Our German Shepherd absolutely loved this cooling mat! He would lay on it every time he came in from outside. About 6 months ago we purchased this and then a 4 months later, the seam started to rip in one area, causing the mat to leak. I have a 13 year old Giant Schnauzer that can’t get up without help so she can’t cool herself off and can’t rotate to get more comfortable. I have purchased more than 15 of these Cool Bed IIIs over the past 10 years only because K&H Products has a patent on these beds and are not available from anyone else. Everyone I've purchased has leaked at the seams within a year. The 2 year warranty is only good for the original purchase and not for the replacement mattresses. The latest purchase leaked immediately after adding 3 gallons of water to the large Cool Bed III, which is half the recommended amount of water. Contacting K&H to obtain a replacement is quite involved requiring one to destroy the leaking mattress so that it cannot be used and take photos of it to send to the company. I ordered a Medium, and I'm pretty sure I got a Large. It's bigger than the Medium size bed, and since it's for my kitten, I'm really hoping he grows into it! My two dogs, who are very particular about laying on blankets and pillows, both gravitated to this bed as soon as I put it out for them. I got the XL because he is pretty sprawly in our bed (we have a king). It is perfect for him. I had purchased the older version of this bed a few years ago (not from here thank gawd) it was amazing went to find another and found this which seems to be updated version. I have been through numerous beds and this one by far is the best. I was looking for something that wouldn't wear down and get flattened from use within mths. I was also looking for a waterproof liner as our Dane sometimes has accidents at night. This bed is just like a human mattress and the foam is lined to keep accidents out. I bought two of these for my Rough Collie. He was about 70-75 pounds and very old. I needed something to keep him off the hard floor. He road 1500 miles in the back of my car on his bed and was super comfy the whole way! We had them in the bedroom and in the living room for him. He loved them a lot. Now that it's June, it's getting hotter and I am worried about our two puppies being uncomfortable or even overheating. This pad is remarkable! I’m pleased (and relieved) to report that my very particular English Labrador has rated her Cool Pad with a big Paws Up. When it arrived she didn’t want to go near it. “What IS this? Now that it's June, it's getting hotter and I am worried about our two puppies being uncomfortable or even overheating. This pad is remarkable! Just the weight of the dog causes the pad to become cool. The dogs love it! Even though it cools off in the evening, I move the pad to their bed at night so they sleep much better. We have two toy poodle pups, so I bought a LARGE size pad so they could both use it and have plenty of room. I also bought the pad cover as well, and it is a finely woven cloth, very similar to nice pillowcase. This is a great product that I would recommend to anyone who has a dog and lives in a warm climate!!Karee W.
This cooling pad is a must have, especially if you live in the warmer cimate areas. Here in Texas, when the dogs come in after playing, this is the first place they go. It instantly starts cooling when they lay on it. We got the biggest size and both our Dutch Shepherds share it. It's very portable and you even fits on top of thier bed as a topper. I’m pleased (and relieved) to report that my very particular English Labrador has rated her Cool Pad with a big Paws Up. When it arrived she didn’t want to go near it. “What IS this? WHY do I need to lay down on it? Is this some sort of trick? Am I going to have to walk around this now? If you like it so much, you lay on it” … etc. The wonderfully helpful people at the Green Pet Shop suggested if she is particular about texture, I might try getting a cover. That did the trick! I didn’t even realize they sold covers. Yes, you can make one, but theirs fits absolutely perfectly and I’m sure it will keep it in even better condition. The cover is thin and does not affect the cooling process. Because it fits the pad perfectly, it doesn’t slide around. What a difference! She walked over and got right on it. I nearly fell over. The Extra Large Cool Pad is plenty big enough for my 90 lb. girl. Everybody’s cool and happy now. Yay!S.G.

I like the idea of this product but after reading the instructions I found this not to be what I was looking for. I like the bed idea which it’s nice the mats are interchangeable. However when putting in the water they recommend grapefruit to prevent bacteria. I’m not a fussy person so now I have to worry about bacteria in my dog bed. Also I thought the blue would be mesh and it’s like a hot water bottle. You add water and it stays cool. I think I’d rather like the idea of the of the regular bed that’s waterproof and bacteria proof.meghan.f
Ashland absolutely loves her cot and canopy as I’m writing this she’s laying outside in our yard on it right now it’s a sturdy little cot and the canopy keeps the sun off for a nice and cool! It’s our third one we purchased from K and H we live close to the ocean so get some pretty strong winds sometimes the canopy can get torn but by far this is the best cot and canopy we found we have tried a couple other ones and they don’t block the sun I just don’t hold up as well as this one! Highly recommend a little puppy loves!! You can add the canopy to this cot. We chose to not fill it with water we just use it the way it is we didn’t want to mess with cleaning still keeps Ashland cool. We also purchased the regular cot to swap out in the fall.Jillene P.
