Best Dog Gear Brands (Jan 2023 Update)

I was so excited to receive the harness – it seemed like a huge upgrade from the old one I bought from Tractor Supply that my dog was using. Well. It took twice as long as expected to arrive which is ridiculous when I paid for shipping. The shipping fees were refunded, but I had purchased the item with the intent to use it by a specific date which didn’t happen since it didn’t arrive until MUCH later. When it finally did show up the package was ripped almost completely open and the packaging of the product was all messed up which is also ridiculous. Alright it’s here, looks like **** but it’s here. It’s a much brighter blue than I expected which I like. It took a little while to figure out how to adjust as the ends were so firmly tucked into the harness I thought I was going to break it. Finally got it on and adjusted and “Meh”. It’s not deep enough (front to back) in my opinion, and my dog is not an odd or unusual shape. I do like that it covers less surface area, she appears to stay cooler (but a double coated black dog in the humid Midwest is always hot). It does sag when wet (which is almost always as she swims regularly) BUT it dries and goes back to the original fit which is a pro I guess. I say I guess because I didn’t expect a harness I paid over $80 to sag at all when wet but ‍♀ It doesn’t show any wear yet which it shouldn’t for only having it 2 weeks. It does shift like crazy. Not as bad as the cheap tractor supply one, but again I expected ZERO shifting from the $80+ harness. Honestly I probably won’t buy again. I was super excited to find a harness with everything I wanted: reflectors (which the ones on this harness ****, seriously for $80 y’all couldn’t put reflective piping on all edges?!), a handle on the back, bright blue, goes over the head/ NOT a step through and had a back leash clip. But honestly I’m pretty disappointed. There is a lot of room for improvement in what I consider an expensive harness (more reflective piping, padding under the middle set of buckles, better fit, better choice of shipping carriers). I’m not going to get rid of it and it does fit better than the Tractor Supply but I don’t absolutely love it like I hoped.Seva P.

My girl discovered early on that she can back out of her harness in a heartbeat. She can't back out of the Flagline harness (yay!) and – more importantly – if needed, I can pull on the leash / harness without fear of hurting her. (There have been a couple times when we've encountered dogs who are too friendly — having the Flagline harness on my girl made it much easier to pull her back to a safe distance without fear of hurting her or having the harness pop off at a bad time.) The harness is easy to put on / take off. It's strong. The reflective trim helps make her more visible. The adjustable straps make it easy to size up during the winter time when she's got winter coat(s) to accommodate. Having clips for closure is so much nicer than harnesses with velcro closures. (Velcro closure doesn't last long – and trying to wash anything with velcro – oy veh!) The price was a little more than I thought I'd spend for a harness – but having a harness I can trust and that will last is worth every penny. 100% recommend!Karen G.

