (we purchased two in the darker brown). They came well packaged and no damage in shipping. They're tricky to carry due to their shape so get some help! Really nice quality leather. My dogs have already made some minor scratches but I've used a leather balm and it blends away nicely (getting some beds/blankets to avoid that in the future). 2 year review: Couches are now sagging in the middle on both of my couches purchased at the same time. Also a tear in the stitching is now getting worse. 2nd couch looks like it will start to tear now. Filed my concern with customer service and was told "not to sit in one spot". I understand we are beyond the one year warranty period but the couch should last longer than 2 years. In my opinion the stitching is not adequate to endure normal wear and tear and the sagging in the material tells me that the engineering of the couch needs some work. Got the couch, chair, ottoman, and love seat (full set) and love them! I've had them for about a year and a half now and they still look great. Only con is that the cushions slide out a little bit, even though there is Velcro to hold them down. No big deal, just push them back in. These ARE genuine leather- and it's thick leather too. That was my biggest worry when shopping (aside from price) because so many bonded leather couches say they're leather but then a couple years later, they're peeling apart. Legs are removable. Large people will fit just fine on these…I'm 5'6" and I've got a good foot or two left when I'm stretched out on this thing. They are BIG pieces so make sure you map out your space to see if they'll fit first!K
When I walked into the Ashley store I wanted this couch, love seat, oversized chair and ottoman. I absolutely loved the way it looked and it was leather so I thought to myself " it's really expensive but a good investment" NO ITS NOT! After a couple months it looks years old. I bought this exact sofa nearly 10 years ago, and it was amazingly great for the price. Ultra plush, high quality real leather surfaces, etc. So, when we needed a new couch, we decided to buy it again. On the one hand, it is still built to the same specs as the original, at least dimensionally. But, the leather isn't close to the same quality, and the cushion padding is considerably firmer (this might actually be a plus for some folks…the old one really sucked you in). The description on the web site for these pieces says that it's real leather, and I guess it might be. But, the feel of it isn't great; at best it is a cheap split grain (pebble finish). At worst, it's not actually leather but some sort of coated synthetic…I can't tell. Now all of that said, it does seem to be built well, and we love the look of it. Pros- This couch is GORGEOUS!!! The leather is amazing quality! I can’t get over it. Like nothing I’ve ever seen in your average furniture store. Much nicer in person than photos. I just sit and admire it’s beauty. It seems well made, although I just received it, so I can’t tell you how it will hold up. The shipping took a few weeks, but wasn’t bad. The delivery guys did a great job. Not like getting something from the better known delivery companies. I would DEFINITELY recommend buying from this company! Cons- Because of the full grain leather (the highest quality you can get) as expected, it scratches VERY easily; however, the scratches buff right out, so it’s not a deal breaker, but I personally wouldn’t put it in a room where kids or pets were on it constantly unless you want to spend a lot of time buffing or don’t mind scratches. My least favorite things about it is how low and firm the seat back is. It’s not the most comfortable couch I’ve ever sat on. Pay close attention to measurements, because many of the more modern couches like the ones on this site have very low back rests. Because of this, I also wouldn’t recommend this particular couch for a room you will be sitting comfortably and watching TV in a lot. None of those cons are due to the quality, but more the style of the couch. I put mine in a sitting room so it’s not my most used couch.Amanda F.
I gave a couple of stars because I like the style of the couch and it does seem comfortable. However, I’ve been quite underwhelmed with customer service. My couch showed up with not one, but several issues. There’s a hole on the bottom lining, a white streak across one arm, and a thread pulled out from one of the tufts. I really didn’t want to have to go through the process of exchanging such a large item so I asked if there are any options. They offered me 5% discount( which is pretty small considering). I asked for a replacement at this point, and then they told me they’d send out someone to fix the stitch so I said ok if they’ll discount it and fix the stitch. No they can’t do both they said, and then told me to buy a replacement lining on Amazon (!!) and they’ll reimburse but no discount for my troubles. So I pay 2,000 for a couch and I have to go buy replacements for it from Amazon right out the gate? Pretty abysmal customer service compared to other similar furniture companies I’ve dealt with. I love this couch! I was worried about buying sight-unseen, but the couch is gorgeous and so comfortable. The cushions are firm (what I wanted) and the leather is beautiful. The back is quite low and not very comfy without throw pillows, but that’s a given with this style of couch. Customer service and delivery were top notch. Special shout out to Nina! This is a beautiful sofa that adds a modern, yet warm and cozy, dimension to my living room. Pricing made this a high value-for-dollar purchase. The shade and texture of the leather looks just like like advertised. It was delivered to my doorstep even though my building has a mail room downstairs and assembly was as simple as screwing in 20 fasteners with a Philips head screwdriver. While the sofa is very solid and the density foam keeps the design’s attractive shape in tact (thus far, after minimal use), it makes for a very firm, if not rigid, cushion. I’ll upgrade my rating to 5 stars if it breaks in nicely over time. For now, appearance/beauty, accurate advertising, affordability/value, and accessible assembly/ delivery all earned a star each. I purchased this couch from overstock. After less than a year, the back legs broke and leather peeled. I was very appreciative of the company when they replaced the couch. However, this new couch that claims to be top grain leather, started peeling after 6 months of owning the it. On top of that, the back leg is completely broken and being held you by books. I am so disappointed since this was the most I’ve spent on a sofa and now will need to trash is after less than a year. Delivery was on time and my thoughtful FedEx driver called to see where I wanted it left. Product and color was as described, saddle brown!! EXTREMELY pleased. Sofa is apartment sized and seat is VERY FIRM- which I like. Back pillows a little less desirable- could use more lumbar support but throw pillow will take care of that. For $300 I'm EXTREMELY please and for the money you can't beat it!! By myslef it took about 20 minutes to set up with no tools required. This sofa looks very modern and beautiful. It is the perfect addition to our office. It’s firm and large enough to sleep on, however I agree with other reviews stating that there is no back support. The back cushions did puff up nicely from being vacuum sealed but are not firm enough to offer adequate back support. It is a great accent piece but if this was your only seating it wouldn’t be comfortable enough to spend much time sitting on. It looks amazing in our office and will provide a place for someone to sleep on if they were to stay over.Pamela
This is going to be a super honest review. The back cushions take some time to expand but they come vacuum sealed so that’s to be expected. I’ve read other reviews (prior to purchasing) that state that it’s uncomfortable, it’s a brand new it is stiff you have to sit on it to break it in and it’s obviously not going to just happen over night. It is EXTREMELY easy to put together! If you’ve ever put together a metal bed frame (that’s all I could relate this to) then you can put this couch together. The legs screw in and there are two support legs that go on the back. The bolts for the support legs are already in the bottom of the couch, there is not a bag with bolts and screws in the box. You don’t need tools to put this together which is a plus. The color is exactly as shown and is exactly what I was wanting. Overall I have no complaints.Erika

I bought the cognac tan. It's a beautiful sofa. The leather is very soft to touch but it does scratch very easily. It's a fairly soft seat for a leather sofa but it's not as comfortable as I was hoping. If you're looking for a sink in sofa this isn't the one. I wish it had velcro under the cushions so I didn't have to push them back in after each use. Overall I really like it, there's just room for improvement.Stacey B.