Just received my coolin pet cot which I ordered direct from K&H. My dog is a cockapoo with beautiful curly hair which is great but makes him hot until we get to the groomer. So this cot should really help. So far we're using it to teach him the "place" command, but as the summer hits we will use it as his regular bed. So far he has no problem lying on it, but since it is still cool where we live, we haven't yet added the water to the pad. Hopefully it will be his go-to place when he gets hot. Found Green Pet Shop looking through another pet site. I was searching for a cooling mat for our senior dog Xena. The cool pet pad has some great reviews so decided to order. The site is easy to understand and navigate, ordering was easy and we received the cool pet pad as expected. We ordered the medium size and it’s perfect for our 39 pound senior girl (pictures below to show size) We were pleasantly surprised when our senior pup took to the pad almost immediately. The pad was cool to the touch, especially after we had it in refrigerator for an hour before we used it the first time, and it stays cool for quite a long time, our senior pup enjoys laying on the pad. The cover is a great option and recommend it to keep the pad clean and to protect it for long time use. I bought two of these for my Rough Collie. He was about 70-75 pounds and very old. I needed something to keep him off the hard floor. He road 1500 miles in the back of my car on his bed and was super comfy the whole way! We had them in the bedroom and in the living room for him. He loved them a lot. We had them for close to 2 years before another dog decided to keep urinating on them. I was able to wash the covers easily but the foam was getting really stained and gross smelling.Raquel C.
So far this bed seems great. My favorite part is that it didn't have any foam odor when it arrived! Foam seems very high quality. _x000D_ My dog has not used it much yet but I have noticed the top and bottom fabric of the bed is a bit slippery. The first time my dog got on the bed his backside slide off the bed as the bed moved forward. I probably would have been better off with a bolster style and different fabric for him especially now that he is an advanced senior. I have two dogs, a mini-Aussie in this size range and a border collie slightly larger than this range. Both use the bed happily (never together). The fabric isn’t showing any signs of wear. The egg crate is somewhat compressed, but still offers plenty of padding (I can’t touch the floor through it). We own two of these exact beds (one is 4 month of use and the other less than a month). This is holding up nicely compared to many more expensive beds on the market. I have been very happy with our purchases. My dog loves this mat – at first he was a bit stand-offish about it, but soon he went over and laid down on it and it was immediate acceptance. It is a bit slick to the touch, and I think that was what he didn't like at first. We spend a fair amount of time outside on the deck and in the back yard this time of year, and it gets hot out there. I put this pad under a table for some shade and the dog heads for it every time we go out there. I also tested it myself – it is cooling to the touch, and I put it in my living room chair to try out it's ability to deliver on it's claim of being a cooling pad. Normally after a couple of hours watching TV this chair gets very warm, but not this time. It stayed cool and so did I. This works – and your dog will thank you for it.CrashTester
The cooling mat is a good idea, but I think most dogs won't like that it is stiff plastic. I have a boarder collie who gets very hot and loves the coolness of the tile floor. However laying on the hard tile floor is very bad for her joints and makes her stiff. I thought she would definitely go right to the mat as it is cushiony and she seeks out cool places to lay. But she would NOT use it, no matter where I put it (any of her favorite cooler places). The mat is a great idea – it is cushiony and cool, but if your dog is at all finicky, it probably won't like the "plastic-ness" of it. I also noticed after my dog layed on it for a longer period of time it had actually become warm. If your dog would not mind the stiff plastic, it would be good for keeping your dog cooler for short periods of time.Cathy9
Last year I saw cooling pads for dogs on Groupon. The price was good. It matched this one! But, I doubted they really worked. I was wrong. They work great! My dog will often get up from where he is lying and go over to lie on his cooling mat, even in winter if the house is too hot for him! Sadly, the gel on those mats didn’t last long. I noticed mostly because my dog started scratching at the mat and moving it around trying to find the cool spot. With the gel gone, so was the nice cooling affect. So, I went looking for another one. When I came across this large mat on sale here on BB&B, I was already sold. The price is terrific, and, as a member, I got even more off. My dog is very happy to have his cool spot back. I bought several last year, and they are all gel free now, and needed replacing. I keep a pad on my bed for my dog, too. These are longer than the ones I got last year, and Not quite as wide. My dog is happy but I am disappointed. The bed is missing the cushion that would fill in the head rest. Manufacturer cannot send the missing piece. The bed is ok but not worth the hassle to exchange it & risk the same thing happening. If the bed would have been complete, I might have given 4 stars but only giving 1 due to the consumer experience, wouldn't want another person to experience the same
This is not a quality bed. It came in a vacuum sealed bag and was folded improperly, so the bed is morphed. As you can see, it s not near as thick as the photos (maybe 2.5 inches thick). Also, the pillow for the headrest is too soft to support my dogs head (about 3-4 inches thick). Do not buy! I ve purchased better beds on Groupon for a better price.
Well, the bed looks and feels good, it is not as smooth as I thought but it is soft. Definitely a good value. Of course, the bed does not account for a puppy maybe because of the large size, but our puppy destroyed it (not very sturdy cover material) in a matter of hours so, I guess for now, she will sleep on the floor!!!!