The harness is super adjustable and fits my pups barrel chest so well! We wanted the waist clip as the single rib clip always slipped off or got loose and it wasn’t enough security for us. We also really love the handles! The front loop works super well to mitigate some pulling (pups only 8 months old) and my favorite feature is the inner material that rests on his body, it’s not mesh or fabric that his short coat sticks into so his hair isn’t being rubbed off or sticking in the harness getting stuck in cracks and making it itchy or difficult to clean. This harness is also super easy to wash and I really love the hardy materials on this harness. Wish it came in orange but the grey works just as well on our pup! This harness just fits Róka so well and I’m so pleased with it!!!! It fits and contours to his whole body and moves with him when he’s moving around! I saw this harness at my local REI and without knowing anything about the brand or how it would impact my life, I knew it was “cute”. I bought it for my mischievous lab puppy who weighed around 50 lbs at the time, solely for that reason. The cute factor. I then came here and ordered the Ruffwear Knot-a-leash rope dog leash to match. We used the harness and leash combo for about a week, when my fearless puppy decided to show me how well it works. I was driving on the freeway, and while waiting in traffic to exit on the off ramp, I opened my back windows for her to get some fresh air. She was clipped to a cheap “doggie seatbelt clip” so she was secure, or so I thought. I hadn’t noticed that she had un-clipped herself from the seatbelt until the moment I saw her jump right out the car window, and disappear from my view. She wasn’t trained at the time and would make a run for it anytime possible. I panicked picturing my dog running into freeway traffic and being hit, but to my disbelief I found her hanging off the car window, being securely help in place by this harness and the rope leash that was still inside the car. The impact of her weight combined with the momentum of the jump, did nothing but dent the locking system of the carabiner shut, and held her weight without letting her escape or even touch the ground for that matter, and not a single rip happened to either the harness or the leash otherwise. This “expensive, but cute” dog accessory prevented my dog from a terrifying death that would have surely happened had she not been wearing both of these incredible, life-saving items. I love this harness. I haven't used it for the reason I bought it yet, (to be used on my dog while paddle boarding), but I have discovered it's amazing ability to thwart my dog's whale like antics to throw herself backward, going limp, and melt right out of the harness like a cooked noodle when she doesn't want to go or leave somewhere. My dog is a 55lb Golden Retriever / Border Collie, she's a big heavy noodle. I used to own the Rabitgo dog harness which was nice for her to wear while we biked, however within 3mo she learned how to pinch her shoulders together and melt out of the harness. She would also (mostly at the dog park) go stiff leg when we would leave and then rear up and throw herself backward ( like a whale jumping out of the ocean )so she was sprawled on the ground. Your only option was to literally drag her from the park. She is 4yrs old now and is an amazing whale flopper.. she can slip out of anything… until now. I can literally just hold her in the air by my side while she tries to wiggle and squirm out of the harness to no avail with this RuffWear harness. For that reason alone this harness is worth every penny to me, whether or not it works in the water. As far as fitting goes, I bought the large. Her neck is 19inches. Behind the front legs 31inches. In front of the back legs 25 inches. From base of neck to the start of the tail is 27 inches in length. It seems to fit her well. The components are well built the D ring is sturdy the buckles are heavy duty and it's well stitched. I think the only thing that could make this harness better would be having another D ring in the front. I know they have other harnesses with this feature, but multiple attachments is just handy when it comes to dogs. Overall, I would recommend this harness and I won't be going back to my previous harness.McKenna B.

This harness is perfect for our furry escape artist! We've been using this harness for years (this is our third one) and she has never gotten out of it. It is adjustable to get a comfortable fit. The handle is wonderful when you need to make sure you have solid control, such as when small children want to greet the doggo nose to nose. Even though this is our third harness purchase, I want to clarify that the previous harnesses did not wear out and they are still structurally sound. We walk a lot and they faded due to sun and water exposure after a few years. And one of them took a beating from my cleaning attempts after an unfortunate encounter with a skunk. This pack + the roamed leash are my new go-to even for short hikes. Pros: holds lots of supplies, easy on/off, strong against pulling at leash, east to see bright orange, stores flat when not using. Cons: hard to keep balanced so it usually drifts to one side or the other while my dog is wearing it; doesn’t have a front loop, which would be nice to prevent pulling; not water proof for when he runs into streams; straps can be hard to adjust; second belly strap is kind of far back, on the belly instead of rib cage Overall functional and will probably last a long time, but if I could trade it in for a smaller one I probably would.Anne

OzzyDog and I have been backpacking and hopping freight across country for years. He may only be 12 pounds, but don't let size fool you. He's a big dog on the inside and he needs gear that can hold up to his very active lifestyle. Other harnesses, we always end up having to replace within a month or so. As, most products fit for small dogs are not made for high impact, outdoor lifestyles. It may seem expensive, but trust us- Its worth it!CobyAndOzzy

