The first night of sleeping on this bed was the best night for me…why…because He didn't wake me up until 9am instead of 7:30 am to go out to potty. The "cooling" side of the mattress is a lie. I know how cooling mattresses looks like and yours just have the color but not a cooling layer. My dog is very hot in his new bed during hot days and sleeps on the floor. Therefore, I feel cheated for having paid almost $50 for this bed. Also, the cover material is synthetic which naturally created heat and on top of a synthetic sponge creates a really too hot environment for my dog. The material is slippery so my elderly dog can hardly get up. The only reason I gave two stars is that the shape and height are good. Still, sizes you provide are inadequate and not a reflection of dog needs which is strange when Furheaven is in this business. My Yorki is a normal size. Yet, when I bought small which you recommend according to the size and weight chart as well as the sleeping area measurements you provided,he can fit well provided he is all the time in something like a fetus position and he doesn't move much. He cannot stretch or lie down in such a way so as to have at least an inch of space between himself and the sides of the bed. Dogs sometimes sleep in a stretched position and do need some extra space. Dogs also move during the sleep, swirl around, wiggle. So I had to get him a medium size which is really too big for him and the space where we keep it in our apartment but I am happy he has some extra space. Humans don't sleep in beds which are exactly their size. Standard beds even if a twin size have some extra space on all four sides because nobody stays in one position during the night. We absolutely LOVE this bed!!! It is extremely well made with separate zippered compartments for the bolster and bed padding. This makes it very easy to wash the cover and not the padding. I highly recommend the "Convoluted Orthopedic Foam" Mattress. As we live in California where the weather is warmer, the "Quilted" Cover material has been perfect all year round. This is actually our second bed that we bought. The first bed we bought for our an older dog who was starting to get arthritis and have back issues. Our German Shepherd absolutely loved this cooling mat! He would lay on it every time he came in from outside. About 6 months ago we purchased this and then a 4 months later, the seam started to rip in one area, causing the mat to leak. I have a 13 year old Giant Schnauzer that can’t get up without help so she can’t cool herself off and can’t rotate to get more comfortable. I have purchased more than 15 of these Cool Bed IIIs over the past 10 years only because K&H Products has a patent on these beds and are not available from anyone else. Everyone I've purchased has leaked at the seams within a year. The 2 year warranty is only good for the original purchase and not for the replacement mattresses. The latest purchase leaked immediately after adding 3 gallons of water to the large Cool Bed III, which is half the recommended amount of water. Contacting K&H to obtain a replacement is quite involved requiring one to destroy the leaking mattress so that it cannot be used and take photos of it to send to the company. I have been through numerous beds and this one by far is the best. I was looking for something that wouldn't wear down and get flattened from use within mths. My dog is happy but I am disappointed. The bed is missing the cushion that would fill in the head rest. Manufacturer cannot send the missing piece. This is not a quality bed. It came in a vacuum sealed bag and was folded improperly, so the bed is morphed. As you can see, it s not near as thick as the photos (maybe 2.5 inches thick). Also, the pillow for the headrest is too soft to support my dogs head (about 3-4 inches thick). Do not buy! I ve purchased better beds on Groupon for a better price.

I've seen many iffy reviews on these, but I've loved them. My Lab was an outside-dog and LOVED this bed. I bought multiple, over the years, until he passed, and only ever had holes occur twice-both after significant "digging" on the bed. If you looked on our back deck, he was laying on this bed.

Now that it's June, it's getting hotter and I am worried about our two puppies being uncomfortable or even overheating. This pad is remarkable! Just the weight of the dog causes the pad to become cool. The dogs love it! Even though it cools off in the evening, I move the pad to their bed at night so they sleep much better. We have two toy poodle pups, so I bought a LARGE size pad so they could both use it and have plenty of room. I also bought the pad cover as well, and it is a finely woven cloth, very similar to nice pillowcase. This is a great product that I would recommend to anyone who has a dog and lives in a warm climate!!Karee W.
This cooling pad is a must have, especially if you live in the warmer cimate areas. Here in Texas, when the dogs come in after playing, this is the first place they go. It instantly starts cooling when they lay on it. We got the biggest size and both our Dutch Shepherds share it. It's very portable and you even fits on top of thier bed as a topper. I’m pleased (and relieved) to report that my very particular English Labrador has rated her Cool Pad with a big Paws Up. When it arrived she didn’t want to go near it. “What IS this? WHY do I need to lay down on it? Is this some sort of trick? Am I going to have to walk around this now? If you like it so much, you lay on it” … etc. The wonderfully helpful people at the Green Pet Shop suggested if she is particular about texture, I might try getting a cover. That did the trick! I didn’t even realize they sold covers. Yes, you can make one, but theirs fits absolutely perfectly and I’m sure it will keep it in even better condition. The cover is thin and does not affect the cooling process. Because it fits the pad perfectly, it doesn’t slide around. What a difference! She walked over and got right on it. I nearly fell over. The Extra Large Cool Pad is plenty big enough for my 90 lb. girl. Everybody’s cool and happy now. Yay!S.G.

Perfect size for our 95 pound Golden Retriever. The outer fabric is denim and very durable and washable. Inner waterproof liner protects memory foam. Our dog is very rough on her beds…she likes to pick up and shake and toss her beds around. This bed is heavy and not easily tossed. I think it will last her a long time.