I bought 2 of the Ruffwear Approach Dog Packs (size Medium) for my 2 Pitties (51 lbs and 63 lbs). They fit great and they have been fantastic for our recent 2 day/1 night camping trips. I operate a dog training business in NC and part of our program is that we offer clients access to our monthly pack walks & socials, day hikes and as of this year: 2 day/1 night camping trips and these packs have been PERFECT for us trainers and our clients! We love our Ruffwear Approach Packs. We keep the weight to under 10% of the dog's body weight. So for my own dogs they carry 1 liter (2.2 lbs) on each side of their pack (2 liters total per dog). Given that we are hiking on some pretty rugged terrain with lots of elevation change, the 9 pounds they carry (between the two of them) is a MASSIVE help for me and they have no issue whatsoever carrying the weight. As mentioned, we do hike on some pretty rugged terrain so the bottom of the saddles are frequently getting scrapped across rocks and so far they are holding up nicely but time will tell. I think it would be nice if the next pack model included some type of extra layering on the bottom of the saddles to improve longevity and help with wear and tear as they get banged up from rocks and boulders. But again… 5 stars…. as always… Ruffwear comes through with another great product. You get what you pay for and they are absolutely worth the price.Dave

I purchased this collar maybe 3 months ago and the buckle now pops open when my dog pulls on his collar, whether it be on his leash when he sees a squirrel or at the vet while they are just holding him into place. My dog is 55lbs and barely pulls on his leash, only when he sees small animals. Not impressed the buckle! I really liked the collar but I would prefer it if the buckle didn't break or if it was more like the belt style.Grace

I purchased this collar or one very similar for my dog last year and it ended up rubbing off his hair on his neck area and leaving an irritated raw patch. As a pet owner I was very concerned sense the collar wasn't very tight at all, I don't want this happening to anyone else's baby. I did reach out to Carhartt to inform them of this defect and they seemed concerned and offered to replace it with a better collar. They ended up not replacing it and continued to give us the run around. We also did send photos in to show how harmful it was. I loved there product but it's super disappointing they don't stand by there word. Carhartt is more expensive then most clothing so it's just frustrating I payed good money For a product that is supposed to be durable and safe. Just don't understand.Stella

Stylish and good-looking collar. Unfortunately, it's not as durable as we had hoped. The buckle/clasp is half plastic and half metal which causes it to fail over time. Ours worked great for a little over a year on our 45 pound hound, and then began to fail if our dog applied tension to it against his leash which would cause it to fall off of him. Orvis harnesses are just what is needed for two hyper Jack Russells on their daily jogs. When every walk is an adventure and everyone is a target for an insane moment of excitement, it is nice for the person at the far end of the leash to at least have some control. With the option of using the chest d-ring both dogs are controlled; the back d-ring is also nice when we take them for rides. The harnesses' polyester blend offers an extremely flexible material that is easy to work with putting on and removing (it isn't bulky like so many other harnesses we have used in the past). I had a dog harness for Storm, my 75 pound German Shepherd – Husky mix. She hated it and ran away when I tried to put it on her. It appeared to cause her to walk poorly and was uncomfortable. Then I bought the Tough Trail harness from Orvis. This harness really gives her freedom of movement. She loves to run at the dog park and with the Tough Trail, she can really cruise. This harness fits securely, doesn't pull to the side. It keeps my put safe in the car and on leash. It is easy to put on and take off, doesn't require a step in. The harness is also attractive and looks great with the accompanying collar, what a fashionable and functional combination. I purchased one for my pup and also my grandpup. No frills, just solid construction; this is the harness I recommend when people ask. It is the very best thought out design I've seen on a harness: the dog doesn't need to step through anything; the back clip-in point is oriented to distribute the force of a pulling dog throughout the harness (which minimizes pressure points when your dog who's bred to sled is pulling you to your destination); and there's a front clip in point when you want to minimize pulling tendencies. Super burly and durable, while being comfortable and breathable. One of my dogs has put thousands of miles on his with no damage or fraying at all – incredible. I only wish Wilderdog made a version with a couple small pouches – let Fido carry the **** on long hikes! Overall, my favorite harness I've ever tried!Detrick S.

I love these harnesses so much. Not only is the quality great, but I love that the clips are not metal. My dog is very sensitive to this sound and would tense up in fear when I’d put his old harness on from the sound of the metal clips clinking together. He had no reaction except excitement when I put this one on him. I do love the color, but I just wish there was a true red to match the maple collar (which is the one he wears). I have two of these harnesses because I bought the smallest one for my miniature dachshund when these originally launched. Unfortunately, it’s a little big on her, so I hope in the future they’ll release an even smaller one to accommodate dogs with even smaller chests because she absolutely loves going on adventures too!Brette B.

My wife and I both love the harness. Our dog is a rescue and we got him at 2YO, and VERY afraid so it has always been a challenge to touch him from day one. We've always had issues with bulky harnesses or, as we realized later, uncompfortable ones for him. We were kind of afraid using this one because it seemed a little bit bulky but after only 2 walks, we can see that it very light and he's feeling comfortable with it as he played and ran a lot. Also, I know for some it's not good to hear that there was an issue with the order, but realistically it can happen in any company and the main point here is that they SOLVED IT FAST AND WITH GREAT ATTENTION to what we, as customers, needed. We received a different color than ordered and within 24hs we already had a second one shipped. Moreover, I had bought it 2 days before the new colors came out and thought "well, that's just tough luck", but they made the change and the new shipment was sent in Seafoam =) A big shout-out to Alanna from Customer Support as she was fast and very friendly resolving my issue. I have owned a lot of equipment over the years for my 4 legged friends, all from various manufacturers. I can honestly say the Ruffwear brand are probably the best I have used. Strong and well made with quality hardware. I particularly like the seperate dog tag mounting point and rubber disc to cushion the tag. This means no more rattling of metal against metal as my dog walks and plays. It has to be more pleasurable for the dog too, considering their highly tuned hearing. The collar is easy to adjust and looks smart, not bulky like others.Steven S

Last year purchased the same set in the Orange color. using both sets now as this provides time to clean and air dry each set. Great product as always. The item itself is mediocre at best. . It’s an overpriced collar with a plastic clip. There was a time when I really enjoyed your products. Now I have to sacrifice quality for the esthetic color that I want. . I would have much preferred and would even pay the up charge to have the color I chose with the metal buckle. I do a lot of hiking and backpacking with my pup and when he’s excited (which is often) I now have a concern for the durability of his collar AND his harness. I doubt I’ll be purchasing ruffwear again anytime soon and to get a quality product you will have to pay a lot more and also sacrifice in the esthetic department.Zach H.

There’s no denying it. My little Joey (four pounds of adorable Maltese) ❤S his dinky American River Step In Harness and it shows when we walk. He holds his head a little higher and prances…at least as much is a guy of his stature can prance. And I love it more than Joey does. This is the first harness that truly fits properly. I have 4 of these harnesses from a few years ago and loved them. I decided to order 2 more… Unfortunately the new ones all gape at the neck terribly! Even pulling it back more so it’s flat on the neck first doesn’t work as it won’t close the Velcro and then the arm holes rub under the armpits. I realized they changed the arm holes slightly (by overlaying it onto my old ones) and it’s thrown off the whole pattern. They are now useless. So Disappointing since all else is perfect- quality, price, patterns. Try the “Wrap & Snap” instead, it fits great and is nice for summer as there’s no extra fabric on the back.Dog Mom

The bungee seems much more durable/stretchy than a previous Ruffwear leash I have. Love the leash but it needs some minor improvements. I'm really not sure how the waist strap should be adjusted to make it longer or shorter. Making adjustments seems difficult and requires me to make multiple adjustments/feeds to get it to the right length. (My waist is bigger than my wife's). The hook would be better if it was more like a snap link closure. Having to pinch it open and connect to my dog while he is moving around (excited to go for a walk) is hard to do. Despite my complaints I would recommend this to other dog owners.Ken L.

This leash is so well designed! The ability for the human to wear it around their waist is very nice for jogging and being hands free. I am 5'4", so the shorter version is okay for me, but my 6'4" spouse would be more comfortable with the longer version, and we may get another one in the longer length for this reason. It is super easy to adjust the length to switch between wearing it around your waist and being used hand held. The bungee is excellent for Socks to be able to wander a little but also be reminded that she's still attached to the leash, and is great when jogging and she stops suddenly to investigate an interesting smell. The loop near the clasp is also excellent when we need to keep Socks a little closer when passing people on the trail. I am especially excited to use it more on trail runs as it gets cooler. All in all, it is worth the $40+ price tag (the first non-recycled from climbing rope leash we've ever had) and I'm so glad I purchased it.Patricia D.

It’s a fantastic length (large size) for hiking and running. After wrapping it around one’s waist (I prefer hips), there is still substantial length of the lead left for a dog to enjoy “freedom”. The only remark of criticism is about the non-stretchable lead end that is close to the dog’s collar. After trying I think it should be a bit longer (and the stretchy bit a bit shorter) so that when one grabs that part to reduce quickly the lead’s length (I.e. in road traffic or when passing an aggressive or agitated dog), there is no need to lean down. Another 10-20 cm would be perfect. I’m not tall but I find that bit slightly short and feel like I nearly walk on my dog’s paws.Karolina D

I've tried numerous harnesses and never loved any until this one. I have a miniature rat terrier who is 13.5 lbs. He tends to be too big for mediums and way too small for large sizes. Finally, this harness fits perfectly in Medium! There's even a little room to spare in case he gets larger. We wanted to take off pressure from his neck and the v neck design and light weight, soft mesh is great! It's by far the softest one I've ever felt, and I've tried every one at multiple stores. It's so comfortable that it could be left on all the time even in summer since it's so breathable. My dog lives it too! He seems to feel safe and calmer in it like a thunder shirt makes him feel. The first time I took him on a walk he seemed to feel "free". He was so happy to pounce around without worrying about a jerk in his neck. We give this one 5 stars!!!! I got this in black, size medium from Amazon. She has a 12" neck and a 19" chest. This harness is adjustable around both neck and chest. My pup has a high chase drive and will sometimes pull suddenly. I like that the x-shape doesn't put as much pressure on her throat when she pulls, and the double d-rings and buckle closure feel very secure for her leash. My dog learned to step into the harness on her own if we hold it up for her, too. Very good quality materials that will last a long time.lianna.b

at the suggestion of my neighbor I bought this harness.Online store availability says it was available at the store. Went to this store they did not have the medium size (strike 1). I got small because the last harness I got at Petco last week in a medium was WAY TOOOO big. (which I am unable to return $35 gone). (strike 2 ) Even tho this one is advertised online for $14.99 at the store it was $21.99 and the team member did not know anything about it being lower online. (strike 3) same SKU number on receipt as listed in the online description. These harnesses worked in a pinch for us. We took our dogs camping with us and we wanted to make sure to keep them safe. Pros: It is easy to put the harnesses on and take them off. They are a light weight material which allows for fast drying and minimal weight on the dog. They utlilize the the over the shoulder Y design style which is the least likely to impede a dog's range of motion in the front legs. The color was listed as salmon red but is more of a burnt orange which is actually good because of how close it is to safety hunter orange. Cons: This harness utilizes plastic buckles that are light weight and don't hold up to rigorous use. We don't utilize the leash clip on the rear portion of the harnesses because it is not sturdy if the dog pulls and this harness is not designed to handle load bearing forces. The only measurement used for sizing is measuring around the dog's mid-section or "girth" (not a good representation of many dogs). The harness does not come down the back far enough. Overall: The only reason we bothered getting these is because the other ones we ordered we placed on back order from a company that does custom dog gear and we wanted to keep our dogs safe from hunters or other people. As a professional dog training and care company we would prefer to go with other options because we have a high standard for our personal dogs. If you are on a budget or need something quick to satisfy a safety risk by all means get these or something similar, we certainly did. No one piece of equipment is the best, they all have their pros and cons and each buyer has factors that influence their buying choices. I prefer these over other harnesses due to the free moving open shoulder design. Love how lightweight but sturdy they are. Would like to see a small handle added. There is some shifting while walking due to leash angle and the fact that in many small dogs, the neck straps just don't seem to fit perfectly. If it's Tight enough for their neck. you can't slip the harness over the dogs head and loose enough to do so is too loose on their neck and allows more shifting. My dogs aren't heavy pullers so these issues dont detract too much from the value of having a very lightweight but strong harness that is easy on and off.Cynthia R.

My 68 lb. golden/standard poodle mix Gibson and I are longtime Ruffwear fans and have had several of their products over the years. He measures 32" around the widest part of his chest, so he's right on the cusp of the M or L sizing. He has always been a Large in Ruffwear harnesses (the Front Range specifically), but I had to return the Large Hi & Light for a Medium as the straps around the neck were way too big, even tightened all the way! The Large harness gaped at the neck. I was super bummed! Thankfully Ruffwear returns are super quick and easy, so I received the Medium replacement quickly, and it fits well, although maybe a little short on his torso. It seems fine, and he seems comfortable, so I don't think it's a problem, but my mom said it looks silly on him (rude!), which made me question whether that's how it's supposed to fit. It does seem to fit a little shorter on his torso than the Front Range, which, again, he wears a size larger. I did also want to mention the larger sizing because the sizing tool states to take the larger size if between sizes, which Gibson is, and I found that due to the length of the neck straps, we actually needed to size down! Hope that's helpful. Gibson is kind of deep-chested and leggy but generally seems pretty well-proportioned. He's built more like a poodle than a golden, for reference. Overall, though, I adore the color, and I absolutely love how lightweight the material is! Gibson gets hot easily and living in the South, I want to keep him as comfortable as possible, so this is an excellent summer alternative to the Front Range. I love the option to clip the leash to the front of the harness, although I do wish the front clip wasn't made of fabric (metal would feel more secure). The only problem I have is that the harness twists on him when he pulls even the slightest bit, and I find myself adjusting it on him frequently. This might be user error, though, and I'll keep working on figuring out the best fit for him. With a few tweaks, it would be perfect!Chelsea M.

We love ruffwear! Have been using their products for 5 years already, love the designs and materials they use but mann what’s going on with the stitching ?? It sucks when the stitching starts coming loose within days/weeks of use, i got two dogs and it feels like you got a 50-50 chance that you will get a product with defective stitching, Got two collars, the “ruffwear” tag started coming loose within a few weeks of use on one of those. Got two leashes, the buckle to use around the waist broke in two days!! On one of those, the other one is still good, Got two fernie jackets, the stitching around the neck started coming loose within ONE wash on one of those, so you get the point… luckily i know how to sew and I’m able to repair the items, but it sucks to spend top dollar on dog gear only to last in good condition for a few days or weeks.Gabriela

I have 2 beagles a little over a year old and these are the second Ruffwear collars they’ve had. I bought new ones because they grew out of their old ones and, honestly, I wanted a new look on them. My girls are typical beagles who spend a lot of time outdoors wrestling, digging, chasing, etc. These collars hold up well and are not too thick, stiff, or bulky. For the number of tags I need to have on my dog, separate attachment points for tags and leash are a must. Everything on one ring would be a difficult mess. My Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy is growing quickly, and making small size adjustments a couple times each week is no problem. Once set, it stays set no matter how hard he pulls, no matter if the collar is dry or wet. The webbing hardly absorbs odors, and a quick wash and air dry gets rid of what little there was. My only regret is that my rough-and-tumble beast of a puppy will outgrow his medium collar in another month. I'm ordering a large Top Rope collar next, and someone is going to get a really sweet hand-me-down!Glen H.

i bought an xl for my oldest pit bull. it was too small but xl being the largest size i had no other option than to modify it. but the reason why i wouldn't recommend it is because there is little padding and i have to readjust every couple of steps or it winds up on his side hindering his movements.crystal

Seems like good construction. I liked the pads on top to prevent pinching, but overall, it is still the same standard harness you can get everywhere. Unfortunately, I am still on the hunt for a good harness to use for running with my dog. The harness rubbed under his armpits and rubbed them raw. The look of the harness is great however the material cannot stand up to chewing which is not covered under warranty. I bought one yesterday and this morning I left to get breakfast and when I got back 20 minutes later he had chewed through one of the straps and had taken a chuck out of the nylon canvas chest piece. Very disappointed in the product and was hoping it was made better and would hold up for years like their jackets have.Brady

Rugged ,tough , durable harness . Works like it should . It takes a little time to get a proper adjustment , unless your dog is growing it's a one time thing . We like it better than other harnesses we have . I find it laughable that people would give a poor review because their dog chewed on it . That's on the owner and their poor dog . Ordered two Yeti 8-cup dog bowls with customization – one Nordic Blue and one Nordic Purple. These bowls are great! They are heavy which we like. That and the non skid bottom make them very stable on our tile floors. Also like that these are food grade bowls. The lettering (customization) shows up better on the purple than on the blue. Considering the customization the bowls arrived in a resonable amount of time. Yeti kept us informed of where we were in the process. We have 6 dogs, so I'm sure we will be ordering some more. We have had many dog bowls over the years and these are by far the best.bernergent

I bought 2 bowls for my dogs for Christmas and one bowl is already rusting and pitting these bowls are used in my home not out doors and the bowls are always cleaned and the water is frequently change and my dogs only drink bottled water I have 2 coolers and 2 tumblers a coffee cup 2 slim can coolers I like buying yeti stuff but the dog bowl rusting will put an end to that.This is not a get what you pay for situation these bowls are exspensive and should not rust and I should not have to use steel wool to clean them thats not the answer. So going forward I do not recommend them and I will not be purchasing Yeti products anymore cause of it. If you want top dollar for your products which I don't mind paying then make sure you are selling top products I have not requested a refund or return cause its not worth jumping threw hoops to do it. With 4 Aussis girls we gave the Yeti Boomer 8 a try. Our girls are now enjoying a “Happy Hour” through out the day. It’s 5 o’clock somewhere, right? Seriously, they gather and line up for a cool drink. I find myself getting in more steps doing refills and refreshing their beverages. lol They don’t make a mess with lapping either, which is an additional bonus. Staying hydrated is paramount and with the Yeti 8 Boomer it’s obviously getting our girls to be heavy drinkers! Keep it chill and they will come back for more!Mountian Man

I just got a couple Airdale Terrier puppies that are about 4 1/2 months now. They're in training now so I wanted to find something that would be comfortable for them while learning to walk on leash. My daughter told me about these harnesses and how they're like a hug for puppies/dogs. I decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did. They fit perfectly. The dog in the nautical harness is 35lbs, and the dog in the purple harness is 31lbs. They're both wearing an XL and there's some room for them to grow as well. Thank you, EcoBark!Bill

Buckle that holds the collar closed is cheaply made. Used it to take my dog for a walk and after a couple of pulls the collar came right apart. Put it back on and soon after the same thing happened. With the collar off the dog you can simply pull the two ends apart in your hands. This product is just for show, not for use.Jenn

At first, we were extremely happy about the quality of this Carhartt collar. We loved the overall look. However, our dog had an extreme reaction to the cheap metal buckle. Be extremely cautious if your dog has easily irritated skin.Alybow23

While I love the look of this collar, the clasp design is very unreliable. While the outer receptacle of the claps is metal, the inside is plastic. It's very week, and the collar flies off with the slightest pull. Sometimes it flies off of my Doberman when she barks with some spirit. If the clasp was made with metal on both pieces, I suspect it would work better.Gabrielle

I was so excited to receive the harness – it seemed like a huge upgrade from the old one I bought from Tractor Supply that my dog was using. Well. It took twice as long as expected to arrive which is ridiculous when I paid for shipping. The shipping fees were refunded, but I had purchased the item with the intent to use it by a specific date which didn’t happen since it didn’t arrive until MUCH later. When it finally did show up the package was ripped almost completely open and the packaging of the product was all messed up which is also ridiculous. Alright it’s here, looks like **** but it’s here. It’s a much brighter blue than I expected which I like. It took a little while to figure out how to adjust as the ends were so firmly tucked into the harness I thought I was going to break it. Finally got it on and adjusted and “Meh”. It’s not deep enough (front to back) in my opinion, and my dog is not an odd or unusual shape. I do like that it covers less surface area, she appears to stay cooler (but a double coated black dog in the humid Midwest is always hot). It does sag when wet (which is almost always as she swims regularly) BUT it dries and goes back to the original fit which is a pro I guess. I say I guess because I didn’t expect a harness I paid over $80 to sag at all when wet but ‍♀ It doesn’t show any wear yet which it shouldn’t for only having it 2 weeks. It does shift like crazy. Not as bad as the cheap tractor supply one, but again I expected ZERO shifting from the $80+ harness. Honestly I probably won’t buy again. I was super excited to find a harness with everything I wanted: reflectors (which the ones on this harness ****, seriously for $80 y’all couldn’t put reflective piping on all edges?!), a handle on the back, bright blue, goes over the head/ NOT a step through and had a back leash clip. But honestly I’m pretty disappointed. There is a lot of room for improvement in what I consider an expensive harness (more reflective piping, padding under the middle set of buckles, better fit, better choice of shipping carriers). I’m not going to get rid of it and it does fit better than the Tractor Supply but I don’t absolutely love it like I hoped.Seva P.

I was looking for a inescapable harness with a nopull front attachment for my dog. Roxy is a 50 lb husky and she does lots of hiking, biking, and skiing, so I needed something that could hold up for heavy use, but that will also allow my mother to walk her around without worrying about getting pulled over or having a loose dog (Roxy tends to be a little less respectful with leash manners with my mother). Pros: Front attachment-it does the job well and is more sturdy than I had anticipated. It's not just a thin fabric loop; it's actually hard and appears to be well attached. It also doesn't pull the chest plate down or over the shoulder when it's engaged, which is nice. Body coverage- I like that there is less bulk and fabric over the back. Roxy overheats easily, so the lighter profile (compared to the Web Master) keeps her cooler. Handle- doesn't seem like it is flimsy and the chest piece provides nice support under the dogs body. Escapability- It doesn't budge. Granted, Roxy is a pretty good girl, but I had her brace and tried to pull it off from the front and it stayed in place well. Caveat, see fit. Overall comfort and look- once she'd adapted to the rear strap around her ribs, she didn't seem to notice it was there. I like the color as well. Cons: Fit- Roxy's girth is 27.8 inches, so I got the medium, which should have given her a lot of wiggle room. The girth straps have to be taken all the way out to fit her. However, the neck straps have to be taken almost all the way in to keep the harness at her chest and prevent a gap up front that she could get her foot through. It does fit if I do this, but I could see this being a real issue for differently shaped dogs or a dog with similar shoulders, but a larger barrel. I'm not sure if it will fit her when she gets her winter coat. Overall, I think it's a good harness if it fits your dogs body. We'll see how it holds up with use!Brianna B.

My girl discovered early on that she can back out of her harness in a heartbeat. She can't back out of the Flagline harness (yay!) and – more importantly – if needed, I can pull on the leash / harness without fear of hurting her. (There have been a couple times when we've encountered dogs who are too friendly — having the Flagline harness on my girl made it much easier to pull her back to a safe distance without fear of hurting her or having the harness pop off at a bad time.) The harness is easy to put on / take off. It's strong. The reflective trim helps make her more visible. The adjustable straps make it easy to size up during the winter time when she's got winter coat(s) to accommodate. Having clips for closure is so much nicer than harnesses with velcro closures. (Velcro closure doesn't last long – and trying to wash anything with velcro – oy veh!) The price was a little more than I thought I'd spend for a harness – but having a harness I can trust and that will last is worth every penny. 100% recommend!Karen G.
